Went to the flea market near work and bought these:
100_3447 (800x599).jpg
These were $2. A Bell System screwdriver, a 1/4 Plomb Ratchet, two proto 5/32 square, 3/8 drive sockets, and other stuff.
100_3449 (800x599).jpg
Eleven =V= Craftsman wrenches for $15.
:)
It was a good day for me!

Hit 2 garage sales this weekend, and came home with all this for $30.

New Britan thread chasing tool. Doesn't appear to ever have been used.
Snap On Bill Elliot ratcheting screwdriver.
Wise and Ridgid snips.
Craftsman 3/8" deep SAE set.
Kobalt SAE Impact sockets. 11/4" missing.
Genuine Vise Grip.
Diablo recipe saw blades all new...3-4 used ones still in case.
Snap On diagonal cutters.
Nothing too exciting, but all decent quality, useable stuff.
Not too excited about the sockets, but good enough to put in tractor toolbox.

From the local CL. Asking price was $250, did a bit better. Loaded it all up and the guy asked me how I was going to fit the compressor in there, I didn't even know it was included. I still have to go through it all, but I've found a Matco Silver Eagle 1/4 set, OTC ball joint press, Snap-On 18V impact w/two batteries and charger, Snap-On 14.4V impact with one battery and no charger, a couple sets of Matco reversible ratcheting wrenches, a PAR-X set of wrenches, several Snap-On and Matco ratchets, green snap-on ratcheting screwdriver, a couple of Snap On hard handle screwdrivers and a bunch of other stuff. I thought there were two broken Matco ratchets in there, but it looks like it's some kind of low profile set where you swap out the drive mechanism. More pictures when it's not so cold out and I can actually sort through it.

image.jpg

Remember this? Laid it all out today except the Matco Silver Eagle set since I already sold it. Left to right on the sets (loose stuff is all truck brand), Par-X metric set, blackhawk stubby ratcheting metric set, craftsman stubby set, husky USA metric set, craftsman 1/4 swivel sae and metric, craftsman torx and hex, Matco ratcheting DBE up to 25mm, Matco triple square set. The ratchet on the bottom that looks broken is a low profile Matco set where the entire gear is swapped out, both metric and sae and two deep versions in the pouch. I've never seen a set like it. Ratchets at the top are Matco, Snap-on, a Cornwell swivel and a bluepoint elbow. Visegrips and a Lockjaw set, the swivels on the rail are Cornwell and Matco on the bottom all metric. I'm forgetting the brands on all of the pliers, but it's all truck brands.

IMG_8976.JPG

Next to the channellocks is all craftsman. The long handle 1/2 looks like it's a pretty good find. The offset reversible ratcheting wrenches metrics are Mac. There's a Snap-on 14.4 3/8 and 18 1/2 cordless impact, I haven't had a chance to try the batteries to see if they're good anymore. Anyone know if the 14.4 will work on the 18V charger? The ball joint set is OTC, and all the rest of the stuff is misc import stuff.

IMG_8977.JPG

Here's a bunch more import stuff that I didn't bother pulling out.

Picked these up today....

DSC07141.jpg DSC07142.jpg

First I got the SK box with all you see in it (almost complete set of SK shallow 6pt metrics....missing 10-13-16mm)
Next I picked up all the other loose sockets including a 12mm 3/8" dr. Snap-on.
Lastly I found two old style hard handle SO screwdrivers....

The SK box is in decent shape (the plastic insert is toast) with only a few wrinkled places that could use a little straightening.
I wiped the badge off with some Windex and it cleaned up pretty good!

DSC07143.jpg

Flash makes it look even better....

DSC07144.jpg

I know some of you guys like to restore these SK boxes.....I'll be offering it up as soon as I can. (read: when I get 100 post or better! ;))

Lots of nice, modern stuff Jerry. One thing, the box cutter style blade pliers in the "import stuff" box looks like a pair of craftsman handi cutters or what ever they call them. I find them to be very handy, a good alternative to large scissors for rope, hose and the like.

Guys,

I've never done this before, but I'm going to stick a plea on here for some help with some of my WANTED LIST...

I am just FOUR ITEMS shy of completing a 115-piece 1942-45 era General Mechanics Tool-Set. With the weather turning, the weekend approaching, and flea market season getting into full swing, I am hoping somebody runs into these. If so let me know. I will pay generously.

- Cape Chisel, 7” Long, 1/4” cut (typically no model numbers, just brand and size, or just brand)
- Diamond-Point Chisel, 6” Long, 3/8” cut (")
- Snap-On A-15 1/2"-sq drive Drag Link Socket 1-3/16” (2, 3, E, or G code, or no code)
- Hacksaw Blades, Hard, 12" x 1/2" x 24 Teeth Per Inch (Simonds, Disston, Atkins, etc)

Thanks. Happy hunting.

I removed this set of blades from a vintage machinist chest. Only one is marked so that I can see the mark - Atkins. If these interest you, send me a message.

Power Kraft wrench set and another plomb/craftsman 1/4" set in excellent condition. Original label and decal on the lid

It's not like the other style of boxes of craftsman 1/4" sets I've seen from other makers. I wonder who made the box?

Just one garage sale on 3/27/2015 and purchased two items.

First item was a cast iron piece off a furnace made by The Williamson Heater Company of Cincinnati Ohio. Approx 6" x 7"

In 1911, Peck and Williamson bought several other heating equipment businesses to form the Williamson Heater Company.

Garage Sale Items cont'd

2nd item

Railroad Signal with the cursive GRS marked on back. GRS stands for General Railway Signal (GRS) and was founded in 1904 with the merger of three companies (i.e. Pneumatic Signal Company of Rochester, New York, Taylor Signal Co. of Buffalo, New York and Standard Railroad Signal Company of Arlington, New Jersey).

The Red 8-1/2" lens is plastic and made by W.R.R.S. Co. , which turned out to be Western Railroad Supply Company which began after a merger in 1895.

Was able to access the interior of the light and after cleaning up the contacts on the bulb, used a 6 volt battery on the two leads and able to get the light to function. I didn't use any power source other than that, but if anyone knows what else might work, I'd sure like to get a reply on it.

You hit the holy grail with that spinner ratchet. I look for one at every sale I go to hoping to find that elusive prize someday. I think you scored big no matter what it cost.

Going on another slow streak, I can't seem to find any yard sales or estate sales flea markets aren't open yet and I can't find any CL deals lately. Hopefully it will lighten up soon and I can get some stuff I did manage to score one thing at a local used place: A Rosco screwdriver, never seen the black/gold handle before.

I went to three estate sales today - none had any tools listed - but I am persistent!

Short on quantity but long on quality!

Yes, the bits were in the handle, on each of them.

Nice to find one with all the bits in the original box. Never mind two. I guess persistence does pay off.

I like your whole selection. But that speeder ratchet and the Magna-Tips driver seem to draw my attention. Congratulations.
