If it's like our professional estate sales, prices will be sky high on day 1. I would not waste valuable time waiting in lines/lists or getting numbers just to see Ebay like prices. (unless there's something you really want).

I'd still stop in on the estate sale later in the morning and maybe on Sunday if they have 1/2 price day.

Today was a winner for me I went to one sale at 0830 and my brother and I were the only ones there for some reason. Anyway we had the run of the place for about 30 minutes. Some 1", 1/2" 3/8", and !/4" drive ratchets, sockets, wrenches specialty stuff mostly Snap On some Matco ratchets, SK, Proto & Blackhawk. It ended up costing $200. The guy wanted $145 but I told him $200 and he and I were both happy campers.

Found a "farm sale" today and got some great deals. Had to pass on a lot of vises though. All were either badly broken or were no names. All were obscenely priced.

Everything below only cost me $4 .lady just told me to fill a bag for dirt cheap!

Klein linesman and cutters

Misc Craftsman.

NOS snap on screwdriver and chisel. The socket is an odd drive size slightly bigger than 1/4.

Wizard sockets.

Matco 3/8dr impacts.

MAC sockets.

Various Craftsman proto, etc ignition wrenches.

Sergeant parallel pliers/cutters.

Blue point screw starter Morse 3/4 drill and insulated screwdriver.

and this mystery tool. I think it may be for working on watches?

Cody - Those are the listings I dream about finding.
Even if you're not interested in the more modern tools, there should be something hiding in the piles that could be useful if you take the time to dig. I see an orange thing with holes in the plate, standing on a shelf in one of the pictures. That's a ladder stand. It hooks onto the rungs so you can stand on it while working on a ladder, or you can use it as a work shelf while you're up there. Very useful if you need to stand on the rungs for a long period of time.

A whole lot of running around for nothing for me this morning. The first stop was an estate sale. A 90 minute wait after numbers were given out. Then, mayhem.

I only walked out with :
- an Imperial #93-FB tube flaring kit
- and a file folder full of catalogs and manuals.

After the trash was cleared out of the file (smoke alarm instructions, etc.), the pile included catalogs for :
- Craftsman Power Tools 1963, 1964, 1982/83
- Delta/Rockwell Homecraft 1955
- Skil 1964 condensed
- Atlas/Power King 1950

and Manuals for :
- Craftsman vise and motors
- Black & Decker drill
- GE drill and saw

as well a some other pamphlets and brochures.

All for only $5.

I'll see what's already in VM's library and scan and post the rest. The vise page will be posted in the vise thread here as jpg's since VM doesn't do vises.

Didn't get a chance to take pics yet but I think I did pretty good $106 for everything they would haggle at all. Got the two pieces red chest for $60, Mac impact wrench for $4, two $8 socket sets one impact and one misc had 3 jc penny USA made sockets. Also for $16 misc set old craftsmen rAchet, Armstrong extension Socket long and esc sockets, wrench set with holder $8 USA made wrenches, and a craftsmen long socket extension $2. I don't know how well I did tho.

At Sale #3 Free 9 drawer Parts Bins - Not sure of brand but Equipto style (Not sure of brand... this will need an E tank bath so that will sort of force me to get back to the new E tank setup...;

$5 for a Long C Craftsman Lathe. the dead/live center end is missing a part, but I may have that. I also may have a drive plate for the power head end.

AM, the Craftsman looks like early raised panel, so late 40's to maybe mid 50's at a guess. No clue on the Globemaster.

The largest pair of scissors I've ever seen at 40" long. Marked All Alloy Shear #1. ($15). Anyone know where these were used??:

Looked it up and they sell for $15 with free shipping and thats with the full set of pins. Not really worth the effort to list and sell it since its probably worth about $5 since its missing all the extra pins and the case.

The "scissors" are heavy duty tin snips the down turned handle goes into a stake plate or the like, and you lean on the other handle. Probably a two man job...

The shears are for sheet metal and the right angle end on the handle would go in a hardy hole, or stake hole so that the shears could be operated with one hand while you hold the sheet for cutting.

I have a Blacksmith made pair somewhere in storage. Your's was commercially cast.

Hi All,
Been awhile since I've been able to post any shopping.It's only June and I hope to make up a little lost time soon. I finally got to hang out with my buddy Adam and do a little morning picking today.
First stop was in a very nice neighborhood and the Estate Sale company had pictured quite a few tools.To our surprise an import tap and die set that MAY have been 39.95 new was labelled $100!! A nice Williams 1/2" dr set looked complete in the box was marked $250. We were worried that the sale was going to be a bust. I did dig alittle deeper and found a few items more reasonably priced:
A Starrett 12" combo square =$6
A Starrett 6" combo square =$3
A Stanley No.923 6" sweep brace =$8
2 Starrett No.190 jack screw kits that appear to be complete for $3 each
and a box of pinch dogs in various sizes was marked $2.
The tape measure pictured was a second stop for $4.






After a few more stops of no luck and breakfast we hit a small flea market that was a one day T.O.O. .Only one vendor had any tools and Adam spotted this Cornwell set 3/8"-7/8"but offered it to me as I hadn't been out picking often, They were marked $10 and Adam asks the guy if he'd take $5 as the 1/2" was missing and he accepted!!!
When I got them home I found out the 3/8" is a Wright DOE instead of a combo wrench and sifting thru my loose wrenches did not yield either the 3/8" wrench (CW-1212) or the correct 1/2" wrench (CW-1616) . It will give me a reason to shop some more and fill out the set.





All in all it was a great day to hang out and shop.

That 6" sweep brace is a little hard to find, and very useful with a screwdriver bit.

Stop at a few today...Not much to pick from at most...good tools have been hard to come by this year. At least my wallet didn't suffer much. I paid exactly 1 dollar for each item.

Small Honeywell fan, Sony dream machine clock/radio, unused 1 gallon gas can, Shakespeare and Shimano rod/reel combo...and the Workmate 300.

The Workmate was leaning up against the wall in a picked over garage. I went to the woman in charge to inquire about it. She quickly replied, "Take it. Give me whatever you want. I don't want to have to throw it away". I handed over a dollar and was on my way. The top has seen some abuse, but remarkably...the frame, legs and feet are all intact and in decent shape.

Total for the day...5 dollars.
