Well never made it to Tractor Supply, But I did stop at the Londonderry Flea Market. Walked around for a while and at the last booth was this...

A 1/2 Hp Craftsman Block Grinder! Has all the original pieces- eye shields, lamp, quench tray, etc. Came on an unusual stand, a Chevy k30 cross member:D

Paid the asking price of $50, and now sits pretty in my welding shop/trailer.

Stopped at a rummage sale on my way to the dump yesterday. There were 5 of these oil cabinets for $20 each. Also had a box full of caster wheels with sealed bearings for $2 each. I offered $50 for 2 cabinets and 4 casters for each. He said sure. I loaded them up and said that I'll take another. He threw in 4 more casters!

They are used for oil and automotive fluids at fueling stations. They have a garage type door that can be locked so they can stay outside overnight and when closed.

I watched a 179 lb anvil go for $500 at a auction this week.

I was so distraught I went out and spent a bunch of money else where.

Damn another block grinder. Sooner or later I will stumble across 1 of those.

I went on a road trip today to check out a torch setup. Guy claimed it was his father's and he didn't know anything about it. I figured the tanks would most likely be rentals but I was hoping I could talk him down to where it wouldn't matter. They ended up being leased. He said his dad bought them at auction with gas and never filled them. They still have some gas in them. The leasing company is close to me here in Richmond so hopefully they will be happy to get them back and will work with me.

Anyway, I got the fire power portable setup with bottles, regulators, hose, and torch. About 55 rods of stay silv 15, both full size tanks, single bottle stand, victor and union carbide regulators, and a uniweld torch stamped us govt. Took the whole lot for $250.

Past couple weekends pick-ups. Garage sales have definately slowed down what with school back in and such so items pictured are all from estate sales.

9, I thought about it. I had the truck and cash in hand, but that they were right down the road, he would see them for sale out front. Craigslist would work, but I left them for the next guy.

Zkling, they are 15D x 32W x 43H. The outside is plastic with stainless & aluminum hardware. The shelves are coated steel. There may be some sort of metal skeleton to hold it all together.

Maybe on my way to the dump next week I'll see if the other 2 are there :dunno:

Is the tambour garage door plastic as well or is it coated?

I picked up a nice Weatherguard 137 for my GMC Canyon Crew Cab. Its missing the decals, and has a slight fade but was really clean and solid. I wanted something really sturdy, high quality, and without breaking the bank. I think I faired well at 185.00, considering the retail varies from 700-1200 for the same box new. I may powder coat it black, or use monstaliner or more temporarily plastidip. Has anyone did any of the above to their boxes?.uploadfromtaptalk1442797240298.jpguploadfromtaptalk1442797340523.jpguploadfromtaptalk1442797352527.jpguploadfromtaptalk1442797368360.jpguploadfromtaptalk1442797380540.jpg

Speaking of scrap prices... had to pass on my white whale, a 6" Craftsman King Seeley jointer 103.20660 for $25, on the factory double stand, no motor and rusty top surfaces but otherwise beautiful, paint and engine turned trim perfect etc. due to time and a full vehicle. Hope it went to a good home, estate sale honcho said they were bringing the dumpster tomorrow.

Had a good weekend.

Fog machine works, as does the pellet gun. The gun came with the original manual and extra CO2 cartridges.

Not sure if I found four cannon balls or four ore crushing balls. They are solid cast iron and were really cheap.

And I got a free Empire No. 30 / Erie Tool Works 3" vise. Works good, no issues.

You might want to consider that those balls could very well have been from Civil War artillery and picked up from a battlefield. They would have been used in canister and grape shot loads.

I found another Cordomatic shop light and a cool old MAC 3/8" drive ratchet #X2R marked Pat. Pend. on the other side.
The bullet style selector switch on the ratchet looks like the one that Herbrand used.
$5 for the lot.

I'd have strapped it to the roof. Really. I actually did that rather than pass up a nice Craftsman 8" table saw with cast iron extensions, rip fence, miter gauge, many extras, 3/4hp motor and heavy timber stand on casters ... for $20.

That Craftsman knife is awesome! There was an estate sale last weekend her local that had three vintage pistol bb guns advertised but I didn't make it out there.

Hey, nice find on the creeper seat. Now you need some Wizard sockets to go with it ... and by strange coincidence I just happen to have some to sell!

Thank guys I thought it was pretty cool. I am often on the look out now for stuff that as an advertising aspect too it but it also has to be cheap ! So much of the garage/auto advertising type stuff is to many $$$'s for me to justify. Picked it up at a pro estate sale that re-opened for one day this weekend because they still had some stuff to get rid of for the family. Surprised to see it still there what with everything picked over. There was so much stuff there originally it would be very easy to overlook stuff tucked away in the corners etc.

nglauer. now I need to find a creeper like yours to go with the seat ! Have no idea if Western Auto was even in these parts back in the day so probably will have a tough time finding the creeper. Good luck with your search

BFBOB, thanks for the offer on the Wizard socket but for whatever reason I don't have that much interest in Wizard hand tools. Now if you have any of the older Western Auto "Chrome-X-Quality" sockets I may be interested !

Flea market trip was a good one, bought 3 box lots that I sorted into the 2 boxes of decent stuff. First bonney combos!! Interesting screwdrivers, a snap on center punch, and blue point chisel. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1442890368.554465.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1442890386.060867.jpg

I picked up these two oil cans and a metal cupboard this past weekend. I paid $1 for the little oil can and $5 for the big oiler. I have a cap for it to replace the red plug but the trigger is kind of unique, a re-purposed bottle opener and it works great (though I wish it was all original).

The cabinet (paid $20) will go up in my auto shop for spray cans and the like.

not sure if anyone replied about the Bedrock plane, just saw this one. The Bedrock series naming is "60x", with the "x" matching the standard Bailey size. So that is same model/size as a Bailey no 8. More info here:

http://www.antique-used-tools.com/brtypes.htm

I think that the original question was whether a Bedrock plane ever had a plain lever cap - the answer is no. Reference Bob Kaune's Bedrock Type Study shown above.

Picked up, not one, but two Craftsman 109's. The newer model has a broken carriage screw mount thing. The older model has no internals in the headstock, but he does have the external gears.

Haha zkling. Paid $80. Craig's showed just one pic of the newer one. With some parts swapping and a motor, I have one, I'll have a functioning 109. Really wish it included a chuck though.
She'll get cleaned up and passed along. The rest parted out. Maybe this will pay for the 3 jaw I want for my atlas 618.

Spotted a listing for antique tools that were left over from a recent Swappers Day near our area.

Made arrangements to see what was left this morning (9/22/15) and here is what I bought.

Pic 1--Stanley 346 Miter Box Frame No. 3 including Disston Saw that was nearly complete (i.e. missing a pair of sliding dogs) but with some TLC, was brought back to working condition.

Pic 2--Hollow Auger 7/8" Patent Jan 9, 1866

Pic 3--Kleins Chicago Grip No. 1613-40 used for high strength cable

Pic 4--Auger Small Drill Bit Chuck

Pic 5--2-1/8" boring bit

Pic 6--Three saw sets (Stanley Defiance, Stanley 42X and an aluminum one with just Made in USA on it)

Pic 7--Wood/Buggy wheel wrench
