I hope you can wait longer. I'm still sleeping in the basement from last winter's damage. If we have another winter like the last one, I'll be sleeping in my truck. :lol_hitti

I got this crazy home brew belt sander for free; came out of an old barn.

I haven't checked the motor and it will need a rewire (not grounded) but its actually pretty well sorted out and I could use it.

Picked up a vidmar cabinet today. Just too big for my garage for me to keep.

Dimensions and price? Did you not measure beforehand? Maybe get rid of those crappy block grinders or red gray craftsman tool boxes to make room. :dunno:

It was one of those things that the price was good enough that I couldn't go wrong. If I could make it fit, I would keep it.
If not, I know I can easily sell it.
30" wide X 28.5" deep X 41.5" tall. It's really just too deep for my small garage.

And I like my crappy craftsman boxes.

Parker 975. Great shape, just missing the little C clip to hold the wrench on. Columbian 607 missing the swivel lock nut and the one foot is semi broken off. Bunch of clamps with the wingnut handles, and a duro drill press. I got the drill press for parts I need for the one I own. $350 for all.

Also posted in the Vises of GJ thread, but I picked this Columbian 504 1/2 up last night. I missed the original moving sale this past weekend, but sent an email to the guy asking if the vise was still available (which was not mentioned in the listing). $50

First picture is from the CL ad. The next two are of the vise as it still sits in my trunk.

Not worth pictures, but picked up some license plates today for $3 each. Got a blue Michigan 1990 (I know a guy looking for one), a 68 Michigan, a 69 Florida, and a pair of matching 63 California black plates with 67 stickers.

Had a visit from an older customer today, lovely gent who is sent on moving from his property into a nearby town, said he had some tools to dispose of or they'd be scrapped, would I like a look?

I went down and we bartered our way through, picked up some nice bits of kit, but I must say he did better out of me than he would have the scrap man!

Only one pic as it was late when I finally got home to unload;

IMAG3242.jpg

Stood in for that lot at $90 (£60)

More than I'd have usually paid I think, but it's mostly Snap On & ViceGrips.

Edit: it's not clear but it's stood on a very small topbox & cab that came with the deal.

I was offered one of those Sanders in the spring for $10. I passed on it, I thought it was home made, plus I can't afford the amount of real estate that that it takes up.

I stopped at 2 sales right down the street from my work this am and picked up some cool stuff.

First find was this socket set. It's made by Duro Metal products which is the maker of my drill press. What are the odds of finding a second duro drill press and this socket set this week? It's awesome because it has square drive sockets, I was just wondering where to find these yesterday when trying to take off a square drive bolt.

What are these slotted sockets for?
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1443796399.403946.jpg

Second. A craftsman circular saw with case

I paid $22 for both. Was only able to negotiate down to save $3 but I wanted the 2.

This sale had a lot of staff and the guy in the basement said to ask the lady upstairs about the price of these 3 boxes. He said just fill them up and she'll just charge for the boxes. I offered and paid $20 for the 3.

Second box a craftsman sander. These boxes are perfect to store hand power tools.

I picked up a Wilton for $50 this morning, but it isn't what you're thinking.
I still have to get pictures that I'll post soon.

I had three stops planned this morning, the first was slim pickings. Mostly newer Craftsman and that was pretty much it. The other two were picked over by the time I got to them. If there was anything worth grabbing it was already gone.

The only reason I went to the first stop was because of one picture in the listing.
Otherwise I wouldn't have bothered driving all the way out there. I was able to pick up a small Wilton #99155 Air Filtration unit (made in China, no surprise ). I paid $50 for it, but shop filters don't come around that often around here, so I pounced. (pics 1-6)

For another dollar, I grabbed a pair of Cincinnati #555 1-1/2" *********** clamps as well. (pic 7)

EDIT - The filter is having some issues with the electronic control. I think sawdust got into it, so I'll have to try to take it apart to clean it out and see if I can get it working smoothly again.
Oh, well. :dunno:

Picked up this season's snow tires on CL today. Set of studded wintercat xts, 9/32" left. $100
These are my first set of studded snows, we'll see how I like them. Nobody in my family has ever had studs either...

I was the first stud in our family, my grandpa wanted a son but had 5 daughters, I was the first grandchild, and a boy so he was HAPPY :lol_hitti

I was offered one of those Sanders in the spring for $10. I passed on it, I thought it was home made, plus I can't afford the amount of real estate that that it takes up.

If you don't have a big disc/belt sander, you don't know what you are missing!

I picked up a Wilton for $50 this morning, but it isn't what you're thinking.
I still have to get pictures that I'll post soon.

That's awesome Jake!! I have been collecting parts to build a DIY one, I plan to use an old filing cabinet for the box, weld in a channel where the drawers were for the filter and cut a hole for the exhaust. I have an old HVAC blower for the fan and a variable speed control too, only thing I need now is time and a filter.

Took an extended lunch at work to go to an estate sale. It was about 15 minutes away but half way there I saw another sale and ran in to check out the basement. There was a Kennedy machinist chest for $40 but bottom drawer was broken. I may take another look tomorrow when they have it half price.

Here is what I picked up for $30. I didn't want to pay more than $20 but seller was a tough negotiator. I did get her down from $40.

88c5a18b7bdeddccb9e315235ebd7c23.jpg

Starrett hack saw blades
Lenox sawzall blades
Dayton extractor sets-spiral and square
6lbs brass.
3 starrett 6"/15cm rules
Starrett tap drill size charts

c9643cb9452a2d201c597e5568e49599.jpg

Starrett drive pin punch set (in box)
Craftsman tapered drive punch
3 craftsman ratchets
Ridgid 6" wrench
Crescent 4" adjustable
"Made in Germany" ratcheting tap wrench

Then I got these at the next sale. $10 for this pile

d6a0a9fb68c2138117038b3e71cc54b9.jpg

Wiss snips
2 picks (I never knew these exited until a year ago. They are great for restoration work)
Screwdriver bits
Milwaukee blades
3m electrical tape. I just used up my last roll
PVC cement
Milwaukee sawzall scraper
1/2 lb tin/lead solder
Peterson vise grips
Greenlee 100' fish tape

And for another $10

Good stuff Matt, I have that same fish tape, used it most recently to run cat5 through the attic and carport, then out to the garage. Made it easy and the best part, I got mine from my scrap guy in trade for scrap, he found it in a dumpster. The things people throw away...

Good scores man!
