Mr. P that's a great haul for 10 bucks.

Pic #1: Some other tools from the last couple weeks.

Pic#2: misc ratchets

Pic #3: Blackhawk set for $5.00. Stopped at a moving sale and told the owner I was looking for tools. He sold me the rail of Husky sockets and ratchet in Pic #1 for $5.00, then pulled this Blackhawk set. At first I expected junk because the box is rough but the tools are near mint! :rocker:

Pic #4 : Williams spanners, misc wrenches and flex sockets, Craftsman 1/4 stubby socket drivers.

Pic#5: AC Delco flex ratchet, Craftsman Amber handle screwdrivers, Plomb LA punch

Pic #6: Craftsman amber handles and Plomb LA punch

Pic#7: from picture 1, Bell System Thorsen Tool Co. box.

That's a push drill, not a screwdriver. Bits are stored in the handle.

Mr P: great finds for $10. I never used to look for the more miscellaneous stuff at garage sales, but now have started. Some great bargains can be found.

Some nice old tools guys. ^

Blue Bomber, obviously you got ripped off and I agree that can't be an authentic Hazet without the stickers. Pack it up and send it over here for disposal.

:lol_hitti You **** on that one!

WNYFlyer Nice set, found those cape chisels in a catalog.

Dave, nice NOS vise grip and pics.

3bay, Your the man  Thanks for the catalog photo. I kind of thought you might have the proper catalog. Now the search is on !

Also great score on that mint Blackawk socket set and also the AC ratchet. I picked up that same ratchet a couple months back or so. Had no idea about it but the guys here gave me the lowdown on it in this thread. Looks like some decent sales coming up this week also

BB, I kind of like/prefer those small table saws with the tilt table for a lot of work. With a reasonable out-feed its fine for ripping ordinary boards, and for small detail work you can reach it without stretching to do s mall stuff.

I don't like a table saw for cutting big sheet stock, for that I use a skill saw and straight edge and I've done a lot of cabinet grade and even furniture that way...

I have one about that size and age and I've seriously considered selling off my doubled 10" 50's craftsman setup, and replacing it with the little guy..

$25 at a yard sale of all tools. Very expensive but I did OK. Tube of grease, 1 SK, 2 Cman, 2 snap on, Cornwell swivel socket and 13 Matco 1/4" drive deep metric sockets.

My $90 spend yesterday, probably not **** worthy but I did get a handful of things I needed (because I need everything).

It is mostly craftsman with some harbor freight sockets in the mix. I'm not sure what brand the box is.

Highlights were the stanley double pivoting 3/8 ratchet.
Companion branded ratchets that have never seen before.
And a Greene and tweed no.a reversible ratcheting wrench.

I've been chomping at the bit to post pix of my purchases from the past week but have been so busy, I haven't had the time to document everything.

The first post is from the local Restore. Total of $37.50

There are roughly 50 files - Most of which are new and some I've never seen before.
Challenger socket box with a mixture of SK and un-marked US-made breaker & T-bar (possibly Challenger?).
Plomb 3/8 extension (that has been filed down)
3x vintage Craftsman sockets
HM open-ended wrenches
Williams combo wrench
3 mini pliers

The next items came from a sale listed on CL. From the photos and description, I could tell that the seller was out of his element because everything was scattered across multiple folding tables in the middle of his shop - so I couldn't wait to get there!

After making my initial pile, I spoke with the seller (owner of the motorcycle shop). He stated that all the stuff came from someone who owed him money and this was an attempt at recovering the debt. There were prices on many of the items, but this seller didn't care. His comment was "Make any offer" - so I went back to work sorting through tables and bins.

Total spent: $130. It will take a while to finish photographing everything, so stay tuned for more photos over the next couple of days.

Here are the first 7 photos:

Next up - Hammers!

There are some really great vintage hammers in this lot (as well as a couple of chinese items)

Picture 1 is the whole lot
Picture 2 is a close-up of a VLCHECK ball-peen. First time seeing one!
Pictures 3 & 4 are Plumb hammers - one a roofing hatchet, and the other a framing hammer.
Pictures 5 and 6 are of a Craftsman framer.
Picture 7 is a "Dynamic" framer
All of the rest are either un-marked, or made in China

- Proto 5249 3/8" ratchet
- Imperial flaring kit (my second set in the past few weeks - I love these!)
- Peck Stow & Wilcox adjustable wrench
- Some unusual pliers - including a pair of slip-joint pliers that in spite of its appearance is BEASTLY!
- Yet another mini-vise

Got a good story for y'all today.

So this welder popped up for sale today on Facebook.
It's a Lincoln SA200.
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1446643833.628165.jpg

I didn't know much about welders but I knew enough that it was a steal at $100. I ring the number up and tell him I want it. Get address etc.
5 minutes later I pull the post up and these are the comments.
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1446643895.513218.jpg
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1446643902.363771.jpg

I get headed there and meet the guy. The first thing he says to me is "how about I give YOU $300 and you turn around and go home?"

He has realized he way underpriced it.
I say let's go look at it so we do, it's decent, I don't know what I'm looking for besides that the motor spins over, everything is there. No battery so couldn't start it. I call a buddy up to see what he thinks since he knows about them, he says make sure everything is there, give the guy the $100 and get out of there. I pull out $100 and hand it to him and start loading it up.
The guy says to me "how about $500 and you go home?"
I still say no. Finish hooking up, he tries one last tactic...... "I better call my father in law to make sure that he isn't a partial owner on it" I tell him put it on speaker phone. Father in law says "no I don't have any use for a welder and it isn't mine"
Bingo.
So off I went with a welder for $100.
I brought a trailer with me since the tires on welder were shot, wouldn't fit on my trailer so I had to leave it there..... Hopefully it will still be there when I go back today, I put a lock on it. Thankfully the welder made it back home in one piece.

early bird gets the worm, Kudos to the seller for actually selling it to you for 100

Yes I meant to put that in the post. Any other guy would of just said "I decided not to sell, here's some gas money"
Was very surprised he kept his word and for the price listed. Almost makes me feel bad........... Let's still if I get my trailer back first..

Looks like you got a Lincoln Sa200 blackface. I had one, but never got it running. If you look on the face plate (black with the dials) you will see a code and serial number, post the numbers and I'll get you the books on the machine. For parts I recommend http://bwparts.com/ they have anything you should need.

You are awesome.

Code 7789

Serial: 849372

Which I believe makes it a 1978. Not a favorable year from my research due to copper and aluminum windings but hey, a welder for $100? I can scrap it for that. Or I know someone that has my trailer that will give atleast $500 for it......

Kept his word, hum more like caught a theif red handed and they decided against it. Hopefully your trailer is there when you get back. Not sure if I would have done that seeing as how sneaky the seller was acting.

Here's the manual and a parts breakdown sheet. Also your right about the date it is a 1978. I had a '73. The biggest thing when going through these is to clean out the gas tank heavily and rebuild the carb and put it in a ultrasonic cleaner.
I'll look for the service manual next. Added in another helpful page.

http://www.lincolnelectric.com/assets/servicenavigator-public/lincoln3/im276.pdf

http://www.billswelderrepair.com/files/SA200P23.pdf

https://www.weldmart.com/main/technical/

Thank you so much!! That's what I'm doing now. Gas tank looked great, carb not so much... Broke the sediment bowl so will have to get a new one. Pulled the air filter off and it had what looks to be old gas? Like gel in the bottom of it. No idea how it got there. Maybe tank drained into carb, overflowed into filter. I'll see how far I get with it. Any advice on the generator side of it cleaning wise before starting?

Edit: thought about it a little.... Oil bath air filter. Smelled like gas though and looked like gas.

Last Monday, a buddy took me to a fellow who had a yard sale and I purchased an oak 5 drawer machinist chest.

Decided to refinish it and was fortunate, as most items were there from either first or last owner, who had also wanted to refinish it but didn't get around to it.

Pics 1-6 are as it appears now.

Pic 7 was taken, in hopes that someone might recognize the handle holder that are attached on top of chest for it to be carried. Chest had a Yale lock, but no identifying information on who the mfg might have been.

So, if you recognize the maker, would like to know who it is.

Thks

Mike

Pulled the air filter off and it had what looks to be old gas? Like gel in the bottom of it. No idea how it got there. Maybe tank drained into carb, overflowed into filter. I'll see how far I get with it. Any advice on the generator side of it cleaning wise before starting?

Edit: thought about it a little.... Oil bath air filter. Smelled like gas though and looked like gas.

Yup they use an oil bath. It probably smelled of gas from someone using starting fluid in the past. For cleaning of the generator side I'd blow it out with compressed air. Also you can take off the cap on the barrel sticking out for the front and lightly shine up the commutator with some fine emery cloth or scotch brite.

Never use emery on a commutator. The abrasive grains are conductive and will short circuit the commutator bars if it gets between them. Fine sandpaper is OK. Make sure the brushes slide freely in the brush holders.

Thks

Mike

Mike,

Send pictures to Terry Rushbrook,

He will probably be able to help you with identification.

I brought a trailer with me since the tires on welder were shot, wouldn't fit on my trailer so I had to leave it there..... Hopefully it will still be there when I go back today, I put a lock on it. Thankfully the welder made it back home in one piece.

Lmao, when i first read it i thought you left the welder there with a lock on it but then realized you left YOUR trailer there so you could bring the welder back. That, to me, is hilarious. Congrats on a great score.

Pawn shop haul the other day. Some of it was priced, some of it not. I threw it all on the counter and the guy says $10. Sounds good to me. My first ever King ****
