Lmao, when i first read it i thought you left the welder there with a lock on it but then realized you left YOUR trailer there so you could bring the welder back. That, to me, is hilarious. Congrats on a great score.

And got my trailer hooked on to my truck on way back home now too! Thank you sir

Just got first dibs on a sale which is supposed to start on Friday morning. Seller was on HER way home, so I said, "I can meet you there since I'm only 15 minutes away". Seller said, "I don't really have all the tools and outdoor stuff organized yet because it's been raining so much so it's kind of a mess but we can look around together"

That made me smile because women typically don't price tools correctly!

This is what I ended up buying for a grand total of $21......

1 - Corona 16-ft Fiberglass Bypass Pole Pruner (with 2 blades)
1 - Stanley 48 in. Top Read Aluminum Level
1 - 25-ft Red/Black Outdoor Extension Cord
1 - True Temper Hickory handle sledge hammer maul (10Lbs?)
5 - Paint Polyester Brushes (2x3" and 3x4")
1 - Truper Cast-Iron Tamper 8"x8"

Never use emery on a commutator. The abrasive grains are conductive and will short circuit the commutator bars if it gets between them. Fine sandpaper is OK. Make sure the brushes slide freely in the brush holders.

If you can get it in there, a pencil eraser can work well without removing too much material or scoring the contacts.

Joe: That's a nice looking press. Pretty big for a bench top model. It looks like it's another case where lettering has dropped out of the casting. Looks like it should be "LITTLE GIANT" but the end quote marks are missing. Nice find.

Grats on the arbor press. I have the same one that I purchased at a yard sale ~20 years ago for $50. I love it!

If I remember right "little Giant " is a Greenfield Tap and Die brand. That should be a nice flipper at that price !

1/2" snap-on speed wrench
Miller Falls stainless compound square
50' Dial tape

2 pair of like new 10 R vise grips with 1942 pat. date.
4" bent nose vise grip NIB 1992

a mix of old sockets / walden and others
Craftsman awl
channel lock slip joint pliers with package

TOP: Be sure to look up that brace before you sell it. I don't remember the name but all the big woodworking gurus have one - Roy Underhill, Chris Schwarz. I've been keeping my eyes peeled for one for about a year.

I won this metal cabinet at an auction last week for $12. I bid on it because of the style of the doors. I had never seen anything like it...that and i am a sucker for these old industrial metal cabinets. The doors fold into the cabinet, allowing complete access to the drawers and open shelves underneath.

Does anyone know any information about this style of metal cabinet? What was it used for or what companies made them? The badge on the front is missing and I haven't found anything on it to help in my research.

It could be from a bank, but because of the dividers in the drawer tray, probably from a Post Office. Both used this sort of cabinet because of security issues. The PO used them for stamps and the banks for cash.

They are very stout - and HEAVY!!! A friend bought a bunch from a bank and used them for keeping machine tool accessories and bits. The drawers are so overbuilt that they still roll smoothly when completely filled with pieces of steel!

So I was jonsing and it has been 2 months almost since I've really bought tools or been to a sale. Since I'm in Texas I stopped at a pawn shop and found bins of sockets and tools and started digging. Alot of proto some Mac tool, plumb, snapon, and a bonney. Picked them all up for $15 and I'll be checking them in my luggage for the flight home!

Yes, the 3 56 would be the build date for that grinder. That style of Cman grinder is what we've been calling a "pre-Block", because it has similar lines to the round top block grinders, but is slightly different.

Jake, I forget, what is the prefix that makes them a true block grinder?:headscrat

Here is a couple of items that I'm not sure about.

Pic 1 & 2-- Mystery item that appears to be in two matching pairs

Pic 3 & 4--The lock on left is marked Master Lock. It has a slide mechanism when unlocked, that slides closed/open. What is it used for? The other lock on right is a Fulton Coupler Lock TowReady Gorilla Guard

Any help on the two Mystery Items would be appreciated.

The black lock is for a trailer tongue. It covers the ball socket. The other one I think does the same thing in a different way. It looks like it clamps inside the socket. Both make it impossible to use the hitch.

Pete is correct. The chromed Master Lock is also a Trailer Hitch Lock. I have them on all my trailers.
I have no idea what the first items are. :dunno:

Got this little guy today, Starrett #453B die maker's square with standard and bevel blades, in original box. Someone with the initials RAP decided to stamp them on both sides, sigh.

These are hard to find in good shape or for a reasonable price. This particular variant appears to be discontinued.

One of the knobs is for loosening/tightening the blade, 2nd knob is a fine adjust that can kick the blade out to 10°.

These are over a couple days this week.
These are finds from what was estate sale advertised as a garage sale.
A little CM Machinest box, $10. A little rough, drawer work fine, will be ago good repaint project, a MAC harmonic puller, looks like it's only been used once, 3 boxes of chip paint brushes, I'll be set for awhile., CM 100' steel tape, CM piston ring compressor, probably the best deal is the full 1 gal can of Acetone, $2

Also, a CM rasp for body work? It's heavy duty, never seen one before

A whole mess of clamps

Here's a diffrent clamp. It's a Grand dual grip c- clamp. Haven't found out much about them yet.

Over on the next tailgate, a Lista I picked up this week. A little rougher than the CL photos showed, but I'm going to paint to match the others anyway, drawer bearings need a aft/acetone bath and some fresh oil. It cost $200, not a best deal, but when repaint is done I'll have a nice box for the money.

I just started posting the large pics directly on the forum and don't know why it does this. I fixed once before and was fine in the preview. I'm not quite that screwd up, close, but enough to post six time:lol_hitti.
I'll fix up.

It's all the correct photos.

In the meantime, ya done good. Acetone is like liquid gold in my garage, I can't find it anywhere close.
