Lug, I'm pretty much certain this gas spout is semi modern production. It's certainly not brass. It seems to be decently made but Probably civy, not mil.

Col, that's a cool little hammer; can we get better pics of both that and the Boot knife?

Outlaw, here's pix of the hammer. I have to study up on resolution for posting pix taken w iPad. Sorry about the quality. Knife blade is pretty corroded, looking to identify makers marks without destroying patina.

Hammer is two pieces, handle and head, handle goes completely thru the head. Doesn't appear to be threaded or welded. Both pieces appear to be machine turned, very fine finish. Material is magnetic.

Outlaw, the knife blade is oxidized so much, it's very hard to photograph clearly. With a light and magnifying glass, I've identified the maker marks and researched on military forums. Attached photo is not my knife, but clearly shows identical markings (with eception, there is no "GERMANY" stamp). I don't want to ruin the patina like this on mine leave that to the next owner.

Sorry guys, I've been absent but occasionally checking in lately.
This week has been spent planning my mother's funeral for tomorrow and getting the house ready for company.
Hoping to be more active soon.

Sorry to hear of this Jake, I hope everything went smooth with the planning and preping.

I picked these up through a online pawn shop store! This place has been very hit or miss with me. About 90% of my orders get cancelled because someone buys them in-store and they don't delete there listing.

1. Snap-on 8 piece 12pt metric 10 degree offset wrenches 6mm through 20mm. $70 shipped and they cost over $300 new!

2.Snap-on 3/8 flex ratchet with trashed handle $40 shipped.

Jake, very sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Everybody, I did not get anywhere this week. Good to see so many others keeping busy out there.

I did pass a few estate sale signs on the way to visit someone recovering from back surgery, and was tempted to veer off course, but no just kept on driving.:)

You guys were showing off monkey wrenches the other day, that was about all I grabbed last week end.

it is a 6.5" Bemis and Call H & T monkey wrench, uses a hex nut to adjust the jaws.

Usually I see these these in larger versions with a monkey wrench on one side and a pipe jaws on the other.

Nice pick-ups.

Handles are $12.50 online from Snap-On. Just got some replacements for mine.

That soft handle is easily replaced.

Those shorty DBE's are great. Those are the ones I find myself going to the most. Easy to fit in small spaces.

Thanks for all the comments on the Snap On box that I got. Made me feel that I hadn't made a big mistake in the purchase. This really wasn't my first hunt, I'm usually just looking for bargains on hand tools and others things that interest me. I've never paid much attention to tool boxes as I have a couple of Kennedy's that hold what I've got. This one just caught my eye that day as something a little different. After doing some research on the K260, I believe that I got it fairly decent price (maybe just at a medium YOU ****!!! level). ;)

Thanks to all of you that post messages & photos of your finds & great deals, ya'll really open my eyes (and lighten my wallet) on some great tools that I wasn't aware of previously.

Someone had requested that I post some additional photos of the Snap On box, so here you go.

You should make good money on it! This one is on ebay for a premium.

A good day today. Bought these two 6" sanders, one Wilton , one Rockwell and the Lassy Hand tapper. Pd 135 each for the sanders and 50 for the tapper.

Sanders need to be repowered from 208v 3 phase to 115v single phase but that is easy-peasy.

I had to dismantle my Wilton sander to move it. That one has a 2 hp motor in it and I just couldn't wrangle it by myself.

Are you replacing the motors or using a converter to change from three phase to single phase ?

I have a friend who rebuilds motors. For 100-150 bucks I can get a used 1 or 1.5 hp 56 frame baldor or marathon and just swap out the motors. The motors reside in the base, the sander runs on a pulley and belt and it will take less than an hour to replace so thats what I do.

The motor in the Wilton currenrly is a 2 hp Baldor.

My only concern really is whether the Wilton is a rebadged Jet and therefore made overseas. I work diligently to only have US made stuff in my shop.

Well, I almost forgot the items I picked up last Saturday. The two hand made cabinets and all of their contents for $20. I liked them for their cool handmade vintage look. The nails and screws, rivets, etc are just a bonus.

Like the sander come? Then come and get it! :lol_hitti

I just put the sander on CL for $280 with 3 phase power. It has a Baldor 2hp motor in it. I hope it goes fast.

The hand tapper...2nd one in 2 months I've found. Really handy if you have the room. A real luxury item for the home shop. I do not have the room.

Boy is the Wilton sander nice. Just tore it down, definetly made my Delta Rockwell. I can interchange parts.

Oh, by the way. A public Thanks to Bagged S10 (Veeps) for finding these for me. YOU DA MAN!!!

Great price you paid on the sanders, but I definitely like the Lassy Hand tapper you got at a great price.

Like you said, if you had the room and needed a hand tapper, it would be great to have in the shop.

Good finds and thanks for sharing!!!

I had to work all last weekend and didn't get a chance to go to any so. But a buddy of mine pick this up for me at a farm auction on Saturday for a whopping $2.50. I gave him five bucks for it. I'm not sure on the maker yet but it's going about 90 pounds and 6 inch jaws

TOP: you doubled his money for picking it up for you. :lol_hitti

i'm sure you'd do the same for him so good to have more eyes on the prizes so to speak.

just an FYI. go to your local feed and seed store and pick up a rubber 3/4 inch thick 6x4 foot mat for your truck cause i'm sure there are a few bumps in your roads where your vises will be banging on that metal bed.

ALL: so just curious who will be hosting the NEW THREAD for 2017? is there a poll or does JAKE just need to make a choice?

JAKE: WELL DONE hosting the thread this year and not that you have a lot of time, but do you have a few of your personal favorites found and posted this year?

cheers

Well, so far Top has been nominated and seconded, and Cody has volunteered for the task.

Any other nominations? :dunno:

Any other nominations host of the 6th annual GJ garage Sale thread for 2017?

I've also "red flagged" prior Hosts, and maddawg308 (banned), and Jeff Moss (Our Founder) have also hosted

Will you (or someone) start a poll once you get some nominations?

Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk

Sure!

Poll, or at least counted votes should probably be limited to people that have posted in the Garage sale threads...

:wtf: It sounds like you are trying to egg on my pick'en addiction... :D

My favorite seller is having a nice sale tomorrow and I have to work. Looks like I'm going to strike out this weAk.

Yes, it's that time again!

I would be happy to host the 2017 garage sale thread if anyone wants me to!

With Cosy and myself "retired" and trying to stay that way, I think topop should get the nod.

All: I'll cast my vote for TOP too if he wants the job. especially since he's finally building his big shop i think he might up his game and need to buy some even bigger and cooler tools and machines.

not that other members are not deserving of the job, but the votes are not for picking several members. what's this i hear about guys RETIRING FROM BUYING TOOLS can this be TRUE? remember if you quit dreaming and getting out and about the will to live isn't as great so maybe just change up your routes or places you buy STUFF. or sell and buy new different STUFF.

not that i have a specific goal, but i would like to never again have to drive to the HARDWARE store in the middle of a project again for a tool or part to finish up a job around the house. DRIVES HARDWARE is my so called dream.

cheers

Well this is starting to sound like a conspiracy LOL I guess we'll see what the tally is

Drives just make an update , I'm no longer building that shop. I gave that property to my daughter and relocated to a place that has a small 25 x 30 shop and a full basement for storage and clean work . I raised my girls in that house and now one of them is going to raise my grandsons there. And I spent 20 years reconstructing that old place and it will serve them well .
After further examination at lunch I found the maker mark on the post vise. It's an iron city and has 5-3/4 inch jaws!
