Came up pretty empty this weekend. The knife was $2. I'm cheating because the drill bit index wasn't from a g-sale.

And here is a later version from the 1942 catalog with blue badges. by 48 they had dropped the boxes and went to the wrench racks. (See above a few posts)

And they also made one for the deep offset DBE's

Outlaw - I'm going to throw a You **** your way, just for the Cman wrench box alone. The rest is just overkill.

Was probably the coolest find! The wrenches didn't come with it, I added those so I have 1/2 the set! The wear marks under the open ends match EXACTLY!! Mid 30's to probably 42 or so based on the yellow Long C Craftsman logo. I've never seen a carry box with the wrench rack in it!

Oh it all came to $15!

Good weekend for old Craftsman stuff!. Two questions? You have an add on the 1/4 set I picked today ? And the Circle H... Hinsdale? Or Husky . I know Hinsdale (H) brackets the H or has a FAT H I can't recall...:dunno:

Circle H on Craftsman tools was early Husky and New Britain (after they bought Husky IIR)

Hinsdale's Logo was a "fat" H where the curves were about like Parenthisis are, and were about like this: (H) only they were the verticals of the H (-)

If you are talking about my Hinsdale ad in my GS thread, I think I do have similar ratchets.

Stopped by 2 sales and and old time hardware store today.

Small BP hammer, Ridgid adjustable, 3 different padlocks, drill stand, screw gauge, bunch of 1/4" tapcons

Kwikset knob and deadbolts, missing some parts, nothing I can't fix!

Estate finds

Not bad for $10, this is the first p&c screwdriver I've seen. The gehdore adjustable is in kinda rough shape.

Surprised to find my first WRIGHT! socket in a box of sockets (misc) i bought for $10. Unfortunately it was my only one. My first Wright item found at an estate/yard/etc sale for me in Missouri.

Picked up these brand new matco screwdrivers at a garage sale for 4 whole dollars! I thought that was a pretty good deal.

And I grabbed this werner ladder from craigslist for a reasonable price but not a steal like the screwdrivers above.

Picked up some items at the local flea market today. First this very nice Parker 973 1/2. Lots of dirt but swivels and opens beautifully. Pd $25

Got this fine US made 8" wire wheel for $5 .

Finally, bought this Wesco hydraulic hand truck for $150. I need to put new seals in it as it leaks but it does work well. It will cost $100 to have a pro rebuild it but it will make moving big iron in my shop MUCH easier.

Not much this weekend, but a couple small items.

1st a Lufkin 6" steel rule with temperature correction scale for tape measures. I think this came as part of a Lufkin tape measure repair kit, but have no proof, just an educated guess. It has scales in 1/10 inch, 1/16 inch, and 1/100 foot.

Next is this Keuffel + Esser no. 1741 map measure with swivel handle. Dial reads to 39" or 99 cm. Made in Switzerland. Chrome is beautiful except for a little box wear on the rear. And best of all, it works!

Have not posted in a while, been working most weekends the past few months, so I have not had a chance to get out to any sales until the beginning Of January.

Anyways, I hit the ******** perfect storm of family doing their own estate sale, and hardly anyone showing up till later on Saturday. The sale was advertised on CL as, "estate sale, tools, buy one, get one free" no pictures, just an address. I show up at the place 45 minutes early, and I'm the only one in line, well, and my wife, who comes yard saleing with me from time to time. The house and property look like a bomb went off. Apparently the father was a major hoarder and bought all kinds of ****, and there was **** everywhere. In the next ten minutes, two other people show up. A guy who looks to be in his early 20's comes out, says sale is the yard and garage, come on in. Wife heads for the kitchen **** in the yard, I head for the garage. I literally had to climb over ****, and team up with the two other guys to move **** out of the way to get to the garage door. It's the old Model T kind that has double swing open doors. We get the door open, and its waist high in ****. There's 2 big roll away's toward the back. I don't waste a second and start climbing over with my bucket, one guy follows, the other say's, "**** that" and heads for the yard. I hit the larger roll away, and it is a mix of cheap ****, Snap On, Mac, and different makers like, bonny, Armstrong, Plomb, you know the drill.

I fill my bucket in a few minutes and start using anything in the garage that will hold tools. The other guy is doing the same. We get a good 20 minutes before anyone else shows up and ventures in. I start dragging out my loot, call over the wife, and have her watch the pile. There was no rhyme or reason to the place. It was like playing Dig Dug. In a bucket full of trash would be a few tools. Dig straight down, find a few tools on the floor. Took me two hours to dig out my haul, at that point my wife was getting pretty pissed, and it was elbow to elbow in the garage, people falling, **** breaking, so I wrapped it up. Put on my game face, fetched the kid running the thing, and asked how much for the pile?

He said $100, holy ****, I nearly **** out a kitten. I gave him the cash, and hauled it to the car. This is the best tool deal I think I have ever got at any yard or estate sale, ever. So here's what I got.

The tools poured out on the bench
IMG_1808.jpg

60 pounds of 1" copper welding ground cable
IMG_1809.jpg

A Silentaire Super Silent 30 airbrush compressor. Tested it out, unfourtunatly it does not work. Maybe I can fix it.

JUNKTASTIC Major score! I'd go back!!!

I did go back after dropping off the wife. He was closing up early because he had some family emergency to attend to. Said he would be doing it again next weekend, so I'll go back. There's got to be something else there.
