Cody, my luck they would let 20 people in and the shop would be cleaned out by the time I got in...

Good luck this weekend guys, everything has been canceled around here due to weather so maybe next weekend for us.

I got to the only Friday sale 10min late this morning and ended up waiting in line on the street for an hour and a half to get in. It turns out that only the garage and carriage house were open. The house was closed. While waiting, I saw the early regulars walking out empty handed and shaking their heads. That should have been a big red flag, but I stayed anyway. It turned out that the sale was a glorified garage sale. The place was packed solid with boxes, but it was mostly junk. There were some interesting antiques, but the prices were retail+.

It looks like I'll be living vicariously through Cody's finds today. Can't wait for the pics. :bounce:

A few iffy possibles for tomorrow, we'll see how it goes.

Went to a couple sales this morning, one had a garage full of tools. Mostly junk, but bought $24 worth. A 6" diamond adjustable, 3 diamalloy pliers/cutters, one nye cutters, one stanley pliers, a few p&C, Proto, Indestro and SK tools, a nice 1/4" SK Socket set complete, a general drill size plate, a mini maglite, and a new condition snap on 7/16 swivel socket.

Also got a nice Husqvarna sewing machine with a full set of cams and accessories for $65, and a metal shop cabinet for $15.

A nice $104 dollar sale.

The tool chest were priced way to high the two piece craftsman was $300 and the craftsman workstation was $150. I really wanted the workstation but even at half off $75 it is too much and i have no space for it. The sales people were being dumb and would not sell the vices attached to the workbenches they said it is part of the house? They said it would be too hard to take off and when people offered to take them off themselves they still said no?

I got these grinders for $10 each and they both work. I first saw the older one with no price and the lady priced it at $15 and i said okay but later on i found one almost the same for $10 so i got that one too and asked the guy in the basement if i can get the other one for $15 and he said the deal is done? So i went back to the lady and told her i found the same one for $10 and she changed it for me so both for $20! I am not 100% sure what these are for are they basically like the newer two sided grinders with the stones or are they for polishing?

Cody, the "grinders" appear to be just regular motors with a slip-on/setscrew Arbor added. you didn't get hurt at those prices regardless. the second one with the Drill chuck looks to be an appliance motor.

Just a teaser here for now - I won a couple of lots of tools in an on-line auction last night, among them were six drill indexes - full! I've never encountered this before.

More to come after Monday when I pick up all the winnings.

While walking back from depositing rent, I came across an estate sale at a house behind the Fire Department. Turns out the fire department had been given the house by the city and a volunteer was heading up the sale to make some extra cash for the fire department. The previous owner had apparently just used the house as a place to dump random **** so it was one of the most bizarre sales I've been to.
Came out with a black and decker workmate for $2 and the rest was $5 (the file was the only tool I could find in there....)

The next one I need some help with. I picked it up at the local antique sale and figured for $10 it was worth picking up and finding out what its for  Anybody have any idea? Looks like the holder is for some type of impact gun possibly?

The box is probably for a 1/4" corded drill.

That's a Usuck if I ever saw one on the B&D WorkMate! (A good thing since you are new...)

Picked this up today. It isn't a tool per say, but it is a snowmobile/atv safety vest. $20. Looks like the retail on it may have been around $470.

I saw one of these at another estate sale too so i thought they were mass produced? Regardless i will find a use for them somewhere!

Cody, as an FYI, the RHFT is an excellent Rat, Probably the best Craftsman ever sold. think about it: early 1970's and 90 tooth! (well technically 45 but double pawl so 2X that...)

I bought the 1/2 and 3/8 new back in the day and have bought a number of additional in recent years, Plus the 1/4" which I never did buy back them. you can still get kits from Sears if you work it right. (DO NOT trade it in!)

I believe that's a standard handle 1/2" but Cody still deserves a YOU ****!

Was over at my barber's and he told me of a couple of auto restorations he was doing and asked if I wanted to see them.

Went out and while looking over the project cars, spotted a cast iron stand that looked like it ran on a line shaft and may have been used as a grinder or buffer. which had Miller cast on it and a metal tag which said the following:

PAT. NO. _________ SER. NO ___23
CHAS E MILLER CORPORATION
ANDERSON RUBBER WORKS
MANUFACTURERS OF
FULL CIRCLE RETREADERS
VULCANIZING EQUIPMENT
ELECTRIC WINDMILLS
AND SPECIAL RUBBER WORKS
ANDERSON INDIANA U.S.A.

Pic 1 is what it looked like when got it and pic 2 is the tag on it.

Ended up buying it, so third pic is after I used PB Blaster to loosened up the nuts/shaft and allowed the babbitt bearings and oilers to be exposed.

Mike

Bin of rubber feet and power cord strain reliefs. I've always had a need for them but never bothered to buy them new. Now I can replace them when I put a new power cord on.

The trick to those strain relief's is having pliers suitable for compressing them, otherwise its a pain... But nice fund. I've done the same and have a supply of 2 different sizes.

I should grind a spare pair of pliers for that since I've never found a "Made for it" pair...
