If it is, there probably is no marking to indicate the mfg.

Mike, no markings on it at all. So your guess is probably right. I was wondering who made it.
The Craftsman Crown bottle caps are cool and weird!

picked up a few goodies this past week...
Never saw a vise with the underline logo, so had to snag it. Heavy beast, 4 1/2" wide jaws that dont seem removable....
The underlined logo is referred to by most as "long C" Early 1930's-40's .

Picked up this crown logo Craftsman 6512 at the flea market on Saturday. Pretty good shape for its age I'd say and should clean up nicely. $12 including the gun cleaning supplies inside which will be passed on to someone else who needs them.
Got this to replace a newer but much more beat up 6500 that has been serving as a portable box for many uses over the years.

On Tues (4/19-16), went to an early tool only auction sale and picked up a few things.
Pic 1 and 2--Prentiss No. 19 vise with 3.5 inch jaws, swivel base and dynamic jaw.
Pic 3 was a surprise, as when I was cleaning up vise, a US Navy Emblem on back portion of dynamic jaw appeared. I'm guessing it was owner added, but if anyone else should know anything different, would like more information.
Pic 4 & 5 is a hand auger/borer and fairly large size as better seen in pic 5
Pic 6 is a wood/coal stoker iron
Pic 7 is a wooden handle shovel.

After Auction, I stopped at a local flea market, as was hoping that my offer on Monday for a treadle machine and attachments, had been accepted.

I tried hitting up a Goodwill store and a ReStore in Panama City, FL, on my way to the airport. Got skunked at both locations. Good luck to the other weekday bargain hunters!

Skipped the auction this week, didn't see any yard sales which was strange since it was a nice weekend. Monday I went to the flea market, it was loaded with tools!! I spent nearly $70, had to stop when I ran out of cash.
Several sellers provided me with this pile. I was excited to find a pair of Malco crimping pliers, been looking for a pair for a few months. I bought way too many adjustable wrenches, but most were brands I didn't own. Couple of craftsman locking pliers, one needs a spring but it was only 50 cents. I have way to many screw drivers but the Williams was pristine along with the Rosco, and I couldn't pass on the red Mac hard handle.
Also picked up a loaded tool box for $5
Only tossed about 6 tools that were junk or broken rest are serviceable. Picked out my favorites and took this pic.
Stanley hammer, German made pipe wrench, Vaco nut driver and screw starter, tin snips no brand I could see, 2 Lectrolite DOE, Cornwell DOE, Snap On combo, Arrow adjustable wrench, and a pair of Goodrich shears.

That's just like one I repaired last year. Had to repair a drawer, the lifting mechanism and restore the finish on the top. Yours looks good to me.

Thanks for the comments on the treadle sewing machine.
Craptain, The Free Sewing Machine Co used metal grooved cage frames which the wooden boxes would slide in/out of. I have one of the six wood drawers that I'll need to add a small piece along the rail, to make it work right.
BTW, did you notice on yours whether the metal pulls were inserted with spike ends instead of the usual threaded screws with a nut on the end? I have one pull that is loose and so wondering best way to trap it in place, given the spike ends have worn the hole large enough to slip out with a hard pull on it.
The rest was in pretty good shape and that's the dilemma, as had a buyer lined up to use the base to make a high end table top, but once wife saw it, she has other plans!!! After 42 years, Momma always wins out!!!

I believe your auger is a vintage barrel bung drill. Neat items. What did you pay for the vise?

Last trip to my anvil clean out...plus a couple of other stops...
First my used Kennedy Versa box with a Parker 974 mounted on it-pd $100. Next bought this 85# farriers anvil from a fellow gj member, then I got these two fairly rough anvils, a 152 lb Hay Budden and a 218 lb Peter Wright, pd .61 lb. Last thing, behind them you can see the 200lb cast stand I picked up for $75. Done with anvils for a while.....
Oh, not pictured is another 90 lb Universal Machinist vise I got from the same GJ member

Possibly. But I have one that came from a shipwright. The traditional shipwright had them in several sizes.

Just happen to have a vintage wooden barrel and on it, ********* was 2 inches. Checked the bung drill that just bought and it would do 2-1/2 inch holes.
Craptains probably right, as they probably would have done different sizes.
BTW, on the Prentiss No. 19, got confirmation from Getridaone that he also has same anchor on his as I do on mine. I'll re-post pics showing anchor on both of ours below. Did find out that Prentiss did sell a Prentiss line called the Anchor Line. So, now feeling it was stamped by Prentiss rather than a previous owner.
Price of vise with buyer premium and taxes was just over $30.

Picked up my purchases from the April tool auction locally. I ended up with 4 lots of tools this time but cheap deals. Each lot was only $5 each. With bidder fee and tax I got away for just under $25 total.
Lot #1 was a box of misc tools that included an old Wilton clamp and a Sampson Clamp. A new box of band clamps and assorted other items.
Lot #2 was some safety equipment. A hard hat from an IBEW worker, ear muffs, safety glasses and a couple sets of steel toe covers.
Lot #3 was this group of Xcelite drivers.
Lot #4 was a well worn lathe face plate. It has some chips and chunks missing but I have a re-purpose idea in mind for it as a swivel table of sorts that I can still clamp projects to or a small vise for welding and turning the project.

Rm what Dia is the face plate? I've been wanting yo find one at least 16" for that very purpose. (better, 18-24...)

This one measures 13 3/4 inches diameter. I've tried a few times at auction to win one cheap but always failed. This one is probably too beat up for anyone's lathe so perfect for my use. Also thought of using an old lathe chuck but this may prove more versatile.

Yeah, it's sweet. Im setting it up for my workbench for vise restoration. Going to replace the vise thats on it. The only issue is which one? Ive got 80 in the shop...

With all the guns, knives, antiques and consumables to pick through I'd be there in a heartbeat especially that close. The new in box craftsman set is maybe last on the interest list at a place like this. Go forth and shop!
