Great finds for the Friday before the holiday weekend! You ****^2 for the $15 Wilton!

I swung by an estate sale on the way home from an early work departure. It was the last 20 minutes, and this company always had low prices. I got all of the items below for $20.

Craftsman Universal Jig for Bench Saws, part # 9-3231. This guy is painted in Power Bronze, so I'm estimating 1950s.

Outlaw, will that kit fit any S-K quarter ratchet or only the Facom made?

Chopper the one I know it fits (beside the original 45173 S-K Ratchet) is the std 40970 1/4 drive. I don't know about the Facom.

Someone else in another thread said all S/K's use the same guts (in the 1/4") , but I don't know if they were aware of Facom rats under SK.

Had several sales mapped out but heavy rains came and most canceled so only went to 2.

First was an estate sale where the gentleman had made orthopedic braces for children years ago so some interesting stuff. Spent $168.

Pic 1: Lots of nice Craftsman Crown, my favorite! 2 vintage small pliers in cases, stainless steel ruler, a set of 4 masonry drill bits, set of 4 in the box corner clamps, Sears Companion drill bits, 1960's Craftsman nut drivers and a RHFT 3/8 ratchet in nice working shape.

Pic 3: Proto punches in pouch, 3 vintage tape measures for my collection, small Starrett square, Craftsman square, various small rulers from Union, General and South Bend Lathe, V-blocks with clamps, General Hardware stainless ruler, Blue Point impact driver, Craftsman socket case, large Starrett calipers and nearly full gallon of Simple Green.

Pic 5: One of my favorite finds today, NOS Wilton Flip-Grip tilt vise in the box. Notice the red white and blue paint scheme and Briggs-Weaver 75th anniversary sticker. Briggs Industrial is an equipment supplier in the southeast that started as the Briggs-Weaver Machinery co in 1896 meaning this vise is from around 1971. Although this vise is NOS and the jaws are still sealed in there package it was stored in a damp area and has some rust on the bare steel areas I will have to address.

Pic 6: One of my other good finds, a Columbian 203 1/2 M2 combination vise in good shape. I checked it over carefully and see no issues, straight handles, no cracks or obvious hammer marks, both main and pipe jaw teeth are in nice shape.

I hit one other sale advertising tools, not a lot but picked up a Proto torque screwdriver and 6" adjustable wrench, 2 Lufkin tape measures and a working with brand new batteries E-Tec multi-meter for $10 total. I also bought 8 large pallets for the wood, they are 102" by 41" each and made form 2x6's. I have to go pick them up tomorrow with my trailer. Paid $20 for all 8.

Going to be a slow weekend with the holiday but I did manage a few bargains. Two hammers on Tuesday and the rest today after work. I already E-tanked the hammers because they are headed out already in a trade for a hand forged 4 pound beauty a vise customer of mine makes.
The one hammer is a cut of for blacksmithing the other is a GP RR Slug Devil.
The two angle finders are Stanley. One from the sweetheart era the other has a pat dat of 3-16-97. Also a Stanley tri-square with the old logo still painted on but the owner drilled hanger holes in it...
Also picked a pair of Indestro super line wrench's and what I think is a ice breaker/ bottle opener.. Could be a handy combo!
The two hammers weren't cheap, 10 each. The rest was 10 also so 30 bucks... The hand forged hammers sell for 125 so combined with the beater I picked last week for 8 I'm doing pretty good on the trade.

I have a Wilton Flip Grip in green. It is an OK vise, but not as heavy duty as I prefer.

Thanks, topop. I found several on eBay that showed the two brackets. I don't know if I left one on the shelf in the basement or not. Unfortunately, it was a one day only sale, so I can't go back tomorrow.

Been there , done that.. Left the hold down bracket to a scroll saw behind on accident once . went back the next day and knocked on the door . got lucky ... It was in the trash

The sledge heads are nice, I could not have left them behind at $10 each either.

I always grab those Nicholsen files when i see them, the plastic box is usually warped but no biggie as they are great files. Good scores today.

Great haul BB!! The Petersen Vise grips will get you back most if not all of your investment on Ebay.I sold 2 pairs last year of NOS vise grips for close to a hundy . and of course all the other values and bargains you got make me say ....you ****!!!

You guys are doing better than I am today.

Slim pickings at 3 stops and a TOO this morning. Got my number at 7a for a 9a sale, then went to a 7:30a yard sale one town over that advertised tools. The only tool I saw was an 80's plastic grinder block-like object that wouldn't work when plugged in. He ended up giving it away for free.
For $3 I picked up 2 partial spools of 10awg THHN wire. Black and White.

Then it was back to the estate sale to wait an hour and a half for them to open.
The "lots of tools" that were advertised turned out to be a smattering of cheap hobby tools spread out all over a large basement. Spent $5.

- Hunter #A14MS 4-1/2" LN pliers
- 3 - laboratory post clamps
- unknown tool (has Arabic or Chinese writing. The stamp is hard to read, almost looks like a casting flaw)
- paper tags
- box 'o small hardwood shims

Next it was a 45min drive to the other side of the county for an estate sale that promised a "garage full of tools and yard items". When I got there the garage was closed, the address on the mailbox was different, and there were no tools. Went back to the truck and re-read the listing. DOH ! The sale I wanted is next weekend, I was at the neighbors yard sale !

Headed home dejected.
On the way, I found a yard sale to try to console myself. Not much there, but still managed to spend another $5.

Not a bad day, but definitely a lot of traveling for little gain. I'm thinking that I probably should have gone with my original plan and gone out to the Londonderry Flea instead.

Nice pick-ups. I have a metric Truecraft Saltus wrench set. It is a 8 piece set in its original marked tool roll consisting 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 17 & 19 mm. So if you are on the look-out for the missing pieces you can compare to this list. Not to say they didn't make a 12 mm but it isn't part of the set I have.

Lots of great scores guys!

Pretty quiet here. out of 39 "possibles" I mapped 5, and had one TOO that was good.

First stop had some good stuff, but all I got was this box for $5. (I may drop back by later...)

Second stop was a TOO, Some smalls and my daughter fell in love with the trunk. we think it may be Camphor wood, and the covering is real leather, somewhat the worse for wear. painted flowers and brass tacks. (my daughter dubbed it the "gypsy trunk") $5

The smalls were an added $2 for a millers falls marker, Armstrong Clamp, Iron Coat hook, gravity latch, box latch/hasp, 1/8 drill bit.

The Craftsman RHFT and SO Combo were both for a buck at planned stop #2


The last stop was a revisit to yesterday's estate sale, and I got the two VIM wrench racks and the 1/4" Thorsen breaker, as well as an old cast Iron corner sink for $27 (the sink was for SWMBO's yard plan; we sent her a pic and she said "get it"!)

Thanks Flyer! Yeah, depending on the "market" some did have gaps. Like I said, the one missing I know I use is a the 12. have to do some searching to see if I can find one cheap. The only other one I have in metric is a SO 10MM

I went to two pretty crummy estate sales. An old lady asked me if I was in the Navy? I said "Why, do I look like a sailor, lol?" She said her husband was in the Navy. Told her I just collect tools. Yard Sailor maybe.

Made a stop at the flea. Found some tools.
Also wasted my gas on two yard sales, one driveway had about 60 feet of baby clothes!

So we got a late start today, and by 10am it was nearly 90 degrees outside. We decided to skip yard sales today due to the heat. Really need to fix the AC in the family grocery getter/dog hauler next week. I did pick this up off CL yesterday for $5. The tank is probably too rusty to save, but the pump still spins, and it's identical to the compressor I picked up a couple weeks ago with a locked up pump. Going to try to swap the pump over tonight, change the oil, and see if it makes any foul noises.
