PC, Chrome,

Mac: Safari.

I can see the link (text) in a quote, but you seem to be using a URL link and you need to use an IMG link for images. (Use the postcard Luke...)

Thanks, found the image button. I hope they will show now. Switched them over and they are slimmed down a bit too, so that may help. I don't understand how they show up for some with the URL link and I can see them either way when not logged in. :dunno: No formal computer training here. Pretty much self taught/ trial and error so always learning.

Nice sale this morning. Garage was packed full and not a lot of room to move around so they were only letting in like 6 guys at a time. Managed to pick this lot up; Snap-on Torque-O-Meter, double flaring tool set, some regular and two ratcheting screwdrivers and a metric shorty wrench set. Some Mac line wrenches, Craftsman 1/2dr RHFT, Cornwell SAE combination wrench set and a stack of Blue Point snap ring pliers.

Spotted this SK 3/8" drive 9-19mm set at the pawn shop. There was no price tag on it but when they came back at $10 I couldn't pass them up. Not sure if these are pre-Ideal or post-Ideal, but they have off-corner engagement, quality is consistently excellent on all of them, and they could pass as unused.

Nothing old, rare, or particularly exciting this time, but good sockets I will get good use out of at a good price is enough to make my day.

I agree with PSFard. I do the honorable thing; don't be like the the "usual CL ***" that won't honor a commitment "because Someone else didn't do it for me! Gotta fight back the flakes!" A man is only as good as their word.

I have had many flakes not show up, and I have had someone not wait for me for the thirty lousy minutes it took to get there (after me saying I was on my way) and was in the act of selling it when I pulled up to his garage. these types are simply trailer trash and what goes around, comes around... Karma can be a *****.

Cody, if someone flakes, no one would expect you to continue to hold the item, so your example makes no sense. If someone says they are on the way, "be there in an hour" and you say "fine" you made a commitment for that time. Do the honorable and meet that commitment.

Agreed. I don't care what others may do, I will keep my word. And sleep better at night.

Back again this morning with another deal.
Picked up these "us general" boxes for $250 for the pair. These are actually lista boxes... Not sure why someone would degrade them with a harbor freight badge. All drawers work great and even had the key.

Went to a rare Thursday sale this morning. It was well outside my area, so I had to make special arrangements to get out of the house. I still ended up getting there 1-1/2hrs after opening. The tool guys had already come and gone, but they left some goodies behind. The SnapOn top box was still there for $100, but I had to pass due to funds and no room (it sold over the phone to a guy who was there earlier). I also had to leave behind a Craftsman 5" vise (1960's with the swoosh) for $75. Too high and I already have one in better condition. The tools that were left in the box were mostly Craftsman, but there were still a few goodies to be had (old Porter Cable Porta-Plane). Here's the take for today :

$15
- MAC 3/8dr deep socket tray (???)
- used can of Rustolium Hammered Gold paint
- lg. unlabeled drive punch
- 1/8" electrical snake
- Stanley/Yankee #251A ratcheting tap handle w/ Ace 12-24 tap
- Homemade hook (???) (possibly a reworked SnapOn ??)
- Williams #1162 1/2" combo wrench
- SnapOn OXA100 5/16" 6pt bent combo wrench
- SnapOn SPP46 screwdriver
- SnapOn TM62A 1/4dr flex driver

Not bad for a picked over sale. :D

A few gems from an estate sale this morning for $7.50 :

Snap-On 1/2" - 9/16" Offset Box Wrench XV-1618
Diamalloy Handiman Pliers and Wrench
Blue Point Pliers Interior panel clip removal tool YA331
Snap-On 3/8" drive 9/16" 12 point socket F-180
Snap-On 9/32" drive socket set

Of course, I wasn't smart enough at the time to realize the socket set was in fact 9/32" drive. I thinked it was 1/4" drive.

I finally got to go pick up my new to me lathe today. First pic is on site where I picked it up from a boatyard. The guy there is my buddy who was helping.

f0c44dfe0ee3ca3957ae6496d4310840.jpg

Then we partially dismantled it for transport. Back at my place we basically put it back together but it will need to come apart for a good cleaning. I was able to run it and for the most part it is in great condition.

I don't know the motor but maybe someone can identify it?

c99f4f2280617769602aa772dbebb3ea.jpg

The tooling is not to extensive but it will get me started. And I already have some.

c7acf045ece062acb8266a9c270661d8.jpg

The stand is solid enough, made from 2" x 1/4 angle. It's bolted together and seeing as it has worked for over 40 years I think I will leave it.

Now sadly I will have to leave it all for a few weeks till I get back from a trip up north.

Craptain, that lathe is awesome and looks like you have the essential tooling for most work there. Good find, wish I could help with the motor but no clue.

A co-worker passed by a sale today a few blocks from work, called back to say he thought he saw some tools so at lunch I ran up and grabbed a pair of mechanics gloves and this xcelite tool kit all for $20. Had never seen one, missing a couple piece but may find those in some of my excess loose stuff.

alinc100. I have that same set. Used it a lot when I was in the vending business. All except the Bristol spline tools which I never found a use for. At one time they were almost the standard for service techs in electronic fields.

I wonder if someone did that to "lower the theft profile" or as a joke... :dunno:

Nice score!

I guess it was 1/2-inch drive ratchet day at the Early Bird...

6-17-201620haul_zpsxcnwfdob.jpg

Top to bottom: wartime Bonney 4088, Proto 5449BL PROFESSIONAL (not wartime, but too good to pass up), and a wartime J.H. Williams S-51 Superatchet.

The sockets sitting on their drive ends are all Craftsman Circle-H 1/2-inch drive 12-point, mix wartime (geometric C underline CRAFTSMAN) and post-war (= CRAFTSMAN =).

The sockets sitting on their sidewalls, all 1/2-inch drive 12-point, all legit wartime, are orphans (left to right in pic):
- DURO-CHROME 1618, 9/16, with a "G" code
- New Britain NT1214, 7/16
- Williams ST-1226, 13/16
- SK 40136, 1-1/8
- SK 40128, 7/8
- Hinsdale ((H)) SR-3, 31/32

I grabbed the SK midget socket box to salvage the badge.

Went to an estate sale this AM, billed as lots of tools and guy stuff. Lots of sharks there, had to be 5 or 6 guys looking for vises, myself included. Found the bearing race kit, OTC, might be a Ford Service tool, guy who passed was part owner of a Ford dealer. Then found the tray of pullers, so dark in the basement didn't realize they were Snap On till after I paid. Tank of R12, 1/2-3/4 full, and a new Plano box. Then I found the little 1-3/4" vise, bummed that it had the plate welded on, looks like it was a clamp on at one time, looks like a jagged edge at the back where it broke off. Was excited to see it is a swivel jaw though, just need to free it up. Kind of funny, the guy told me $5 for the Plano, thought it was too high, so set it back. Then when I found the vise, how much, " Eh, it's been welded, .50 or $1.00". So I thought what the heck, that's cheap enough, I'll throw him the $5. for the Plano. Take the vise and Plano over to him to add to my slip he says "ah you know what, I'll just charge you $1 for the vise AND the Plano". Ok. So I guess you want to know the total, $51.00 for all.

I picked up this little toolbox, 12 1/2" by 4 3/4" by 4 3/4", yesterday - built of heavy-gauge metal - about the thickness of a quarter - and about WWII vintage.

Inside, I found the usual selection of small screwdrivers and hex wrenches,

a small screwdriver enclosed in a plastic housing, a small Corbin lock with key, drill bit for a push drill, a manual can opener,

a cold chisel and punch, 3/8" double-end wrench, and a worn-out set of points for a distributor (which might be valuable someday :) ).

Couldn't pass this up for $2.00.

Nice haul Ragtop, love those kind of sales.

A TOO and two estate sales this morning - Nothing.
Then waited for another sale that started at 3pm. Drove through 2 large towns during the start of Friday rush hour. I got there 15min late and they were just starting to set up. When I asked about the tools in the ad, the guy gave me a blank look and told me that they weren't selling any tools. The wife just shrugged. Thanks for wasting my time.

I hope this isn't a sign of how the rest of the weekend is going to go.

Hit 4 sales today, one was a bust others had a tool or two to be had so I ended up with this lot.SK Wayne 3/4" drive ratchet and breaker bar,Proto 1/2" dr long handle ratchet,Thomas & Betts crimpers,Petersen Vise grips ,a Craftsman combo square,I believe made by Brown and Sharpe,a machinist clamp,a Starrett saw Guide booklet and a Blackhawk 151 Drain plug wrench. It was unique, moves freely and I'm hoping collectible/valuable.
