Stopped by an estate sale after work. Second one there and...not much. Looked like most of the good stuff was gone before it started. Saw the usual sharks and they weren't finding much either. But I hate leaving an estate sale empty handed so grabbed a newer Diamond Adjustable to add the the collection. $3 and looks like it was barely used.

Craigslist score an hour ago, A Ridgid 12r thread set 1/2 to 2" dies. He only threaded two 2" threads with it. Picked it up for $160.00

Strangest thing happened this morning; went to an estate sale of a an older all-around handyman. TONS of tools in the basement workshop. I arrived shortly after opening, around 815am, and I was expecting to find a bunch of sharks rummaging through everything, but to my surprise, I pretty much had the place all to myself for a couple of hours. Felt like I was in the twilight zone or something. All the tools were mostly 40's - 50's era craftsman, williams, proto, hinsdale, etc..... Walked away with a few cool things, Ill post up some pics tomorrow.

I made it back into town from a biz trip earlier than expected, so I hit an estate sale in Lowell on the way home (Jake and Bobcat will have to share the decon protocols with me, although this place wasn't bad :) ).

Second day of a 3-day sale, so the garage was fairly cleaned out. Still some big ticket items were still there, like a pair of beautiful Alemite oil/grease service tanks from an auto garage and a Champion spark plug tester. I passed on them but found some goodies in the debris. Everything below was $25.

Two excellent examples of 1950s tool advertising along with the tools:

After checking out of the garage, I strolled through four stories of household goods, but found some more tools in a box in the 2nd floor bathroom (?!). The tool guy was out in the garage, so the ladies in the house took $3 for the following:

Klein 209-50 spring loaded dikes
Diamalloy spring loaded dikes
Wisdom 175E3 shorty scissors
Compton-U-Set stainless steel thread Clipper
2x Bell System (Stanley) KS6854 screwdrivers, two different handles
Bell System (Bridgeport) wood handled screwdriver, has a tiny "59" below the name--a date stamp?

Just a couple of things found at yard sales on Friday.

Pics 1-3--Litco #198 Woodworking Carpenters Under-Bench 10" Vise. This type uses side of workbench as back jaw.

Pics 4-7--Was going through a tool box and found a USA marked knife that had a Lincoln car on the front. Anybody know if these were given by dealership to buyers of Lincoln cars?

Mike

3/4dr stuff from that one in Livonia correct? I managed to scratch out a dozen or so rusty Snap-on & Mac sockets from the one toolbox top tray. Those guys were a bit pricey...

Went to a crazy estate sale in Oakland today, down by the coloseum:
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/gms/5636291442.html

It started yesterday, and anything obvious must have been picked, but I found a good handful for $7:

Snap On, Bonney, Plomb and Proto sockets, SK and Snap on swivles, Proto puller parts, SK and Craftsman flex handles, SnapOn crows foot, and the three sockets in back are SnapOn from the 20-30's in 5/8 and 7/8 drive.
There was a ton of cool stuff, a camelback drill, 6' sheet metal break, old cars and boats, half dozen storage lockers and outbuildings to look though, I found 3 dead Snap On torqmeters, lots of good stuff that I have no interest in, but was cool to see. I will go back on Sunday, it should be super cheap then.

One stop after work yielded a few nice things for 24 bucks. I might have over paid a bit on a pair of "C" clamps but I thinks these are pretty hard to find. I know Wilton made vise's named Rapid Titan , the same as these clamps so I wonder if Wilton bought them at some point for the quick release :dunno: Any way here's the full list of the days treasures!

2 Rapid titan quick release "C" clamps
8" Hoe pipe wrench- working on collecting the set
John S. Fray Brace- about a century old!
Old H S B & co. lineman pliers
MAC tools belt buckle
4 in 1 nesting Brass screw driver

Thursday's finds for 13 bucks

Oregon wood grenade -aluminum!
Gripso vise pliers
1-5/16 hand vise
and not pictured is a 6" pair or Diamond Caulk Horseshoe adjustable wrench

Looking good guys!

PFSard, I think you deserve some suckage for the Snap On set with the Handiboy!

Chopper, nice OTC find. I forgot about those Proto made ratchets until just recently when I noticed a 3/4 like yours on Ebay.

Went to two picked over estate sales just before close.

Working backwards here, at sale #2 paid 5 bucks for the Craftsman 15 incher.

At sale #1 the kid said make a pile so I did just that. Made a pile with this rusty stuff and another non tool item for 12 bucks. A few highlights were the little Williams wrenches, unknown little made in USA pliers, strange hammer head, Ford script pliers, Williams and Stanley chisels,

3 pipe wrenches are Perfect Handle, Pexto, and Bonney.

That's the one. I would have liked some of the sockets but too pricey for me and they were mostly the same size 1 7/8" not really able to make a set. Not worth the drive back on 1/2 off day either.

Well I had no intention of hitting any sales today. Too busy. Had to return a mini X I had rented and a luck would have it there was a sale along the way. I wouldn't have stopped but these racks caught my eye. I've been wanting something just like this for spray cans and such. Funny how the radar never shuts off. :headscrat... I guess after 20+ years it's more of a habit than I realize. $28 bucks today. I only wanted one shelf at 8 bucks but she said 20 for all 3 ! And on wheels!!! here's the rest...

Tarzen brass lock with keys
25' Lufkin leather wrapped tape.
Bell systems Bridgeport driver
Aluminum folding "T" handle screw driver
dbl face body? hammer I wonder if any one knows if there is a replacement available for the soft face? I didn't see and maker. :dunno:

So there's this international harvester 3/4 drive set, the ratchet has been replaces with a wright, he's asking 160 but negotiable, what do you think a good asking price would be?5923797d819a7f22762f9d7bc1704488.jpg8834dd6dd9740a0290a66f001d0f6979.jpg

Jeepster - If I was interested, I'd be in the $100-$125 range on that socket set. But I think you'd be OK with anything at or on the asking price.

I had originally planned on 7 sales this morning, but only made it to 5 because they were so spread out. The first one looked promising, but was a bust. The only thing there that I wanted was a saw fence that would have worked on my 40's Cman bandsaw, but they wouldn't separate it from the tilt-table saw and I wasn't going to pay $60 for a 7" tablesaw in a style that no-one wants to use anymore.

The third stop was a good one, it seems that only 3 of us saw the CL ad. Lots of good big ticket items like a snowblower, tiller, compressor, and several generators. Passed on a newer 4.5" Parker and a 5" Walworth. Both vises were well used/abused. Unfortunately, most of the handtools were imports or later Craftsman. I was still able to cherry pick a few gems out of the dross.

Stop 3 - $5
- Craftsman DBE 1-1/16" - 1-1/14" (=V=)
- Stearns 4" c-clamp (a rusted lump)
- Bonney LT-28 3/8dr 7/8" deep socket
- Craftsman #4457 1/2dr stud remover (-V-)
- None Better (New Britain) B12X 3/8dr ratchet adapter
- MAC #XRS 3/8dr thumbwheel disk
- Craftsman DOE #44571 1/4"-5/16" (-V-)
- Craftsman ignition wrench 5-16"-11/32" (-V-)
- New Britain FG-3 feeler gauge
- Craftsman #4306 8pc angled DOE ignition set (blue case) (-V- crowntop)

Stop #4 was bleak and stop #5 was a bust.

Stop 4 - $5
- MAC CL-14 7/16" combo wrench
- 11' long 10/3 extension cord (mismatched plugs, I think it was wired for 220v, I'll have to inspect it)

The junk gods seemed to be smiling on me today. Hit a couple of estate sales and a few garage/yard sales as well. Pretty random stuff overall. But everything was all of $7
Wrenches:
The rusty ones are mostly Williams, Cleaner ones are a various assortment from Blue Point, Wizard, Vlchek, Craftsman, etc. Plus a couple of pliers
33vgklx.jpg

Screwdrivers:
2 Proto, 2 Channellock screwholder, Craftsman pin puller, 4 nail setters, A couple of little screwdrivers (the one with the metal loop I find interesting thought it might be a bottle opener as well but doesn't appear to be), Brink & Cotton clamp
6896dc.jpg

2 NOS Equipto No. 1 Little Gem parts bins. Both are the 2 drawer model. The paperwork has a copyright of 1974 so guessing they are from sometime between then an the early 80's?

Glad you guys are making some god scores! It wasn't me today...

A "I'm moving out of town" sale got these for SWMBO and the Big "S" (22-1/2" tall) for my youngest daughter (two out of three initials, so she collects them):

And three wrenches from one of my regulars.

Indestro DBE, Fairmount 1/2 X 3/4" DBE and the DOE is a Bluepoint with a "4" date code that has the 40's "rocker serif on the bottom but the SO date code s show "E" or "G" for the war years... (Emergency & Government)
