The date code images you are using aren't quite accurate. 1954 does have a rocker on the bottom as well as a rounded diagonal line in the upper part as per your image.

Hit a few sales today, actually did pretty well everywhere I went. Here's a few highlights. Found 3 sets of NOS Ford accessory wire wheel wheelcovers, the ones with the knockoffs are 13", have 2 sets of the Rotunda 15". Any idea what they're worth? At another stop, found the pair of giant Hella driving lights, they're more than 8-1/2" in diameter. Found a couple cans of GM PS fluid in metal cans, must be old, never saw that before. Found a bunch of vises, a lower end Wilton, a York 100, a basic Craftsman, a strange Heuer, and a hand vise. Bunch of other misc. small items, shop supplies and tools.

I was feeling good until I saw the diamond for $10. I paid $20 for a 15" a few weeks ago and was happy.

Woke up early this morning made it to the annual BSA sale. Very few tools, and I was one of the first in the tool room. Picked up this lot

Stopped home and unloaded the civic, made it to the auction right around the time the furniture was wrapping up. Ended with several box lots of hardware, light bulbs, and electrical items for under $30.
ab38d04a291421b02baa6c2c57f252e6.jpg

Then I picked up an 8' garage door complete with track and hangers for $22
cd0830afcc52c0c0584393b1ea3d0c42.jpg

Now I just need to figure out how and were to install it, maybe replace the panels? One possible location is not visable from the road, so maybe I will repair the panels it came with.

Dave, I'll award you a YOU **** for the entire haul. You could flip almost any three of those tools and cover your whole bankroll. Well done!

New recent pickups. I'm typically a bottom feeder so everything except the GTD sign were 2nd or 3rd day crumbs from Estate Sales and yard sales.

Master Mechanic socket set missing a few pieces. Everything is USA except the ratchets are Taiwanese. $20

IMG_0824_zpscprkfqbf.jpg

Matco socket caddy, Cornwell 1/4 ratchet that needs work, MAC extension, None Better and Snap-On specialty tools $10

IMG_0822_zpsbjwjqeyv.jpg

Huot drill index with mostly unused PTD USA bits $8

IMG_0823_zpstm9svikv.jpg

Greenfield Tap & Die sign $12

Pretty much struck out with yard sales today, but did stumble across a sale late in the day where I picked up a pair of Husky c clamps and a small pair of Channellock pliers for $5. Did fairly well at the thrifts today though, in one store I picked up a brand new pair of engineer's boots, brand new license plate frame, 2 compressor water traps (store manager called them "little tanks"), a heel dolly (store manager: "that thing"), and they threw in the milk crate to carry it all out with. Total cost: $29.60. Another thrift store sold me 3 Hawaiian shirts for $15 :pimpflash (sorry, no pics of those.) Also picked up yet another compressor on CL on Thursday night. 20g Sears "4hp" model. This one actually works and came with a filter/regulator and 2 air hoses, $25. The motor is 15 amps, so realistically maybe 3hp.Seller also gave me a Campbell Hausfeld impact in new condition for $7.

Pretty baren day for me, but I did pick up this yellow toolbox, I think it is from a tractor kit, not sure.

It was filled with this

Pretty complete, missmatched 3/4 inch set,Plomb and Chrome Vandadian USA with a couple extensions, a T-bar and a Plomb ell wrench. Some misc. wrenches were in there too, along with a couble smaller Plomb sockets. The Plomb sockets are all prewar, but different years. I can't place the Crome V. sockets, but they look familiar. $40 for it.

Is that a Buckingham or Klein belt? I have never seen a straight canvas one.

Neither, and not a Boyt, either. And I have only seen a photo of a heavy canvas webbing version, unattributed, until today!

Here are the markings:

I have been collecting Signal Corps stuff for many years and I have never seen or heard of this make before. I love the name and location. Which prompted a quick search, and an interesting history.
>>> Per Wiki: “Vira Boarman Whitehouse (September 16, 1875 - April 11, 1957) was the owner of the Whitehouse Leather Company, a suffragette and early proponent of birth control. In 1921, she bought the Buchan-Murphy Manufacturing Company, a leather business, renamed it the Whitehouse Leather Products Company, Inc., and reorganized it with herself as president. She managed the company for eight years, reducing the work week from 48 hours to 44 hours, among other changes. She sold her leather company before the stock market crash of 1929.”

Looks to have been made in the summer of 1945, so quite late war.

The early war version was L-23-A. And the figure in a May 1944 French Army manual (they used all our Signal corps equipment), specified as an L-23-B, still looks to be leather. So I am surmising the L-23-C was introduced quite late. There are two extra tool loops, too. As you probably know, they’re all pretty scarce in general, and when they do show up, they’re usually Boyt (which also made a crapload of leather M1 Garand scabbards), Buckingham, or Klein, so I was thrilled. Rare is good. An apparent FOAK is even better!

I went to Wisconsin for a family emergency and found a few things.

Went "picking" with my sister.
Stopped at my aunt's pre-sale for family members only. Vintage milk can cart she used to use at the cheese factory (36" tall wheels!) 2 1920 Wisconsin license plates, 1976 Michigan Bicentennial plate, Pfaff sewing machine stuff, ice tongs, hay hooks, Kendall outboard motor oil can, Polly Wads polishing cloths, sasquatch toenail clippers, oil can, Lufkin folding riler, Excel tape can. spent about $36,

Another yard sale same day, Craftsman =V= sockets, Craftsman gasket punches, Walden nut driver blades with handle, various bits of good stuff $14

Free from my dad from our old farm, Plomb 1/2" pebble ratchet, house jack, bottle capper.

Free from my sister from the other old farm, milk can, wooden handled auger bit, True Temper Flint Edge hatchet, another hatchet head, double bit axe, shoe horn with 4 sizes of shoe forms, grinder dresser, Millers Fall plane and other odd's and ends.

Stuff I found here in Louisiana
Several wrenches, Craftsman and Proto $5 for all at a garage sale.

Only 3 blocks away garage sale, another house jack and several cord wrap holders $3

Estate sale, $17.75. Craftsman DBE metric =V= wrenches, Crown badge glass cutters, Sears dowel centers, wood bits in case, 2 each 4 sheave pulleys, tarp repair grommets and a small case of fuses.

Bonnie and Clyde flea market, Snap On Blue Point screw extractor case, most tools missing inside, and 2 long heavy duty hooks $8
2 swing out stools, no swivel brackets but they are identical to the 6 I just bought and the seats will make a good pattern for them. $50 for the pair.

Stopped at an antique store in Arcadia, found two Atlas 10-500 lathe milling attachment vise's.

Thank you Wrenchguy! And that is super cool Private lugnuts, I don't collect military, but I do collect telephony (I am a tech for the phone company) so really didn't know about the signal corps variations. Learn something new evey day!

Wow, BB not one, but two of those milling attachments! Those are highly sought after by the Atlas/Craftsman lath guys!

The phone saved me twice on these. I knew they were for a lathe but no name on them so I Googled the 10-501 number on them and found out what they were and a price to shoot for so I could make a few bucks off of them.

Then the lady running the place couldn't give me a price because they were her son's and he was out of cell phone range. I tried anyways and after a bit got a hold of him. One of them is missing the hand wheel and jaws so got both for $30 :willy_nil

I'm wondering the same thing. Love old correct style hot rods. Did you think you would just slip that picture in there without explanation? Very cool, got any details?

I slipped out this afternoon to visit my local Picker's place. One without a TV Show, without hype and also without high prices. Young guy making a living out of a small place finding and selling some nice antiques. And usually with good prices that can be easily negotiated.

First up is this nice heavy duty grinder stand. Tagged at $25 but knocked down to $20.
attachment.php

This is the overall rest of the lot of items found. Walton Company box from a pipe and stud extractor set. Contents long gone but I'm a sucker for a cool metal box. Only $5. A CM 1/4" drill kit with hip roof box. For $10 and to my surprise complete with drill that works, bits and assorted sander and wire brush attachments. I really liked the box and don't normally buy a ton of old power tools but to find a working complete set for that price it was a no brainer.
Next was an old toy cowboy pistol that needs work but it will go in my collection. and some license plates and two oil cans that normally sell for $3 each were thrown in for free because I paid tag price for some of the other items.

That is one hell of a drill dad had one i think my brother got it. When dad passed we took all his stuff laid it out and 3 of us chose what we wanted 1 item each time we went around. To make it honest if you picked first on the first round you picked last on the next round.

Rmalkow2, if that is what I think it is, that grinder stand is Craftsman. The top plate is for a block grinder and the base is actually a top plate for a 8 or 9"(?) Craftsman table saw. I'll post pics of the table saw top plate I have and let you see.

That looks like the same top and post used on the Craftsman stands, but I don't recognize the base.

EDIT: Nine got in before me. He's right about the base.
Mount a block grinder on one side and a tablesaw on the other and you'll have a multi use stand ! :lol_hitti

You **** on the sign. We need a "show us your tap and die sign" thread.

Davefr,

Thanks, the sign isn't in the best of shape but not bad either for the age. I have another one from Bendix/Besly but it is a pretty run of the mill one. I am always on the look out for tool advertising stuff like signs, boards, etc.

I will see about starting a thread for Tap&Die signs
