Boxing up the garage for the move, but I couldn't pass this up. My Craigslist Consultant says Greenerd, but its not marked. Nothing anywhere. Tossed the 2 matching pogo sticks in the pic. $10 for the pair. $30 for the press.

Hmmmm. I'm not sure it's a Greenerd.
- They tend to have a taller base.
- I don't see a lock on the handle in the dark picture. I might be missing it. (a bolt, set screw, or thumbscrew)
- The size looks like a 1-1/2 or 2 ton.
- The plate is for a larger press. It should be a 4" or 5" diameter. (guess)

Whatever it is, it looks US made. Perhaps an early press.
Either way, I like it. It will look great once it's spiffed up.
The price is, well ......... You ****.

Was able to make one sale today after work. A lot of tools, storage cases, bins etc ,any of the high quality tools were WAY overpriced but I found a few gems including a Veto Pro Pac that is brand new, small pair of Petersen vise grips,a couple pouches for my tool belt,a nearly new pair of Wiss snips(which are perfect for the metal stud/drywall job I'm on) and a couple pairs of wire strippers. I never seem to have enough pairs of strippers thanks to co-workers who seemingly borrow them. $2 a pair puts em in an "I'll get more range"
I had the fortune of looking up the Veto bag before I paid the asking price of $20.

Hit one sale this morning, and it was a dud. Not much on the horizon for the weekend, which is just fine by me since I'm leaving for my Mom's wedding.

This one sale looks interesting; but like someone said earlier it looks way too organised to have any good deals. But even though it's 1.5 hours away from here I'd probably take a drive down tomorrow just to check it out.

Picked the S-K Wayne 1/4 and Belknap 1/2 for 1.00 apiece today. I thought the Belknap was homemade, but I found it online. There was pear head models selling for 75 bucks. I've got to find a handle for it.

Jeff, the Channelocks and nippers should clean up real well, SG works wonders on the black gunge on plastic handles.

Nice score!

Isopropyl alcohol on a rag will clean rubber/plastic tools right up too. I'm always amazed what it can do.

PFS, The one that jumps out at me is the wood handled Plvmb Driver. Those are hard to find in any size. I have one that is probably the same size only 16-1/2" so I'm guessing differences in productions on a given day, /year, or some one pounded on it and drove the shaft in deeper... Nice Find(s)!

Mike, NICE find on the Oak box! Any markings on the hasps?

Alinc, Nice finds! Since they seem to "find legs" mark those strippers "Stolen from Alinc" and I'l bet they start coming back... :see:

Well, even though I've been good about not going to sales lately it hasn't been easy.
Tonight I was able to get a fix without falling off the wagon. While making a pizza run, I spotted some guys loading a moving van and making a pile out on the curb.

A quick check to make sure the pile was trash, and I was taking home a heavy steel rolling potting bench (gardening, not smoking ). The guys even loaded it into my truck for me. :D

It's missing a few fasteners and the drawer, but that's OK. I have replacement nuts and bolts (bought a box at a sale last year) and the drawer would have been tossed anyway.

I'm going to clean up the chicken droppings (and sanitize it) so it can be used out on the deck as a food station when we're grilling on the Q. It will save me from moving a heavy maple farmers table in and out of the dining room when the family gets the whim to grill.

Sorry for the dark picture, but I couldn't wait for daylight to post a find for the first time in two weeks. Trust me, it looks better in the dark anyway. :lol_hitti

I'm not sure why I buy more tools, but the treasure hunt of yard sales beckons.....

Went today and at one sale the widow was selling her husbands shop off. I got there after lots of guys were walking away, so who knows what was there to start. She was asking $.25 apiece for small tools, with the few larger items priced out as marked. I bought the following for $7: Several adjustable wrenches, a nice gear puller, a couple of universal/harmonic balancer pullers, one new britain, one unmarked, 3 proto crowsfeet, a bonney wrench, a nice old Craftsman prybar, two Proto chisels, Proto pliers, a tube flaring kit, a nut splitter, a couple screwdrivers and nut drivers, a tubing cutter, a trimo monkey wrench, a Snap-on ratcheting screwdriver (missing cap) about 50 US sockets, and about 150 junk sockets. Plus a few other junk tools.

She had kept her cats in his shop since he died in February, and they had pissed all over the stuff. It smelled so bad I hated touching it to put it in a bag to buy it. brought it home, spread it out on the sidewalk and took the hose to it. That made it clean enough it could be brought in and washed with soap in the laundry sink. Now my sidewalk smells when I walk over that area. I put the US sockets in vinegar to clean off spot rust and to take away the smell also. They'll just be an irritation to get rid of, but there was a lot of Craftsman and Proto in the lot, along with P&C, Bonney, SK and similar.

The things an addict will do for tools! Why in the world should I be buying cat piss tool collections?

Outlawmws:

Thks Outlaw.

Just the locking front hasp has any markings, which is Yale Made in USA and 15 x 2.

I thought with the recessed pull rings and center slide out drawer, it might be easier to find the Mfg, but no luck yet.

Will attach a few more pics, to help in the search.

Maybe it is not a "manufactured" box but rather built by a craftsman.

Mike, Unusual back hinges! And with the leather handle, I'm thinking possibly pre WWII? Will a Machinery's handbook fit in the mid deep drawer?

Can you shoot some drawer front attachment details? If Beatcad pops in he'd be a good one to better ID the maker.

ps: I'm off to the YS races! good list, lets see what they really have...

Picked up this Ford ratcheting tool kit for $3 at the Flea market this morning. It says USA on it, but don't really know any details about it. :dunno: Tried a google, search but couldn't find anything like it. It at least kept the morning from being a complete bust.

Those Shelton drivers were re-labeled for tons of different companies as promo type items. I have my grandfather's still but I think it is just a Shelton Socketool or Versatool.

A decent day, more than half the stops got me something plus one TOO.

First stop was one of my regulars, and all I found was a deep Williams 3/8 socket in 1/4" drive. When I asked how much, he just waved me off, so free.

Second stop is in pics 2 & 3.

The other stuff in this pic is from multiple Stops:

Bell and Small Duckbills from an Estate sale $2

Odd Slitting saw (Marked Henry Disston and sons) $1 from the TOO

.223 loading dies, Crescent Pliers, Williams Needlenose and Dunlap dykes, $2

attachment.php

The Second Stop:

The red roll has Norseman soldering tools and picks, plus I found 4 other loose picks, A Simpson 260 manual, 2 rolls of copper wire, imported (Gorbet-Swiss) Swiss File set missing one, Krauter Duckbills, 4 DOE's (Challenger, Dunlap, Long C Craftsman and one identical to the Dunlap, but no makers mark), and one Bonney DBE

attachment.php

Same stop; Clamps! 2 Jorgansen, 1 Cincinnati, and the top one is Phoenix. NOS Craftsman Pipe Clamps (they were falling out of the box, so left the box.) - $10 all - Both pics.

attachment.php

Cents 50 for the Helicoil (missing one coil, 10-24, and the installer is steel not plastic)

And the last stop was 3 more clamps; 1" Cincinnati Knu-vise, and a no name, a 1/2" drive Plvmb 16" breaker, and 2 sockets, modular Craftsman tool holders; 5 NOS and the three out don't look to have ever been mounted. Al for $2.50 (They wanted 3 but didn't want to have to break a $20, so 2 ones and 2 quarters was all I had left for change..)

attachment.php

So the day cost me $17.50 all told...

Thanks for the info!
Found a lot of different versions of the kit on Google. There's even a few different or incomplete kits on eBay right now.

I'm surprised none of the pieces say Shelton on them.

I have one of the Versatools, I'll have to watch for a Socketool. that could be handy... Is it a std 1/4" hex drive?

My day was almost a bust as well due to the early rains that scared off half the flea vendors.

I did find a Williams 1/2" power socket extension and an old Williams BSF (British Standard Fine) Socket for $2.

Then I looked at two Wiltons a guy, he wanted $30 but for some reason I hesitated :headshake . I noticed one vise was missing the dog in front. I had some running around to do and I went back there just as he was packing and they were gone.

BUT.....turns out he had 4 total :willy_nil. They came from an old trade school or something. These two were in the back of his truck. It worked out good because these are complete. I got them both for $20 too!

This weekend wasn't half bad. (unlike last weekend) This whole pile was $11. The socket set is a Bonney gold plated set for some Chrysler conference. The tiny pipe wrench is marked Germany. The box is full of NOS carbon motor brushes. I love this weird stuff.

P1060824.jpg

P1060825.jpg

P1060826.jpg

P1060827.jpg

Next stop was an estate sale. The Intermatic digital time switch was $8. (might come in handy for a future project). The resistor caddy was $3 and the Heathkit Cantenna was $1. I have no idea what this cantenna is for but it's weird.

P1060828.jpg

Paint thinner, Freon R12 and a giant chisel head. $5 for the whole pile.

P1060833.jpg

I need a grinder like a hole in my head but this old girl is 100% complete and 99% mint. $15.

P1060832.jpg

Misc:
P1060830.jpg

Last but not least was a pair of JBL L100's for $10. Some light scratches and scuff marks but perfect grills. (I was shocked at what they sell for at auction.)

Dave, that whole pile is a USUCK after USUCK...

The Heathksit Cantenna is likely as Dummy load? does it have a wattage and Ohms, Impedance somewhere?

Those Speakers... (are the surrounds on the woofers still good? if not you can get replacement surrounds, and its a fairly easy job...)

The little "pipe" wrench is probably a bicycle wrench.

Pic 7--Bought a broken Craftsman 5210 for parts and hardy.

Mike

All is not lost on the vise. This is what I did to one that broke. And the one of yours is on a swivel base that will make it even handier. The hardi is a bonus!I filled the voids with lead for extra weight and strength

Thanks Outlaw.

Yes that Heathkit cantenna does have all those specs printed on it so dummy load makes sense.

Atlas blasting caps , still about a dozen or so in the box with fuse and crimper
old craftsman pipe wrench- odd style and a snappy combo wrench
pair of old rules and tapes
fly fishing tackle box
eagle oil can.
