This all showed up at my door on Sunday. Pana-Vise with a box, Queen City cast pedestal with integrated switch, custom grinder stand. Pd $120 for everything... have to rewire the Queen City switch, its setup for 480v 3 phase though.

Boy, you would think those pulls would ID that box, unless someone added them later in it's life.
Regardless, very nice box, Sir ! Enjoy!

Brian

RedVise:

Blue Frog steered me to an expert, who then consulted with some other experts.

Consensus is the oak machinist chest is Foreign made, probably by Hollowell Cabinets in Toronto, Canada.

I forgot about this electrician's briefcase style tool kit I got last week at the clean out estate sale. It was mostly empty but after getting it home and cleaning it out I found 2 Proto long screw starters, 4 Proto chisels/punches, various picks and files, Craftsman inside calipers and Crown badge stainless steel ruler and various bits of electrical supplies.

Yesterday I hit up the local flea market. One of the first things I find is a Craftsman Block grinder water tray for 75 cents. :willy_nil

I then picked up the NOS in box Avon 1973 Ford F100 for $3 and a pair of new Coleman hiking boots for $15. Since one of the things I was doing that day was finding new work boots I figured I save around $50 by getting these. More money for tools LOL.

Finally I hit one last booth for the Millers Falls breast drill missing parts, power steering pump pulley puller/installer, Ford script adjustable wrench, 3M scotch brite wheel pack ($80 on Amazon) Number drill bit case with only a few bits, mini no-name outside calipers, a Dunlap tool (any help?) I can't figure out, Akron Brass Mfg fire fighters wrench and a puller that has only Pat Pend on it (Model A hub puller ?)

I added another pic of the Dunlap tool and puller for those of you who might be able to identify them.

The puller looks like it's for a Model T. The spoon looking tool is a bodyman's ******* for working out dents from behind or in a tight area where a hammer can't be used.

Picked up a Craftsman 150 and a Powr-Kraft branded Darra James 95 on Saturday for $100 on a garage sale leftover deal. Stopped by an estate sale yesterday for 50% fun and stumbled across a Baldor 115/230v 1.5hp motor for $4.... phone erased pictures of the motor and I still haven't found help to unload the saw out of the back of my jeep yet but the motor will be going on the saw after its redone.

Hey all, this is my first post.. Names Wayne, been lurking this forum forever because there is so much cool stuff but never participated til now.

I went to a local pawn shop that just opened before I went to Kuwait and it was pretty empty, so now that I'm back I went in and they were much more stocked. They had two bins with hand tools but mostly sockets just dumped inside. I noticed an sk socket and then another.. Well after about an hour I found a pretty compete set of 1/2 drive sk sockets. I'm pretty happy with everything I found. Here's the pics..
19769cdf505a075afe725c88dfd41020.jpg

b1de02470346572792300f8d6a1db0fd.jpg

So the sockets are metric 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 21, 22, 24.
SAE 1/2, 9/16, 5/8, 11/16, 3/4, 13/16, 7/8, 15/16, 1.

The only one I couldn't find was an sk 15/16 so I got a kd just to have a complete USA set.

The 3/8 drive is sk 10 and 17mm and a sk-wayne 7/8. And a really rough snap on deep 15mm impact socket.

Then there's the sweet sk 45175 ratchet that I'm pretty excited about. And all the wrenches you can see the size.

Everything was in those bins like I said and they were all 99 cents each and buy 3 get the 4th free. So everything you see in those pictures I got for a total of $30! I know it's not the best prices but I'm really happy that I got 2 pretty much complete sk 1/2 drive sets plus all the rest.

Let me know what you all think, this is an amazing thread and really makes you want to go hunt everywhere lol. Think im gonna go back soon and start picking out 3/8 drive USA stuff and see if I can make a mismatched set.

A $ a tool for SK that looks to be little used and in good condition is a cheap way to build a decent socket set, the wrenches are definitely a good buy and those Tuff 1 ratchets are highly sought after.

Tank Very well done and thank you for your service! I spent about 6 years with the big red one and loved every minute of it! There are some decent estate sale there in Manhattan from time to time. Check out Estate sales.net Also there are always some killer farm auction up in the Clay Center area. I use to Kleen up on Keen Kutter stuff back in my time there!

Thanks man I will definitely look in to that! Yea Riley and the surrounding area isn't too bad (much better than my last station).

Thanks guys I'm feeling better and better about this. And yea that ratchet is cool and I'm looking forward to using it but think I have to rebuild it. Going to take it apart before I order a kit though.

Tankmech - Welcome home, and welcome to the forum.
Fair warning, the large amount of tool candy displayed on this site will end up costing you a lot of money. It's an infectious disease and all of us are carriers.

You're starting off on the right track. The used market is a great way to assemble a set of tools that will last a lifetime and beyond. With a tactical approach and patience, you can eventually put together a great set of tools for a fraction of the cost, as you've already discovered.

In addition, I find that going to sales and flea markets is a good way to get away for a few hours and relax from my normal pressures and responsibilities.

The various areas of this site will have plenty of members willing to answer just about any questions you may have. Whatever conundrum you may face, the chances are good that someone here has already faced it and you will likely get several solutions to help you out (some conflicting). While the occasional troll does appear, the overwhelming majority of the members here genuinely enjoy helping out and offering advice.

No sales for me on the weekend, I was up home at my Mom's for her wedding. I did manage to rummage through the garage and brought back a few more of my Grandfathers tools. Here's what I came back with...

(Sorry for the blurry picture, was in a hurry to go to the bathroom when I took it and then went and put everything away before seeing how bad the picture was)

Bosch wire cup
Indestro hex drive socket set
Lufkin Canada Peewee 8' tape measure
Blue case with my router bits I've been searching for, for about 6 months... until I saw the stupid blue case and remembered they were hiding in there, in plain sight of course...
KD snap ring plier
Richard's (Sheffield, England) scissors and small pocket knife
Xcelite Philips screwdriver (I've been playing with my Grandfather's tools for 30 years, first time I've ever seen this thing. Found it hiding in a nut/bolt cabinet)
3 Gray Canada ignition combo's
3 Yamaha DOE's (they came with an old motorcycle my Godfather had in the day, we only had the 1 Yamaha motorcycle in the family, no clue as to why I have 2 of the same wrenches)
All the other DOE'S are Heyco's from West Germany
12" Westcott adjustable wrench (The Keystone MFG Co Buffalo, NY)
Wiss snips
And the Ford dealer tag is likely from one of my Grandfather's 20 or so cars he bought there. The dealership is now defunct but it's a neat memento. One of the original owner's sons (a now 71 year old retired Doctor) is a member at our gym here in town and we regularly talk about back home and their garage.

I found the scissors and pocket knife to be neat since they were made in the same town where Record vise's were made. I guess Sheffield must have been a big manufacturing centre.

done a quick stop at a couple of yard sales over the weekend, managed to find 1 yardsale worth buying anything and i picked up a huge tube of random sockets and wrenches and a small toolbox for $20, most of the sockets were walmart brand but i have more than enough for a junkyard run set that i can keep in the truck toolbox full time. i did manage to find a couple of things though.

sk 5/8 deep well 12 point 1/2"
proto 9/16 12 point 3/8"
10mm gearwrench in 1/4", can never have enough 10mm sockets
craftsman -v- 1/2" extension
proto 3/8" breaker bar, a littler over 8 inches long
kal-1280 speed wrench in 3/8" made in japan
proto 1224 3/4" wrench
sk wayne 7/16 wrench
blackhawk cti1606 pry bar

i also managed to snag a old sewing machine for $5 and a brand new dewalt sawzall for $30 and made a wrench roll for my wrenches so i didnt have to hear them move around in my toolbox, not the best design but it works well for now, i still have to make a roll for metric. i hoping i come across a decent sale on some screwdrivers since i dont have any decent ones other than a small screwdriver bit set, and i might be able to get a matco 1/4"-3/4 or 7/8 wrench set from a friend thats upgrading to a snap-on set.

It's been awhile since my last post, but that's because both my camera and my phone broke about the same time. So I'll update with some recent acquisitions from this past weekend.

- Partial Craftsman Heritage 3/8" socket set - $11
- Mostly complete Williams 3/8" socket set (with a few bonney sockets to boot!) - $11
- Walden 1/4" socket set - $8

Riley seems to be specializing on mostly ratchets!

Well done!

Thanks!

I have my eyes open for ratchets, boxed sets, and DBEs - mostly because they are all fairly cheap and store easily.

If I ever get around to sorting and photographing them, I've picked up at least another 100 DBEs for my collection - some of which I know will be in demand :)

This was my $6 haul at the flea market today. Pretty excited to finally have a metal gas can. Now I just need to find a spout for it. The best I've found so far is the EZpour, but you have to buy their adapter for metal cans on top of the price for the spout.

Signal,

google "eagle gas spout" or "eagle gas can parts" and you should be able to get a good flex spout made for the can...

Looked through a thread the other day on Multimeters on this site and decided my no-name one was not good enough (this site sure finds ways for you to spend money) Went to some pawn shops today and picked this up for 60 plus tax along with a 99-mint Win Model 12.

Now I just need to figure out what the heck the other meter that came with it is. I didn't know it was in on the deal until they got the case out of the back. I was very happy with the nice case and extras

Here's an item that I picked up at an estate sale a couple of weeks ago.

Blue Frog

Very nice find.

Maybe I need to start looking into estate/yard sales again. Seems to be where a lot of you guys get the best deals. I tried a few times before, but my luck it was all soccer moms selling baby clothes.

I have the 9-52113 and 9-52114 rethread tap sets I found at an estate sale earlier this year. I've been looking for the 9-52115 and 9-52116 die sets to match, but so far no luck.

I might consider that good luck depending on the soccer mom.

That's a manometer. A pretty good one too. Also Fluke is as good as they get.
