3bay: did you actually have to remove that Crafstsman badge to get it for $1 or was it really just laying around? do tell how you removed it if you did would you? nice stuff to pick up with it too.

ALL: of course you are all picking up stuff i wish i owned and congrats on your finds. i picked up something i've been looking for a long time now. A SHOP OVEN. i still don't have my own shop to put it in, but unless a member or friend talks me into selling this one i'll keep in in storage until i do move and buy or build a shop.

in any case it's a 1950's GE stove/oven and i'm pretty sure i pulled it out of the basement it was put in originally in 1950. it still works and the drawers will make some nice tool storage. i would seriously remodel our kitchen and have it built in a new kitchen, but the cheif chef says she doesn't like this style and don't want to mess with the HAPPY WIFE, HAPPY LIFE theory.

also picked up another metal bin and not sure why i like these so much. this one is one i don't see often or at all so even though i didn't NEED it it's now mine and finding a spot for it. it's 31 inches wide 20 inches tall and 17 inches deep and weighs maybe 80 pounds.

stopped at 3 garage sales and they really were junk like my wife mentioned and i had to tell her that this search i have ongoing isn't easy and you strike out a lot.

Pretty good weekend for me, got a Kenmore mini fridge for $2, 2 heavy duty extension cords for $8 each, 36" Stanley USA crowbar for $4, Estwing USA dead blow $2, and a cool Hawaiian shirt for $3 (not pictured.) Tested the fridge last night and it works great, I think I'll bring it to work with me.

Flea market finds today. SK wrenches and sockets, Williams combo, Lectrolite DBE. Bonney, craftsman, and Indestro sockets. Craftsman hammer with original handle. Dunlap grinder, it was stuck but some fiddling and it works.

ALL: thanks for the KUDOS on the old 1950 GE range/stove/oven. it does have the burner that drops. if also has the crockpot or deep fat fryer as you say. it also has the ORIGINAL BOOKS that came with the stove. i've been looking for one of these for a long long time that not only looks good, but works too because i'm not an appliance repair guy per se. When my dad fell and broke the handle on my mom's 1949 GE stove she still uses in her house and she's used since she bought it for $60 from her mom in 1960 and her mom bought it new. there is barely a scratch on my mom's so i was just doing an intense search for a handle and came home with this one that was a 10 hour drive and rented UHaul. i was smiling the entire time and i picked up this tank of a tool box i'm sure exactly how i'm going to use. how do you like the stops to keep the drawers from falling out? i bet it weighs 200 pounds and maybe 300 and very easy to roll around. it just needs some lovin. sorry pic of the bolt on each side keeping the drawers from falling out didn't show up in the picture, but i bet it's a 3/8 inch bolt 1.5 inches long that is welded in place with an end sticking through the drawer so it won't come out (maybe never). more pictures on the metal cabinet thread in vintage tools and here's the link if some of you haven't seen that thread. cheers http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=305350

Two quick stops this AM. one was a TOO that turned out to be an estate sale I was at last week:

The estate sale I picked up 3 books and a small wood handled driver. $1 all


Robert Browning, printed in 1911:

617 Irish Ballads! (small book VERY small print and no copyright or printed date)

Technical Drawing Text book. this one was interesting as it was for Aeronautical drawing, and was war years, second edition 1942, copyright 1040.

The yard sale I got some fishing lures, an old Fly reel, very small, and a three section "Tyee Tackle" bamboo fly pole with two different tip sections it needs 3 or 4 guides replaced, but other than that its in nice shape, and came in a totally interesting holder! From what I managed to google its 1930's and the company was located in San Francisco. Twenty bucks for all of it.

Second day of the flea market. Spotted the Bonney set from from across the aisle, ran over and snapped it up before I finished up with another vendor! Armstrong set is ok, it's got owners marks on all the pieces. The wrenches are all SK, and a Bonney adjustable.

Craigslist score, Quincy 240-9 pump and the biggest 3hp motor I've ever seen, $60. Also came with a 2 piece belt guard. Dogs being buttheads in the background. Now I have to figure out how to unload this thing when I get home. Told the wife I need to buy a forklift one of these days...

Drives - that Craftsman badge was on a vendor's table. He thought it was off a tool box and I told him a drill press. He does a lot of dumpster diving and scrapping, so who knows where it came from. I thought it would be nice to display.

Nothing to report this weekend on the yard sale front, only ended up buying 5 books (The Pacific, Steve Jobs biography and 3 hockey books) for 2.50$.

However, I did buy this last weekend for 12$ at one sale.



First thing that caught my eye was this complete Tecomaster Professional 1/4 drive set. I like the Tecomaster stuff from the old Eaton's stores. My Grandfather has quite a bit of Tecomaster tools that I will eventually end up with but I'm in no hurry to inherit them.

This stuff was inside the Beach B20 and socket box (more on that later)


- All the sockets in a line on the back of the box are 1/2" Gray Canada, no duplicates. This includes the stubby extension, swivel and drag link socket. Speeder handle is also Gray.
- The taller of the deep well sockets is an Indestro, the next three are Williams USA and the last is SK.
- The two DOE on the box are Dreadnaught and Blue Point Supreme
- Socket on the other end and the DOE is Proto USA.
- Extension and Swivel are Challenger by Proto Canada
- Feeler gauge is a Williams USA I need to de-rust.
- Usual little Lufkin tape measure
- Pliers are Fuller France.
- All the combo's on my workbench are Gray Canada

What is the plastic thingy? It's marked Craftsman USA.


- 2 teaspoons (wonder if the PO's SO is looking for them, hah)
- Files are all Nicholson USA or Canada
- Smaller adjustable is a Diamond Calk, bigger one is a bent Fuller (Japan) that's going to go in the junk/yard sale pile
- 8 Three Nun's tobacco tins with random hardware in them, except for one that still had some tobacco
- 12 volt light with a magnetic base
- Combo's are 1 Snap-On, 1 Williams Superrench and 1 Owatonna Tool Company (last 2 are my first of each)
The rest is rather unremarkable.

Now, there's the socket box I got in the lot. It's in decent shape if you don't take into account the surface rust, but it has no identifying marks at all, except for this oval indent in the lid that once likely had a logo. Any ideas?


Also had about 10 of these corner brackets in the bottom of the Beach box, someone here likely knows what they came from or what they are for, I don't.


The morning after that sale I was talking to an elderly friend of mine at McD's over coffee and she told me I should come over and check out her long past husband's stuff and see if I wanted anything and I grabbed the following three items:
- 14" Made in Canada toolbox (sticker on it is very similar to the one on my Beach stack, which leads me to believe it may be Beach but it also may not be)
- Leatherette White Tape 50ft
- Old pry bar with no identifying marks, she thinks it came from her Father in Law's estate which would put it at nearly 100 years old.

Attended my first auction today, wasn't too many items I was interested in but the one thing I saw in the listing I wanted, I ended up taking home.

Finally found some card files like I've been searching for seemingly forever


Paid much more than some of you guys do, at 80$ for the pair, but they NEVER come up around here so I had to ****** them up at 40$ for each row of drawers. Now I just need to figure out if I want to incorporate them in my new workbench build (whenever that happens) or figure out a permanent stand for them, just set them on my unused WorkMate for now.

I had a good flea day yesterday. This lot was my very last purchase of the day, all for $15. The rest of my finds I haven't had time to get out yet but I will.

Tim: if you can find a spot to use those old card files you certainly didn't pay too much for them. feel free to post them up on the Metal cabinet thread and if you can take a few pictures of them in single row to show they are not connected that would be great. i don't see many that style at all so you did fine.

3Bay: those old Craftsman Heritage badges used to sell on Ebay a few years ago for $10-20 to the guys that needed them for a toolbox, drill press or vise or some other Craftsman tool so good find and hopefully you'll find something to put in on yourself because i like those years of Crafstsman tools the most.

Had a bit of a Plomb weekend at the flea

Barcalo E code DBE
2 Newer? Barcalo DOEs, some shelf wear, but they don't appear to ever have been used. they are raised panel on one side and depressed on the other.
Beat up Plomb flathead, any tips on getting those apart without hurting the metal bits? a little Xcellite
3/4 Plomb war finish extension, even with the wicked pipe wrench marks I couldn't talk the guy under 10 bucks. he also dint believe the speeder was repaired. I beat the jaw marks down as best I could, filed the high spots and wire wheeled till the edges wont cut me open.
Vacuum grip dykes. nice Proto pebble line wrench.

Picked up this top and bottom set for $30 off a Craigslist ad. The top box is a RemLine and the bottom is a 1972 Craftsman. The Craftsman is missing some slide clips and the panel that goes behind the door (the door is in there). The RemLine was just missing the keys.

I feel like I've seen that same logo posted on the forum before, but eroded. I can't remember to tool. I recall thinking it looked similar, but longer than th Colt logo.
This post is much clearer; does it say "CutsEasy"?

Your chisels appear to be CutEasy chisels. Not alot of info out there but found a pic of the logo on an Ebay listing:


Also great find on the R.J. auger bits.Look like great shape and hopefully you got a good price.They used to fetch $100+ on Ebay.I haven't kept up with pricing since I got a set 10 years ago and haven't stumbled upon any.
