Nice Reed Joe! Is it going to be a collection piece?

Probably not keeping it. I've been amassing 6" vises like potato chips recently, so it will head out. I bought a 6" Vanderman, 6" Parker, this 4C and a few others the last few weeks. Im running out of room again!

That is a great radial arm saw. I used one for years. Be advised that there is a recall on this saw due to a legal settlement. Sears will give you $100 for the carriage.

Neither of these were great deals but both were items I've been searching for.

Picked up this 2003 dodge 2500 4x4 gas with a bad motor for $2500. My plan is to put a 12v Cummins motor in it.

While I was there I got talked into buying this Warn 16.5k winch for $300. Works as it should.

Busy weekend but snuck in one sale on the way back from the post office on Saturday . I picked up a mixed bag of wrench's , Snap-on and Wizard. IH knock wrench, 15" Proto adjustable and a 3/4 Blackhawk breaker bar. It's a beast and has a receiver in the bottom of the handle for a cheater!. Also grabbed and incomplete SK 3/8" set with a beat up case, A Huot drill index . There's only a few bits left but I wanted the box any way. Last of all was a old wore out pair of Porter bolt cutters. The total was and even $20 . The old farmer was tickled that some one was willing to buy his junk he gave me the bolt cutters!

This weekend's finds:

Stop 1: All for $12

Bostich stapler, Stanley folding mason's ruler, Stanley saw set, pair of horsehair shoeshine brushes, Snap-On screwdriver, Xcelite nutdriver, Proto socket, pair of no-name wrenches, a brass grab handle off of something, some solder for electronics, and an antique bung wrench made by Reda Mfg.

Also included for free was a 1/8 piece of plate steel, with an interesting scene of a shark-looking alien man running on a planet's surface in space, carved into the metal. Not sure the story behind it, it's odd and I'm odd so I guess this is a match made in somewhere. It will hang on the wall of my garage.

Nothing for me this weekend.

Missed out on a free Atlas bench top drill press last night, seller claims it had a wonky motor, but I had one ready to replace it. Would have been a cool present for my step-father-in-law as he's been making jokes about me giving him mine every time he's in my garage.

It depends on the model of RA saw. some they have kits it "fix" them. Some they do the bounty on the motor and carriage.

It does qualify, maybe that's why it took a year to find one with the cabinet lol.

lubed and tuned it up last night, works beautifully. Plus I paid $75 and drove 120 miles round trip, they can keep the gift card lol

DuctTapeMan, love the alien, looks like one of the "Reptoids", a Reptillian Humanoid race... Not that I follow any of that mess... :D

It would be in my showcase of oddities as well. ;)

For 1.50 figured I couldn't go wrong. Not sure if some of the parts are worn out .

Win some - lose some - Looks like I lost on this one.

From an on-line auction - coupled with an Athol 623 1/2 vise in VG condition.

These appear to have never been used, or used very little - just cast into a corner of some sorts and left alone. I wish it could have been a cool dry place.

Most of those below 7/8" look similar th the last picture.

That's a shame.
CLR, a fine wire wheel, a polishing wheel, some elbow grease, and a lot of patience should have them serviceable again. Try a Simple Green scrub on the wrench roll.

My favorite find. I thought it would be a Williams flex head when reaching for it.

Nope.

Maybe a Vulcan.

Nope

Hornet. :rocker: Never seen one in the Superratchet style. Made my day.

Picked up this Red Diamond masonry hammer for a buck a week ago. Bought it to replace the Craftsman I gave my son a few months ago. Got to try it out splitting a rock open today. Nice to find parts of a trilobite inside, which I would not have seen otherwise.
Digging around TESS for "Red Diamond" trademark (registered 1951, 1st use 1930) led me to Masback Hardware Co (1877-1996), and this:

From time to time, Goodwill will cough up something good. I bought a very nice Bell Moto4 helmet there earlier this year, and tonight after dropping stuff off, I found a bike computer.

Specialized Speedzone Comp from what I can determine is the early-mid 2000's.

Not sure what they originally sold for, but a NOS one is on ePay for $200 and a used one for $45.

This one has all the parts in the sealed plastic and I paid the princely sum of $1.99 + tax.

The word is overused, misused and abused, but that is truly awesome, LesserSon! One question though: was it a freakishly random discovery or were you actually hunting for fossils in a known fossil area?

Those speed zone comps were good computers. I sold tons of those in the past.

I picked up a Troy Bilt Power washer that the owner said wasn't working for $50. I cleaned the carb up, put in a new spark plug and she fires right up. Not the strongest power washer I've ever seen but hard to beat for $50.

garage sale haul

Got all this today at one garage sale. They had had an estate sale a couple weeks ago but not everything had sold (no surprise seeing the price tags the company had put on them).

The tall stack is Akro-Mils. The two short red stacks are Ohmite "little devils" full of resistors(?). I couldn't find a name on the big box with a Boeing sticker on it. Apple peeler on top of the big stack is a "Sinclair Scott". Stanley number 59 dowling jig sits next to it. The little blue box is an Equipto full of ceramic discs (?). The cardboard box is full of Simpson instruments and other radio type doodads.

Any idea what the Akro Mils are worth? I don't know if I have enough room in my garage.

Went to check out a CL ad for an old 40's craftsman scroll saw. Asked the seller if he had other tools for sale. He siad sure, plenty of old stuff. He was cleaning out his father-in-law's place that had passed away. Anyway, came away with the following; Old craftsman tombstone toolbox full of all circle H drive tools, 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 inch and some other misc. tools. Old Irwin Auger box set, only two of which were actually Irwin, forstner bit set which I overpaid @$20, didn't realize it was China COO till I got home. Disston #2 saw vise. I especially liked the all the early flex sockets and the Williams DBE wrench set. Total was $60 for all. The #4116 SK sets I picked up from a garage sale a couple weeks ago.

This small Craftsman set. Is it 1/4" drive or something older?
