Went to an estate sale this morning. They had let people in earlier than the scheduled start time, and some of the toolboxes/tools pictured were already gone before I got there, but I spotted this right away on a workbench. Got a price for it as quickly as possible, which was $20, and happily detached it from the bench.

Prentiss Bulldog model 264. 4" jaw width but I think it weighs about 60 pounds. Good condition all around including the jaws, and has a swivel base with the original wrench.

This is my first "proper" vise and a huge upgrade from my tiny 4" Wilton which weighs about 1/10 as much. I might find something even better eventually but this is definitely a keeper for now.

Didn't snag anything else, and my hands were almost frozen by the end, but it was a very fun morning. I saw someone else who had already bought what looked like an Armstrong 3/4" drive set in a metal box, and I'd bet he snagged that for pennies on the dollar.

$20.00 for a 60 lb vise, excellent. I appreciate those fun mornings too.

I picked up this Gomco medical cart at a garage sale for $10. It's pretty heavy and thought it was a cool little cart. Not sure what I'll do with it but I am sure I'll find a use for it.

...that awkward moment when somebody posts an item they bought at your garage sale...and says the exact same thing about it as you did when you got it! :willy_nil

I hope it serves you well. I remember the transaction but can't seem to remember a face; so many people came through there yesterday. You also met nine4GMC, who was gracious enough to be there at 6:00 AM in 32 degree weather (something like -50 degrees when you account for it being Louisiana). He was the muscle with the beard.

Ha! Now that's funny! I was the guy that kept asking if the mustang under the cover was for sale. :)

Nine, they're watching us...I should've known they'd be watching given your previous "coke" issues :)

To stay on topic, on the way to remove my garage sale signs I stopped at another garage sale (yes, I've a problem) and bought this '70s Cramer stool for $5. Very dusty with some surface rust but it's comfy and the seat height and foot rest adjust properly. I've been looking for something like this for a while and it's pretty odd that I'm pretty sure I was telling Nine or somebody else that earlier in the day / week. Nine has graciously offered to do some snazzy upholstery work on it, but I think that's mostly because we have to move a 293782437 lb piece of machinery that he has coming in next week.

Got it, now I recall both the transaction and the face. Was nice meeting you, and I dig the Star Trek reference in your screen name (unless you're a doctor of some sort and in that case I would apologize).

The sale went really well, and I can only help but wonder how many other GJ members or lurkers came through there. Next time I'll have to put up a sign that says:

GJ Members with good posting history: 10% off final price
GJ Members who have posted "What happened to Sears / Craftsman quality?": 25% added to final price

Which one, there was only a thousand people inquiring about the mustang?:bounce: I remember it was late in the sale, lots of people loved the lil cart but no one bought it all morning until you came through. I thought it was cool too, I had to refrain from shopping Merc's sale too much though, I have enough stuff already but his prices were right and there was lots of great things there.

Damn, I guess I don't look like a doctor... You are the first person to have gotten the reference and I have been using this screen name since the 90's. I watched a lot of star trek TNG during college. And, yes, I know the real spelling is Soong.

Glad to hear the garage sale went well and it was nice meeting you. That is actually the first garage sale I have been to in a VERY long time. I happened to have some time to kill and passed your sign.

Would that be the 1970's plastic/vinyl non-staining strip-club pink leopard print seat cover, or the 1970's fuzzy dice fake pimp fur pink leopard print seat cover ?

Which one would be more comfortable when he's wearing his matching thong ?

DRSung: you might want to PM NINES to see if he can use that old Milwaukee grinder you mentioned on the BUFFER 101 thread. i'm sure he can use another one with all the work he's doing on his house.

Merc: love the discount method of thinking. WELL DONE!!

Jake: nice to see you smiling cause you probably were also laughing out loud while posting up that last post.

ALL: it's a tight race for the voting for next year's GJ garage sale thread host so get those votes in quick. the thread is in this section and Jake has posted up the link a few times if you can't find it.

MercLSU and nine4GMC you had a garage sale and didn't tell me! I might have made a trip! I just sold a lot of my garage and estate sale items and had both money and longings to buy something to replace them!

Some good finds this week, I will post mine soon.

Love the stool Merc. I have a old chair, all alum frame that I'm converting to a stool.
I also need to get with Nines to see what can be done with the coverings. I guess comfort was not a concern back then

Picked all this up this week...Ridgid 81p, made by Simplex. 8" jaws, 195 lbs. Then a collection of machinist lathe parts including this UNI-Vise and a bare-bones O.C. White light.

Paid $280 for the vise, paid $200 for everything else.

Did a trade today with a guy from CL. I had a non running concrete chainsaw and traded it for this nice Mac Tools top and bottom roller. I bought the saw for $50 so that is what I have into the box so far. I plan to clean up the box and possibly sell it (The Selling Part Won't Happen, lol). It has a streak of rust down the back side of the top box but I will sand and re paint. All the metal is straight and most of the slides function well. This Is now the second big box in my new garage (also have a HF 44").

I added a pic of my Redneck unloading skills. Sold the forklift so yea...:lol_hitti

Nice unloading skills. I used the same skills to unload and setup my lathe :D

What an awesome trade. I'd love to have that box.

Had to work Fri Sat Sun this week so not a single Estate or Garage sale. But I did hit an antique store today and scored all this for $12.

SK Line wrenches

V & B alligator wrench

KoTo 3/8 ratchet

ARTISAN 3/8 ratchet

not bad, usually vintage tools are super high priced in there.

Also there's an international Harvester tool box where I got these from.

Nice picks. The artisan ratchet in that size is hard to come by. You did well.

I wondered if it was pretty rare. I also sawa couple of John Deere Wrenches. they were pretty high though. Are they very sought after ?

not so much the tractor guys, the ih chrome tool collectors go crazy over these. i had like 800 ih tool collection sell at my big "d" sale. at that time the 134 ih chromes sold for more than the tractor and implement ones put together. i never sold my ih chrome adjustables, they made 4, i got 3, looking 4 the 8"er. the ih chromes r hard 2 find.

Deere wrenches sought after?...Yes....I'm one of them. They need to be the USA TY series. I finally got the 1" this weekend and that makes my TY3500 series set complete. Took me 2 years of farm sales, pawn shops and a couple on Epay to line these up.

I like those!! Maybe I should check those wrenches out again. I think they were pretty over priced though. One is a big wrench ones a lot smaller like a 5/8 maybe. Ill check this week when I go looking again.

I've heard by some they were made by Bonney, and they do look like the Bonney wrenches of that era. I have also heard that Utica tool made these for Bonney and Deere as well as other companies. I'm sure they were not made by Wright. I have had IH and currently have a full set of the Wright wrenches that are just like the IH ones, they are nothing like these Deere wrenches.

Now I am only in need of a couple of the large metric wrenches to extend my 10-19mm set.....the search continues.

Rag Top FYI the smaller ones bring good money on Epay as they were the ones that every farmer took out of the set and threw in a tractor and are now missing. If they are Tawian wrenches don't bother with them, they need to be TY3200 or TY3500 USA wrenches.

Are you talking more than pliers (or related) or adjustable Wrenches? I haven't seen, in person or otherwise, that they made any wrenches aside from adjustable.

That's a nice set......are these made by Bonney or someone else? Maybe multiple manufactures?

Never mind......I've read the replies.

Well, this isn't exactly garage sale, but it is a good score for me! In talking to my dad tonight I was reminded of when I was young and had gotten a 2 stroke 4 wheeler to ride in the dirt and such. As I had it and rode it, it fell apart the entire time. With the help of my grand father I got my first real tool set together he gave me a box and some tools to add to me meager set I had gathered up . I had put my tool box up when I sold the quad, then again when I moved to my current home 13 years ago. I went and found it and its a Waterloo box, filled with good stuff I never even looked at back then. Cleaned the box up and sorted the junk from the good stuff.

Proto and Challenger Adapters
Plomb 3/8" swivel
12" Cresent adjustable wrench
Hins Dale DBE 7/16 -3/8 wrench
Bonney 3/4 - 7/8 Line wrench
1" Proto Pro wrench
9/16" Proto Pro wrench
PLOMB Wrenches 1/2 , 9/16, 5/8
Stanley 10 mm wrench
Challenger Wrenches 7/16-3/8, 5/16-1/4
SnapOn 3/8 Breaker bar
SnapOn 3/8 extension
PLOMB 1/4 extension
Craftsman 1/4 extension
Proto, Challenger, Craftsman, Stanley Screwdrivers and bit driver.

Been layin around in that box for bout 20 years with out being used or even opened I can remember, so SCORE!! Ill add pics of the tools here and next post the box.

Here's my finds from last Friday.
Only good sale of the day had some interesting pictures so I made a beeline there. Traffic accident slowed me up a little and I was a few minutes late and missed a few items. I spent an hour there searching since it was the only good sale. I spent $35 total.

Pic 1: 3 vintage partially built models from the 1960's, 1962 and 1963 Car Model magazines, model catalog and a stack of model kit instruction sheets. The Testors glue was in one of the boxes and probably dates form the 60's too. Still smells potent!

Pic 2: Various Craftsman tools including a Vanadium early wrench and 70's/80's keychain screwdriver with the rectangular logo.

Pic 3 from top to bottom: Plomb extension and socket, dual marked Plomb Proto wrench, New Britain folding allen key wrench set, Bell System C wrench and Starrett calipers and plomb bob.

Pic 4: Nylint Tournehauler construction toy, surprisingly the ramp was still there tucked up underneath.

Then I hit some antique and flea market places on the way home.
Pic 5: $3 for these 3 car plaques. $20 for the Pennsylvania saw store display and $7 for these tools, Williams, Vlchek, Thorsen, large Snap On, Proto, P&C and unmarked brand USA wrenches, feeler gage made in Racine Wisconsin and unmarked trim removal tool.
