Free from the curb the other day. Four Magnalite pots with lids and a couple other decent pots.

Nice. That looks like a Wagner roaster on the bottom right.

Lugz and Crerus- I think you guys are right. No markings I can see. Probably repainted but it has the look. Looks like they made a lot of the old boxes we see.

454 Thanks for the link. Nice example of the socket kit.

And Kennedy. One of the most prominent "tells" to distinguish them is the indentation on the uprights on either end. Kennedy's was triangular, Simonsen's was circular.

Here is the manual on them jmarkwolf, I was unaware of them until last year. The splayed leg stand sits on the caster pieces and a single bolt goes through each leg to secure them. I'll post pics when I install them, Merc said they physically function but not to today's standards of moving a top heavy machine around. He got a mobile base from Northern Tool that's more stable and offered these to me. I don't move mine a lot so I figure it will be perfect for my needs.

Thanks Nine, very interesting.

That lower right pot looks like my wife's mother roaster pot she has, pretty solid pan that's for sure!

Magnalites are great! I like them better than Guardian, except for the octagonal griddle/serving platter (never seen one for Magnalite)

Tools only sale today, wish I got there earlier missed out on a couple things I saw in pictures. It was a crazy grab-fest and I think I did okay considering how fast things were going. Lots of Snap-On, Proto, SK, and Mac.... The guy used to be a diesel tech I believe... Lots of 3/4" drive tools... I'm guessing his name was Russ since that is what was engraved on everything.

First was a small SK socket set, outside of box pretty much all paint worn off but still nice. A little Snap-On socket was hiding in there too.

Next was a box of mostly Proto cold-chisels and punches.

A 3/8" SK ratchet in the baggie with a couple misc socket stuff. The ratchet was pretty much brand new condition.

Next is a gallon bag full of mostly big allen wrenches! Hard to tell the scale from the pic, sorry.

A box of aluminum rivets, I just thought they were cool... No idea of the value. Explosives Department??? "Better Things For Better Living... Through Chemistry" lol

30" long 1/2" drive extension. No name on it unfortunately. Seems old & good quality. Considering what kind of work this guy did if that thing was cheap junk it would have broken a long time ago.

A pair of Proto 3/4" drive extensions... All the other 3/4" ratchets & breakers were gone so I got a deal on these.

Some propane tips, unfortunately no box, they were hanging on the wall.

Nice set of 3/4" SK sockets... Mostly dried grease & dust on them, they are cleaning up real nice.

A pair of well used 1/2" drive SK ratchets. One is pretty long. Soaking in evaporust right now, not sure how they will turn out. Got a decent price because of condition.

A coffee can full of drill bits... $5

3 full old oil cans... Can't pass these up

A box of miscellaneous wrenches and such. Bonney, Craftsman, PowerKraft, China, etc...

Chinese wedge $2 and a $1 sharpening stone...

This metal box was cool, for $7 I couldn't pass it up. It's probably about 3' tall or more. I don't think they really looked inside because all the manuals for the equipment that got sold today was in it... LMAO :willy_nil

I also bought a swivel chair he had at his workbench for $2, but already sold it to my old neighbor down the street. Got a can of well-used carb-cleaner in a gallon can (with the little basket) for free.

This sale cost me, but I'm planning on selling a few of these things so I will come out alright.

There was a neat penncraft rolling toolbox, but the top was missing the lid that flipped up, and the bottom only had 3 drawers and the rest was big empty space to store large things.

Was looking in the box of rivets and there was the manual in there. Apparently you use some sort of rivet iron to heat the head and within 1/2 to 4 seconds the back side expands. If you look closely there is some sort of compound inside the rivet. I wonder if they make a popping sound or something? lol...

I can't find any info online on these kind of rivets...

EDIT - LOL, found some interesting articles from 1942-1943 talking about them to speed up aircraft production! LMAO

Awesome rivets!!

I just found a couple youtube videos. Everything else I've found dates or talks about around WWII so I guess they never caught on afterwards... lol

Tempted to go play with these in my garage, but don't need the cops coming around, LMAO...

Can you scan the manual and post those links please? I'm pretty sure a smaller version of these are what are holding my Helite TT together, and if you think about it it's perfect for what we all use Pop rivets for today. Blind riveting.

I'd like to get my hands on some my size for some repairs...

Here's the pamphlet that was in the box. When I go back I'm going to dig around for the iron (if there ever was one, I doubt it)...

That looks like a standard (for the times) electric soldering iron that just uses a modified tip.

Man, I bet one of those could be set off with a match...

Topop, what's up with that box of cutter in the 5th pic up there?

Here's some better pics of the Sioux valve seat grinding set up.

Re: 2017 Garage Sale Thread: Delco Packard battery post cleaner

A bit behind in posting, have made several good sales in Northwest Florida since the beginning of the year. One particularly interesting item is this battery post cleaner. It is labeled each end, one red, one green, Delco Packard Part No. M16-115. I've seen the usual dome shape on one end covering the cable clamp brush, with one post cleaner on the other. This is first one I've come across like this. Perhaps there is some reason to clean one post (+ red) with one color and the other post (- green) with the other? Contamination? Both red and green measure the same at 5/8".

How many bent spring steel pins on that carbon scraper, UNAIU? ;)

Sorry Lugz, for the delayed response. Nasty stomach bug had me down for a few days.
The Dunlap scraper has 10 spring steel pins. Will be headed to our friendly Dunlap collector. :)

I've seen plenty of these pre-1933 "Flash" models with one jaw attachment in place and even more of the post-1933 models with the year and price stamped on them (took me a while to find a wartime model - I have a "43"), but I've never seen one of these pre-1933 "Flash" models with four jaws and the original leatherette case, topop! This is HOLY GRAIL category! One of the finest acquisitions of the year so far in my book. Congrats!

Yeah it was a righteous buy LOL. Only one I've ever seen like this as well and unlike others that are marked six dollars, this one is Mark five dollars on the leather pouch. There is a really nice brochure for these on eBay, but they want four times what I paid for the wrench . I'm going to try to message him and see if they'll come down a bit . Thank you

My 1943 "10-in-1" model is stamped "$5", but it's after the Flash Sales Corp years, marked with only the Eifel marking. Those Flash Sales Corp brochures are very hard to find in the wild (fleas, etc, I don't shop on eBay). It's my understanding they were sent to their jobbers and they were packed with sales tips, like waiting on the side of the road for a car to break down! :)

Got another answer to my CL ad. This load cost me $112.00

Old Army E-tool This version has the pick!
Unbranded fire axe
Miller Falls Brace
Jar of 250 1-1/2" blank brass ID tags
1909 Stanley plane
RR track anvil
Wooden Elephant coin bank
Old Craftsman mason hammer
Litco Littlestown No. 25 vise
A 21" long edged tool that mounts to a handle using a socket??? This tool/weapon has me stumped? :headscrat
Kennedy Kits machinist box (near Mint)loaded with electrical stuff, testers, 2 different style of rivet guns, heat shrink, fuses, bulbs, ECT,ECT,ECT...:shocking:
Vintage Sioux valve grinding set up!

Awesome find! I think I found your CL ad up there...I may post something down here, but I'm not sure if I need to get into more trouble than I already do. I have a few WTB ads but they're pretty specific and haven't yielded much of anything.

I stopped by a sale at lunch and got a decent lot for $8 and change.

Kelly Perfect double bit head
Two chisels, one offset
Large Williams DBE, will be stolen by Nine
General No 17 protractor
Drain wrench

Nice find on the Kelly Perfect! Yeah that cl ad could lead to trouble! Already pretty swamped but I can always turn it down if it's not something I really want so I'm just going to try to keep up for now. It really helped feed my addition through this winter slow down.

I went to a helluva sale today. Only problem I got there late due to family needs. I truly don't know what this guy preferred. There was a huge amount of machinist tools, gauges etc. Watch repair stuff including 4 custom watch makers benches. Blacksmithing stuff, 2 anvils, forge etc. And guns and knives. Conspicuously absent were mills, and lathes suitable for the accessories. Well a very rusty old hobby mill and a miniature lathe. The lathe along with most of the good stuff was sold. So this is what I came away with.

Not much really considering the amount there. Prices were also a little on the high end being 1st day but someone had bought up plenty even so.

I posted this on the DBE thread already, but am doing so here as well: I added to my giant Williams wrench collection with an Ebay purchase of this gal's little sister--a Williams 8045 Supperrench.

I now only need an 8053 to complete the top end on mondo Superrenches!

Free tools!!!!......everybody loves free tools!!!......

Tuesday I had an Drs. appointment at the VA Outpatient Care Center and on my way home I came across two old codgers setting up a yard sale out in front of a huge industrial building.......I looked over what they had outside (nothing much of interest) when one of the guys said " there's more for sale inside the building"........So, I went inside to see what else they had.

Well, once inside I saw a lot of furniture and junk (wasn't interested) and a lot of cars and boats under covers. The building was HUGE (Huge I tell you! :D) and it was sectioned off for different storage arrangements......one section had a motorhome bus and there were automotive banners everywhere and a section toward the rear had a granite/marble/stone cutting business in operation.

Long story short.....I came across a few tools in a bucket off to the side and asked the guy if they were for sell (couple of MAC sockets, Chanellock pliers, etc)
He said "no" but that he had "tons" of tools, that he'd been buying tools for 60+ yrs and that he even had tools he'd GIVE me!!......Well, that was all I needed to hear, I said "Show me where these tools you're going to give me are".......
Now, as to why he wanted to give me free tools.....I didn't ask....who am I to question his motive???  :lol_hitti

Here are the free tools......
He gave me the orange Ace Hardware tool box to put the freebies in

ft1.jpg ft2.jpg

To start off we have a Snap-on 1/4"dr 4MM hex socket and a Snap-on 22MM 1/2"dr impact socket....

ft3.jpg ft4.jpg

Next is a Mac 11MM shorty combo wrench and 3/8"dr Matco 6" extension....

ft5.jpg ft6.jpg

Nice little Snap-on 1/4"dr 4MM socket

More tools and pics to follow......
