Killer finds Ragtop, you **** big time!

Yep, one thing I've learned is to ask the other person how much first... Sometimes they will just say "a dollar" or some ridiculously low figure. Have to keep a straight face... Of course my 77yr old neighbor would reply with "50 cents"... lol...

thanks! I have no cle about SnapON, how do I date the FV and FVS stuff in here ? no date codes I see....

I went to a flea market auction yest - bids start at $3 and sometimes you can get the whole table for $3. Found some snap on there before and the usual crowd there doesn't know the difference between snap on and Pittsburgh- well won't pay any difference at least. Was a good time tho as I picked up some treasures - SO adjustable spanner ?, 70A snap ring pliers, another proto pair that seemed better cond, mini ridgid pipe wrench , blue point inspection mirror - minus the mirror , Klein adjustable (tools $12.5), monadnock PR-24-S billy club ($7 why not), Cman parts container ( $3) and some ford tractor posters for a friend that restores them( $3). The last thing was this old tool cart and nobody bid on it either so yes you guessed it - $3

If anyone can help me Id the box that would be great as it has no badge - is stamped made in the USA on the back - I'm guessing Cman but don't know for sure.

Just a shout out to anyone in the greater Seattle area that May 13, 2017 is the West Seattle Garage Sale. There are usually over 300 garage sales and it is quite the event! Put it on your calendar!

Take a look at the pic to see what that means density-wise. (Map from last year.) We've lived here 4 years now and just walk around about a 4 block radius from our house and go to 15-18 sales. In 2014 we participated as a seller and it was crazy. Last year I got a full slide-pull hammer set for $20.

Official web page:
https://westseattlegaragesale.wordpress.com/

The West Seattle Blog will have updates here and there until the sale:
http://westseattleblog.com/

Ooooh, I'll be there!

Nice find Impala. I think that is what the earlier Model 80 Craftsman became when they upgraded he 80 in a few ways.

I haven't put it next to the craftsman I picked up a few weeks ago. It's looks like the same model? The craftsman I posted under the drill press section.

I'm back! Hit two garage sales and one estate sale yesterday. First garage sale was 40 mins away out in Levittown which turned out to be a total china tool rust-fest. Pics made it look promising.. oh well sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes the bear eats you. Only redeeming factor was they opened early and I was able to get to the second sale in Ambler just as they opened. That's where I found the tools in the pic. Snap-on sockets, couple of wrenches including a John Deere one and a brand new Starrett center punch. Estate sale turned out to be a bust.

This looks waterloo made but the edges are a little more crisp than my waterloo that looks very similar. My waterloo has markings on the front of the box on the metal that runs right above the front casters. Does your say anything there?

Check out early 70s medical carts. I have one from Sears, same era as grey/red, didn't have a nameplate either.

Went to an estate sale this morning. Got there early and still ended up with #78 and had to wait almost an hour to get in. By then the workshop was almost cleaned out. Missed out on a Freud router display, a bullet nosed Cman vise, and all of the handtools. Mostly only sawdust left behind.
Here's what I picked up for $10.

2 pieces of 1/4" plexi
--------approx. 18"x30"
-----------------20"x22"
asst. 4"x36" sanding belts
--------2 - 60g
--------3 - 80g
--------2 - 100g
Black Maple (?) slab 8"x13"X1-1/4"
2 - 8"x8" aluminum brownie pans (for sorting tools)
2 - 5" pulleys (1/2" and 5/8" arbors)
1 - 5-1/2" pulley (3/4" arbor)
partial Sear's cutoff disk set

Not a great haul, considering what I missed, but I did ok at less than $1/piece.

Finally after a long winter with no sales I got to hit a few today.

Picked up this craftsman circular saw and a small pair of channel locks and a brass plumb bob for 15$.

Anyone know who actually made this saw for craftsman? And about what year?

Thanks for your help

I would say early 80's with that logo. The ID label has Simpson- Sears (Canada) on it which changed to Sears Canada in 1984. Likely made by Diehl since Ryobi bought the company in 1988.

Did you hit the one in Chelmsford, Jake? I just got out of it and the basement workshop didn't even have the saw dust left. I scrounged around in the detris and found this for $2:

BB - Yup, that was the one. Had to park almost all the way down the street at the circle. The police were threatening to tow cars parked on the other side of the street because the cruiser couldn't get past.
A GreenWay yard vacuum went for $25 while I was standing in the driveway.

What number did you get ?
Did you go up to the garage sale in tyngsboro?
(I forgot about that one while I was out that way)

No number--I got there one hour before closing, so no line. I may hit the one up in Tyngsboro tomorrow or Monday.

I went to an antique auction last night and came home with this Fordson tractor tool box. Most likely 1920's era. Just surface rust to clean up before restoring.

No markings there - but searching vintage Waterloo it does look like one of em. Has made in USA stamped in back and pat pend on bottom draw.

Nine - if you're earning beads by asking people on the street to "show me your tools", it's a wonder you haven't been arrested yet.

You like my Mardi Gras meme eh?

That's not me in the pic, I'm not the party type but I was feeling festive with the meme generator and thought the tool perv would be funny. Mardi Gras is next Tues down here.

I think I went by six or seven garage sales today in the area... At first the most promising thing was a little mini fridge, but I really don't have a place for one at the moment in my garage so I passed. A couple sales were even just drive-by's...

As I'm going down the road I see a GJ sign, wasn't posted on CL or GSALR so I figure why not and I follow them. At first it didn't look like he had much, but I saw a weed eater and mower so I figured I would stop to see if price was right for my neighbor that likes to work on them.

Beat up old weedeater he wanted I think $60... old mower he wanted $100! :shocking:

But wait, next to those was a big blow-mold CMan box with some cordless tools in them. He said all the tools work, but the battery was dead. Was only asking $20... I have lots of extra C3 batteries so no big deal...

But wait, next to that was an old CMan radial arm saw... asking only $20 for it! I had to do a double-take. At first I texted my neighbor thinking he might want it (He declined because he didn't have any more room right now). I asked the guy if we could plug it in and try it out and he said sure. Worked fine, but needs a new plug. He didn't use it anymore and it was in his way...

I asked how much for the saw & tools... He said $30 for the pair... I said sold! So now I have to find a place for this bad boy!

After dropping my saw back off at home I went to the last sale I planned on which was supposed to be "tools & man stuff"... Mostly just rusty junk, but I did get a handful of old wrenches... CMan, Power-Kraft, Barclo, Penns. A Cman socket, a neat old switch, and a pin. $10 for those, I was feeling generous after just getting the saw. lol

Jason, you know about the recall on the Craftsman radial arm saws right? Depending on the model you can "cash in" the motor and slide head (they pad shipping) for $100, or you get new replacement guards, and table top. shipped to you...

Wow, I see the suckage is starting to flow in now, and it's only February.

I8A- Nice baton.

CBacres-Nice truckload there.

Garage&Beer - Great first haul. Shall we say Garage & Boards now? Looks like a nice Plomb set too.

Rickster- welcome back.

Nice finds all!

I went to an estate sale today that was not very good. A real mess, I got there late too and it was picked over. Not much of a sale when half of what you pick, the owner decides he must keep.

That's what happened. The guy kept half the tools I picked out, saying he only has one of this, and already sold two of those, etc etc. He kept the Snap On socket driver of course. Not a real estate sale in my book. Oh well.

He was a bit bitter from getting cherry picked early in the day.

Anyway, I picked up another parking meter mechanism. I think I am starting a collection now with 2 of these (oh no!).

A neat little Arco Jigsaw that runs off a drill.

The rest is misc. sockets and wrenches. Some name brands. A no name 1/4 ratchet. The Armstrong 12" adjustable is nice though. Real beefy.

$15 for the whole mess.
