Some finds from today: snap on metric wrenches, 5 for $20, and a few sockets, not great deals, but this compressor, for $25!

I've been using a different model of that same compressor for over 25yrs. Bought it used in the early 90's for $100. Just upgraded to a 30gal. I should have no problem selling the 12gal for what I paid once I get around to it.

Great for multiple nailers, even ran an air ratchet and impact gun. It served me well at home and on jobs until I started using a die grinder and sander.

That tractor seat would make a great scoot if you can find the right base.
Looks like a great sale, but I like the ones where you have to dig through the dirt.
If you aren't getting dirty, you aren't working.

Make ac,
Thanks for reinforcing this has been a product yo have been happy with. Hoping to get enough flow to run small media blaster with it, maybe some spray paint for the fence. Will be going online to find the manual tonight.

Paint sprayer - no problem.
Media Blaster - you'll blast for a few seconds then have to wait for for the tank to recharge. Repeat.
BTDT

Make sure you're using a good water filter, well away from the tank. These run hot, which causes a lot of water to go into the hose.

Believe me, my friend and I got plenty dirty when we hugged that oil soaked pig of a compressor to load it into and out of the van! It cleaned up nice though, runs well, but I do need to get the water out. Petcock won't drain, and haven't been able to remove from tank for fear of rounding off brass nut holding fitting to tank.

Also, I got two hoses and a HD Rockwellwater separator in the deal as well.

Picked up this small vise today for $12.00 at an antique shop.

Its a Brinks & Cotton #C 12, 2-1/2" swivel type that can be bolted or clamped to a work bench. Its 'Made in USA'.

Small but well made and heavy. I'll clean it up and bolt it to my hobby table.

Went to an estate sale this morning. Got there early and still ended up with #78 and had to wait almost an hour to get in. By then the workshop was almost cleaned out. Missed out on a Freud router display, a bullet nosed Cman vise, and all of the handtools. Mostly only sawdust left behind.
Here's what I picked up for $10.

Not a great haul, considering what I missed, but I did ok at less than $1/piece.

BB - Yup, that was the one. Had to park almost all the way down the street at the circle. The police were threatening to tow cars parked on the other side of the street because the cruiser couldn't get past.
A GreenWay yard vacuum went for $25 while I was standing in the driveway.

What number did you get ?
Did you go up to the garage sale in tyngsboro?
(I forgot about that one while I was out that way)

No number--I got there one hour before closing, so no line. I may hit the one up in Tyngsboro tomorrow or Monday.

I tried to go to the estate sale this morning. Cars all over and a big line. Said F this and backed down the street in my Tundra. Glad the police showed up and were scolding people for parking the way they did.
Will probably hit the Tyngsboro sale in the am. Never knew about it.

I've run into the cherry picked bitterness before. Never understood it... Am I supposed to leave good stuff behind? If its for sale what does it matter who buys it??

I had a pretty good flea market haul today…

The wooden chest is dated 1943 under the lid.

The socket set is a Hinsdale 3/8-inch drive, guessing late 1930’s or up to 1941. The case and all the sockets are Hinsdale SJ2x series but one (Plomb) and the male-to-female uni joint (also Plomb). The ratchet (H-12) and the extension are Hinsdale. I will be looking to complete this set. Guessing the missing piece is either a longer extension or possible a flex head/breaker. Have to do some research.

The three swivel sockets on the left are matching Cornwell.

Some orphan 1/2-inch drive sockets (Armstrong ST-1232, Walden 1832 with a nice “V” mark, Williams ST-1224), sliding tees (Husky H3884, and SK 40152) and an extension (SK 40162). The 1/2-inch drive speeder is a Plomb 5480 and the spud wrench is a Plomb 2613.

The dwarf 45* offset pattern DBE’s are Indestro Select Steel (3/8 x 7/16, 1/2 x 9/16) and Williams Superrench No. 9725B (1/2 x 9/16) with a “V” mark.

And the amber handle 1/4-inch drive spinner is a Plomb 4769. Rare bird to find in the wild in my experience. Maybe more common on eBait.

Here are some close ups of the Hinsdale set…

Also picked up this Singer oil can.

It will go quite nicely with these finds from late 2016 - a 100-year anniversary commemorative tape measure and a SIMANCO wrench, which were in the Singer repair kit!

Been a busy week for me here, but managed to pick up a few things:

Restore pick, $4 for each clamp and he threw in the Snappy and Hinsdale sockets for free.

Hit a used tool shop and found some things needed to fill spots in sets, Plomb, Snappy, Herbrand, and found some cool Proto, an LA 1/4 swivel, 1/4 ratcheting adaptor and a Plomb chevy drain pan screw tool. $15

Then hit an estate sale way out in the stick, picked over pretty good, but I found some goodness, Barn light shade, motor switch parts, Bonney wrench and wire strippers for $5.

Then swung by a buy/sell/trade spot I had never been too, and picked up some very nice SunTour drivetrain parts that will go on my old Peugeot. Was going to head to a promising a sale out in Bend, but woke up with a massive head cold...

No tools this week but I did pick up some CL lanterns and am working on one other CL buy.

These were acquisitions this past week, with the one more possible to go. Only one was close to notable.

Last night I made a short "road trip 2-1/2 hrs round trip (could have been considerably less if not for traffic congestion going, and a two car crash, flip, fire I was stuck in til I got off on a ramp... I never saw so many emergency vehicles ever...

Anyway I picked up a Coleman Granitware coffee pot, (It even has the basket for coffee, and I don't drink coffee...), A Centurey Primus "Mighty Lite" Prop lantern which I like this size for when I don't need a massive amount of light. and the real reason I went; A green Coleman 200A!

It's in really good shape other than a small amount of rust on the frame and the insides smell suspiciously like RUG... Pumps and holds pressure, so it should fire once fresh fuel is in it...

Before and after wiping it down; the yellow mark is just reflected light.

Earlier ion the week I picked up two more Propane lanterns, I only wanted the Northstar, but I had to take both (for the price of the NS so I'm not into the Centurey Primus for anything...) I'm undecided whether to try to convert the NS to Coleman Fuel or leave it... If I convert I'll have to find a NS fount.

4 new mantles and that came close to covering the cost of the lantern...

Here is my finds from the sale in Tyngsboro. Got it all for $23. .............

Nice Huot box, not familiar with that model. Now I wish I had gone yesterday.
I have two sizes of that wrench bracelet that I picked up at a sale. I keep them in the truck. They saved my **** when I needed to remove a vise from a bench during a mad rush at an estate sale. Not a great tool, but very handy in a pinch.

Ahhh, the emergency vise removals. You'd be surprised how many people have passed on buying a vise because of it having to be removed. I've picked up about 6 of them that way. Most of the time there's tools within reach to take it off.:lol_hitti

This and some good digging through boxes, getting on your knees with a flashlight, great finds.
I enjoy this part of it as much as the buys.

Two indoor garage sales this morning. Mostly onesies and dvds.
But also a Stanley sweetheart folding rule (one section sadly warped) Stanley 100 security screw driver, Stanley no.1 8" trysquare, a Disston no.0 safety file (think I may be able to sharpen brace bits), a large file handle, and a Craftsman screw starter / magnetic pickup tool.
$4.50 total.

Was talking to a local contractor who was doing some siding work for us and he mentioned he had a Miller arc welder that he was not using. Then he offered it to me for $80 and I could not pass it up.. Now just need to wire in a good 220 outlet and learn another welding skill.

I felt obligated to save the Huot box. Overheard the lady running the sale that what was unsold would be tossed. Not sure what I will do with it yet.

Just when I thought the weekend would be a bust I saw an estate sale sign while driving back from 5 other estate sales with not a lick of tools or anything worth getting (high prices)... I stumble across a really good haul!

$70 for all, they said that there was 10x the amount of stuff at the same prices on Friday and even a lot of classic car stuff like a almost completely restored thunderbird, almost makes me regret having class on Friday!

All these goodies, Craftsman sander/polisher, A unknown brand of right angle drill, Williams allen keys, USA made compression gauge, ratcheting set that uses hex keys for the sockets, bunch of sandpaper and other bits including wood handled screwdrivers and some small tape measures, Dunlap table saw with craftsman motor and all the parts to it, a large metal workbench, and a BIG filing cabinet. When I went back to get the bench and cabinet they threw in the large scissor jack and the contractor console for bench seat trucks which is still brand new in the plastic.

Also the workbench drawers fell off the tracks and the foot bent when moving it so nothing a little hammer work and 5 minutes wont fix.

There is also some other unrelated stuff that I got with the $70 but its not tool/garage related.

EDIT: I forgot the neat little Craftsman box!
