Man thats a really awesome set!! nice score! I have a Snappy speed wrench that was in my Plomb box last week. Its got the extra detent ball in the end as the ones in your pictures. Whats the extra for?

Here's my find for the day, and I didn't even leave the house. A member here sent me a link to Facebook Marketplace, you missed this and it was right by him. I messaged the seller about size, confirmed drawers where good, etc and then slept on it, as I have 9 of these Vidmars already.
So I shot them a offer of $ 150 and got a immediate acceptance. Anyway, they delivered to my friend as they had a crane truck.

When it arrived, he looked it over, told me what he thought of me ( the insides are like new, some dividers)and then opened the bottom drawer said I was really a low life something or another, because he found these.

A brand new set of 6"x2" casters. I think I did good for a $175 .
This is the second one in two weeks I've bought.

Had to go to lowes so I figured I would check out the last day of an estate sale close by there. At first I was going to go when they opened at noon, but got busy and ended up going around 2pm...

First I went to the garage, it was pretty barren. Just found the knee pad (which I could have used working in my garden these past couple days) and the short hose with sprinkler head. I know I needed a short hose for something but couldn't remember what, so I grabbed it just because it was so cheap.

Walked around house nothing to noteworthy. Then I found some stairs leading downstairs! Walked down to a home-office, looked enticing... Turned my head looked out an open door and saw a small shop!

Being the last day and they were already starting to wrap things up the place was picked over pretty clean (so I thought). Saw the Bernzomatic box for using LP/MAPP & Oxy, even had a striker & goggles. Found some rods that I think are brass or copper, spool of aluminum wire, so I threw those in the box. Saw another LP head and grabbed it too... Nice little tack hammer... wire brush sitting on the counter, didn't even realize it was a craftsman till I got home. Thin, fine sharpening stone. JP Danielson pliers (from the 40's I believe), USA adjustable square, Craftsman tap holder and a generic USA one. Oh, looked down on the ground and I saw the sockets in the holder, checked them out and they are Metric CMan =V= :) Dovetail saw & yellow funnel just because. Needed to fix a little hole in my sheetrock and I saw the repair kit so I grabbed that  Since my box was overflowing I saw a big dented old coffee can in the corner of the work bench, I grabbed it and saw some sockets and stuff in it... Craftsman, Proto, Wera, Snap-On, Cornwell, and Companion USA. :)

Finally I saw the companion USA wood vise mounted on the work bench. No screwdriver in sight! Didn't want to walk all the way back to my truck so I made do with stuff around the shop. Thankfully there was also a cheap socket set so I could get the lag bolts out.

Could barely hold all the stuff I had and made it up the stairs to check out. Most of the things didn't even have prices on them, majority were just $1, highest price was the $9 torch set. Guy sitting there asks what all I had and he kind of looks through the box... "How does $10 sound?"... I told him sounds good to me.

I attended the Portland Automotive Swap Meet the past 3 days and came home with quite a haul.

Powr-Kraft 10pt socket set - $10
Challenger socket set (sans proper ratchet) - $3
New Britain socket set (sans ratchet) - $10
Proto "Flying Lady" top chest - $40
Matco 1/2" drive 200 in/lb flex-head torque wrench - $20
NEW Proto 3/4" drive breaker bar - $40 (My employer will reimburse me for this one, so I didn't mind paying half retail)
Craftsman 3/4" drive socket set with extensions and slider bar (not pictured) $50
A sweet P&C tools star wrench - $10
Lots of various rachets, wrenches, sockets, and misc that were, for the most part, $1 or less apiece. Much more that I have yet to photograph.

Brian

My haul from a estate sale at a local farm. I was out of town until Sunday morning so I probably missed all sorts of goodies but I also managed to get a few. For a grand total of $12 I got a 10 lb. Sledge, a Starrett hack saw, a vintage Silca pump a cool old brass master lock and a couple other odds and ends. Hope everyone else had a great day.

Rileysan what drive size is the New Britain socket set? I picked up a 1/2" ,you can see it a few pages back, and its yours if it works. 'Course it needs a spring and BB... but free is free.
By the way, the booth you maned, did it have a Snap On box and a couple red and grey Craftsman boxes sitting around in it? If that was you, I walked right passed.

Not a garage sale but a cl deal. It was listed as bad center reed valve but after getting it home I see the side head is cracked. I got hosed for about $200 here today for this 80 gal.

Thank you for your offer!

I know the booth you speak of, and it was not mine. I was tempted to buy the 2 drawer red/gray top chest, but I never got back around to making an offer (he only wanted $35). If it were a 10d chest, I would have jumped.

As for the New Britain set, it is 3/8" drive. I think I have a ratchet that is the correct era for the set.

Here are a couple of pix.

Maybe not! Can you post pics of the damage or send me some? I have repaired issues like that before. Might be more simple than you think.
Sometimes it just takes some creativity.

Swingpress, I'll post up later but it apparently fell on the concrete on that one head and split the casting between the fins. That's just what I saw when I got home, I haven't even unloaded it yet and got it in the light to examine it good.

Does anyone have any experience with the HF two cylinder 5hp compressor heads?

I'd have been a bit too spendy if I'd heard about this estate sale earlier...opened on Thursday but I didn't get there until today. Prolly a good thing...

Spent $5 each on the MagLite and the step down transformer, $20 on the Proto puller set, $35 on the 1 1/2 ton jack of indeterminate make or origin (which sure looks a lot like a Hein Warner WS now that I check). Everything else was a $40 bundle including a Craftsman V 3/4 t handle breaker bar, 2 full bottles of NLA MAPP gas, a NIB Milwaukee Pneumatic (????) air hammer with bits, gigantic punches, pickle forks a-plenty, and abrasive discs for days. Not pictured are the canvas cloths or the box of 70s **** that snuck into my box.

I could have stayed all day going through the hardware bins, but wisely escaped with what you see below.

Guy said his company bought it and he bought it from them damaged with intention of fixing it. He said it was relatively new but they would not warranty it. I unloaded it and got it inside the shop to have a better look and it is NOT damaged. The topmost fin is cracked but it does not appear to affect the cylinder as I first thought. I plan to make a couple gaskets and put it back together(seller had the center head off) then try it out and get a real diagnosis of whats up. BTW, the tank is dated 2015.

Edit: He actually said that the middle cylinder was sucking so that's why he had it apart, isn't it supposed to **** on a 3 cylinder single stage? He never hooked it up because he doesn't have 240v in his shop and the quote he got to run a wire was more than he wanted to deal with so he listed it instead of putting it back together.

Wow, whole lotta suckage this weekend guys!

Another Craftsman speed ratchet in the mix too!

Riley very nice 10 point set. Made by Wright as noted already in the other thread.

Ragtop I missed where you first mentioned the Blackhawk, but yes, sure could be a second or something. I'd love to see that one.

Twertsy very nice Snap On set. I don't mean to burst your bubble but the ratchet is not right, looks later man!

I went to a guy that does cleanouts that has a never ending sale, its mostly junk in the yard but sometimes he get a few descent items and he always wants rid of any and all quick. I got this Mac box and the few remnants for $60. I think the snap on wrenches are worth that and my GF has been bugging me for a box for her garage so its a win win situation. The box is not perfect but she really likes the the box and will clean it up her way and store all her tools.

Well, it worked out better than I thought it was going to. There was gasket blown out between the inner reed valve plate and the top plate. The compressor is fixed! :rocker:

It's not extra, per se. The two "balls" that are opposite each other on the drive stud fit into the detents in the socket, to keep it in the correct position. The one that is higher up is a spring-backed friction ball, to help hold it in place. It's not meant to fit into the holes in the socket, and won't. It just squeezes the socket with a little pressure on the wall of the socket. This was a 1920's era Snap-On design feature.

Wish I could find me a nice 60 or 80 gallon upright. So far everything is either way to small or way too big. And prices are always too damn high!

Definitely the SnapOn combination wrenches are the worth the $60 . .
. . . . BUT . . . looks like the flare wrenches are also SnapOn ??

If so, by all means you got smokin' deal worthy of YOU **** !!!

I was driving down our road this morning-everyone has junk out by the road for Garbage Day, which is Tuesday. In one pile is a small Craftsman bottom box-the one with two drawers and a big storage space in the bottom, covered by a door . It's an El Cheapo box, but it was in good shape, and into the back of my truck it went. I dropped it off at my cottage without taking a pic.

I can't tell you how long I have looked for an 80gal to fit my budget(of nothing$$) and when I saw this one I knew I had to take a chance. It was listed around 11:30 pm and was right at midnight before I saw it. I contacted him immediately and arranged to go see it the next day. If I had waited until morning, someone else would probably own it.

Also, I think you guys find all the good deals where you are but the sun does shine on a dogs *** every once and a while down here.

Flea market today, almost no tools. I picked this handful from 2 vendors.

DBE wrenches: craftsman, williams, Proto LA, Mac, and Thor X.
Set is a mix of Husky sockets and hinge handle. Extensions are Firestone and Mac. Ratchet and one socket are craftsman =V=.

I drove past a Cheapo Craftsman work table during bulk pickup a few years ago. I wavered too long and it was gone when I went back. Grab it when you see it - you can always send it back to the curb later.

Scored All this at the Portland international race way this weekend !!! All told I spent $95 !! 90 percent of this proto/plvmb or p&c !! Also has some snappy, Mac and craftsman ! Highlights include a mis stamped proto wrench , big plvmb dbe, p&c carb tool and metric wrench as well . I did not find a plvmb large tool box which I hoped to find

I drove past it last evening, while my wife was with me, and I stopped because I thought it was a Kennedy box-She's on my azz about getting rid of stuff, so I left it there. When I got in my truck this morning to go work on the cottage, I decided that if it was still there, I'd grab it and take it down to the lake. Hard to believe no one grabbed it, but I wasn't going to leave it for the garbagemen.

Nice find Marty......who gets to keep the tools?
