This weekend was nearly a total bust, only a couple decent things...

One thing I missed out on literally as I was around the corner I passed a truck that was leaving with the item I wanted...

Older Craftsman socket set, the one with the 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" drive, short / long, SAE / Metric... all in one big box... AND looks like a decent assortment of combo wrenches to go along with it... $60...

I didn't want to show up at these people's place too early and sit there waiting... In hind sight that's exactly what I should have done... lol.. Oh well, there will always be another... Missing out on this really bumed me out the rest of the day (that and the fact all the other sales this whole weekend were a bust)...

I've done the same, the ad was very stern about being there before the opening time only to get there a little early intending to just wait on the street, just to see guys hauling out handfuls of stuff:mad:.
Sometimes it's just a fine art on getting there.

Just a couple items bought today.

One was a little Wilton stationary bullet vise #930 with 6 46 date on bottom of slide. The other item a string winder.

Okay, so I posted above what I missed out on, and seemed to be about the only decent thing this weekend...

Here's a few things I did manage to find...

Several Mac & KD USA wrenches, they were .50 each...

Small Craftsman & Ace Hardware socket sets (from the guy that had the big craftsman set that I missed out on). Bought the pair for $10 total. Craftman is a 1/4" set, the Ace set has a 3/8" Cman ratchet, a deep thorsen socket, a couple cman sockets, and the rest are Ace Taiwan sockets. The little tray in the 3/8" box lifts out which is kind of cool.

Smith's sharpening stone, $3... Didn't really need it but after so many sales I just couldn't walk away empty handed for the day. I *think* the stone actually comes from somewhere here in Arkansas (plenty of rocks around for sure, lol).

Finally the only saving grace... Coleman Powermate pneumatic tool set, missing a few things but mostly complete. I believe this is a re-branded Cambell Hausfeld set. They are made in Taiwan, but I only paid $15 for it. :willy_nil None of the tools have been used, I know that because the connectors were not even hand tight on the ends! Ha! Been looking for an air ratchet for a while, the hammer is a nice bonus, die grinder with some stones & sanding disks, and I can't complain about a spare impact gun.

I went to an estate sale today that advertised Snap-On tools and actually delivered!

I picked up the smallest Snap-On wrenches that I've seen, including an 1/8-inch angle wrench, a 1/4" x 9/32" deep offset box end wrench and a 6mm ignition wrench.

IMG_0075.jpg

I also purchased an entire set of stubby metric combination wrenches:

IMG_0070.jpg

a Wright 3/8" speeder and breaker bar, and a Snap-On 1/2" breaker bar:
IMG_0073.jpg

and a set of Snap-On SAE flare nut wrenches

🎶A tisket, a tasket, I got me a goodie basket !🎶

100_2512.jpg

Went to the FM this morning for my weekly walk. Few vendors due to yesterday's rain. One tool vender, but his prices are generally higher than I want to pay, unless it's something I really need. No joy at the FM this week.

On the way home I stopped in at a GS that said they had tools. Got there an hour after they opened. I should have gone there first. Not sure what I missed out on. The guy was condensing his tools down to a mini "wall of Lista". Prices were good. Once my hands were full, I grabbed a small basket from his wife's offerings and filled it. I hadn't heard any pricing, so I was a little worried when I went to check out.
$20 - "Thank you Sir, may I have another !" :rocker:

In addition to the basket :
Chapman #6320 kit (missing 1 bit and extension(?) )
Proto #1308PD 8oz BP hammer
Proto #1308PD 8oz BP hammer (different production style)
Williams S-102P 1/2dr 2" socket ext.
Williams B-110 3/8dr 6" socket ext.
Bonney T-603 3/8dr 3" socket ext.
Williams #1166A 25/32" combo wrench
2 - Williams #1165 11/16" combo wrenches
Williams #1158 1/4" combo wrench
Williams #1020 DOE 5/16"-1/4" wrench
2 - Williams # 1721 3/8"-6/16" wrenches
Proto Professional #1210 5/16" combo wrench
Proto Professional #1211 11/32" combo wrench
Products Engineering Tools #5625 thread gauge (unused - still in original packaging)
Hargrave #3401/8" taper punch
WIHA #279 precision chip lifter
Hubble ground fault interupter
Pass & Seymour ground fault interupter
2 - unknown tools (Lutz file handles w/ knurled tool. One steel, the other Nylon or Delrin)
Master safety lockout lock w/key (for my tables)
2 - Hubbel 15a right angle plugs

Living vicariously through you guys for tools today (and mostly yesterday...) good scoring going on!

I went out to a couple places this am:

Two wood trees for cents 50 (for the hallway display) Copper measuring cups for a buck (Camp gear), The fork was in the free pile (Also camp gear) and the brush in an old school lipstick case was thrown in with the cups. I'll use that camping for dusting lenses off of the optics... The case will help keep it clean, and it even retracts to almost flush.

Anyone else have a resale pile that's growing rather than shrinking?

I'm in that club! I passed on a few things today at the antique fair that I felt wasn't worth picking up and going through until I went through the things I already have waiting.

With that said, the antique fair was on my birthday! All week it was in the 90's and hit 100 yesterday, but today had nice clouds, a breeze, and a cooler 76 degrees so I felt pretty good this morning going to the fair since Saturday was a bust. I guess the streak is still continuing on the good finds!

First half of the fair was pulling up nothing, started to get a little discouraged as not many vendors had showed up due to the heat of the past week until I hit the perfect stall!

Set of Greenlee Auger bits in the wrap, only missing the #4 auger bit (IF SOMEONE HAS ONE THAT THEY WANT TO SELL PM ME ) - $20

NOS Craftsman mortising chisels and adjustable auger bits, both larger and small - $5

Bunch of wrenches, I wanted the Plumb ones, lady took $3 for the bunch since thats all I had left after everything else!

Morgan 300A woodworking vise, I've been looking like this for a long time! - $20

And this beauty, that the GF "forcefully" insisted she pay for it as my birthday present :p

Metal parts cabinet with all of its dividers, finally a way to organize all my small junk! - $60

Kinda slow going for garage sales in my area. Lots of kids toys and little bikes, very slim on tools. And the few I've found so far are WAYYYYY overpriced. This will not deter me from my quest! OTTNO!

I never thought about using a metal plumbing pipe to replace a wooden handle. I have a new project now.

Those look Bavarian.

I Googled that and mostly got faces carved into tree trunks. What made you say that? Not disputing it, just trying to get the provenance.

The only markings and small pieces of masking tape on the back with the basic sizes on them; 4 X 19 and 3 X 16 - inches not metric so... :dunno:

No garage sales, but I found this set out for garbage tomorrow so I brought it home for the garage. Thought it was cool that it's military related!

Looking good guys! This thread is rolling along.

Ragtop I was reading quickly and thought you had been buying Plomb from the Amish now! :lol_hitti The word "Plombish" came to mind, and I began thinking too bad they can log on GJ. Glad I re-read that!

Scored all this for $15[emoji1] well that is kinda not true. I picked up the 1/3 hp mail box grinder for $15 off craigslist[emoji41] I have already replaced the wheels. It has some paint splatter on it but is in good shape. Went to my grandparents farm and scored this sweet Thor 1/4 hp bench grinder and this eutectic welder for free! The bench grinder still works but I will stash it for a resto later on! I don't know much about the welder. My grandfather said it worked until my uncle got a new one and he took the lead out for a new air compressor. Anybody know any thing about this welder/ brand?

Today I did some pretty decent flea market shopping but no pictures of the haul yet. It was supposed to be the big monthly flea but the weather prevented it. Still did alright among the regular vendors.

Also stopped in a couple of the antique shops and found these. The Snap On Ferret was 10 bucks, and the Billings &Spencer sign was 40 after a 20% discount. Funny I just clicked on a Billings thread and saw this sign I think, as member DOlsen's avatar.

G. What do you say? I know the confusion with these.

You mean what they stand for, or what's the difference between them? I don't think it really matters. Maybe E is "emergency" alloy restrictions and G is "government" contract, or maybe it's just E=1944 and G=1945. Either way, it's a WWII era tool that looks all original and decent shape. Nice scores.

I just mean the years. It does look like a '45 more than anything else. I thought maybe it was '39 at first.

I don't know anvils, BC, but I suspect that's a You **** price. In fact, with the other purchases listed the anvil, I'm pretty sure you earned a You **** for your Dunstable day.

Well done!

I'm taking your word that it's a G. I can't really see it from the photo. You're right that the 39s can look a lot like Gs, and for that matter, the 40s can, too, if they are struck heavier on one side than the other. I figured it was probably wartime because of the finish - looks like plain steel from the photo, though that finish was also offered in years outside the war, I think.

Nice Merit wrench. I had one years ago missing a jaw, and rather than look for a parts wrench I sold it as is

Sorry bout that. Silly tablet photos show up too small for some reason.

Tubing notcher for the drill press $15

Williams superwrench 1" DOE, +2 small craftsmen adjustable's for $2

new oak vanity with sink, all plumbing, valves, faucet, shutoff's, stainless lines, bought for a remodel but never used..all for $5...

2 homelite string trimmers for free...

My logic for many of the non-collectible tools I buy at sales. Well done on all those items, gungatim!

Why is it confusing? Snap-On's own date code charts shows they stand for 44/45:dunno:

I did see some idiot selling an "Emergency" (E coded) snap-on set on ebay though.........:lol_hitti

I bought one just like it with a different mount, but can't find any makers marks on it.

So, I just ran into a similar lamp at an antique store, and it had a label, which led me to find out more about my lamp. It's made by Art Specialty Co. More information in the vintage tools section.

Not sure if this belongs here, this is a Craigslist buy.

Harbor Freight tool grinder. HF used to sell these for around $100, then they stopped selling them. Now they're available from Grizzly for $295. I got this as pictured for $30.00.
