Not sure if this belongs here, this is a Craigslist buy.
Harbor Freight tool grinder. HF used to sell these for around $100, then they stopped selling them. Now they're available from Grizzly for $295. I got this as pictured for $30.00.
Nice score!![]()

Why is it confusing? Snap-On's own date code charts shows they stand for 44/45
I did see some idiot selling an "Emergency" (E coded) snap-on set on ebay though.........![]()

Pretty sure it's a "G"
While the drawings and the stamps can get a bit iffy you have to watch for the major character features, for which is which sometimes...
(how could I leave those), an older Williams curved wrench, unfinished/unmarked Williams 3/8" extension with no friction ball drilled! Orange Craftsman AND Bell System tools in the same post? What a day!

What's the significance of the Red/Clear (no blue) Craftsman screwdrivers? I have a phillips one like that but don't know anything about it.
I think its just "Flavor of the day" to try to get in the SO mode to satisfy more "wants", since if you think about it, how often does a person need to buy a replacement screwdriver?
Not sure really. Always thought they weren't special or anything, just a style that was made for a bit a decades ago in between the red blue/blue clear.![]()
The solid colored ones yes. Sears used to sell them real cheap in the stores too.

Smoke: well your Plvmb was originally found at a garage sale a while ago.
nice find and i'm glad to hear you like it more than you appeared to when i helped you load it in your rig. it should clean up nicely and isn't it nice to find these old PRE WWII boxes with most of their original equipment like the front and a key with a working lock? best of luck finding or making a couple slides and taking out a few dings in the drawers, but i'm sure i won't get a chance to buy it back. or will I?
ALL: stopped to pick up a vise and picked up a few extras while i was there. the vise is a Prentiss #5 that has 6 inch jaws and weighs about 130 pounds. i just saw on the main vise thread that a member posted a patent regarding Prentiss' removable jaws that was granted in 1911 so this vise pre dates that. other than a slightly bent handle, small chips of cast missing off the back of the swivel jaw and some vise grip marks on the pin that holds the swivel jaw in place, and maybe the serrations in the jaw are worn smooth this vise is in pretty decent shape.
i'm not sure what all the tools are that i picked out of a bucket so feel free to let me know if you see something you'd like to talk more about. the seller uses his 3/4 inch Proto L.A. ratchet and sockets for everyday use, but was willing to sell me his older Plvmb ratchet and it isn't any little thing.
Stopped at the Restore yesterday and got the following for $35.
- BIG Old Bench Grinder, Not sure on maker
- Craftsman Underline Wrenches and BE 1/2 Extension
- Walden Ratchet, PECK STOW AND WILCOX Adj, Square
- German Wire Wheel
- Klein Strippers
- Interesting Hammer
- Almost New Milwaukee Sheet Sander
So basically, you got a nearly half-price sander and everything else was free! Well done!
Oh, and if you're not attached to the PS&W adjustable, you might bring it to the June meet-up for swapping fodder. I don't have one of that brand...

Picked up this Snap On KR278B at the flea marked this past Sunday. I paid $60 and thought it was a fair price.

Anyone know what this MF in a square logo is? Massey Ferguson?
