Went to the yearly flea market on Friday and back this morning. Unfortunately I ended up with nothing but two repro tin signs to decorate the garage. No pictures of that. All the interesting tools were either way overpriced or in ****** shape.

Went to a bunch of YS's yesterday morning and did not end up with a lot of stuff, same reasoning as the FM.

1$ for the Channellock 558 hose clamp pliers.
The clamp was in the free box.

So I spotted a Estate sale listing that came up late Friday night and they said they had a heavy duty vise. I got there first thing Saturday morning before the sale started and was able to score this Wilton 1740 for $10.

She is a little rough but as I've seen here a hundred times I'm sure she will clean up just fine.
Being I still had sending money I hit a couple other stops to no avail, but I landed at this Estate tool sale and picked up this lot of stuff for another $10.

It includes a couple rolls of crocus cloth, a couple full cans of Tri Flow, A large brass Drift, a couple body hammers, a handful of craftsman punches, a Miller's Falls adjustable square, a 7/16" open/socket end Snap On wrench, A long skinny 1/2"x9/16" Proto wrench, a Collins Dynamicut Ball Peen that only weighsabout 3 Oz. (my littlest one yet), and a Craftsman impact driver. And there is a H.d. Homemade dust pan I was collecting everything in.

Next is a very cool old oiler that I had to have

Then a few ratchets not sure of the 1/4" drive guy, I suspect, Craftsman. And the 3/8" Williams superatchet just spins so I'll check that out, but the Palm Grip ratchet works great and is a first for me.

I can't seem to pass up any 4" or 6" crescent's so here is a 6" SK and a 4" Diamond Tool.

Your 1/4" ratchet is made by Plomb. The craftsman version of that ratchet has a very different handle. You might check to make sure it's not a 9/32" drive too. They are far more common than 1/4". If it's a 1/4", you get a second "you ****"

Today was not a great day but yielded a few ok deals. I visited the local swap meet and struck out, there was nothing but junk to be found. I hit one estate sale and picked up a plastic craftsman box for 2.50, 2 Snap On clutch bit drivers for .50 and a small Plano box for .25. On my way to visit a friend I saw a Sears hometown and decided to stop on a whim. They had a box of craftsman professional screwdrivers for $1.95 apiece so I picked up 2 awls, 2 long 1/8 flatheads, long and short T40 torx drivers, long and short T27 torx drivers and, a #2 phillips.

Had a good day at the flea market today

A vintage SK 1/4 socket set, $2, missing half of the sockets, now I have something to watch for.

A vintage Rockwell jig saw, $5 lots of power but the blades will cost more that I paid for the saw. LOL

2 SK 3/8 ratchets, $2
1 Berns-O-Matoc 3/8 ratchet, $1
A set of Craftsman line wrenches, $2
A Snap-on 1/4 extension, 50 sents
A set of Jorgenson wood clamps, brand new $3 ea.
A nice condition Eagle oiler, $1
A linesman hammer, $1
A little pin vice with a set of small drill bits stored in the handle. $1

Add to that 5 pipe wrenches 8" to 24". Ward's Master quality x 2, Plomb, P&C, and Ridgid.

$100 for all.

Turns out, he's had these listed for months at $300. He told me he had dozens of calls from as far away as Utah, but no one ever showed up (he's a bit rural). He dropped the price yesterday just to make them disappear. I'm happy to oblige

Just the 2" wrench can sell for more than $100 by itself.
AND, they're all pre-SnapOn, so they should all be longer that the modern offerings.

Great finds guys! I slipped out for a couple and came home with a Camelus survival knife. the sheath is Very dry (one strap end just snapped right off...) so it will get a soak with Neatsfoot oil to see if there is any life left...

Pic of the Camelus Survival knife as promised. I put it up next to another one I bought several years back that some Nimrod had broke off the tip off of. I reground the tip and gave it a gut hook, and apparently sharpened it as it has an edge like a razor!

I decided to put this project knife into my camp/hunt gear and see how it does in use.

Scored this 5196 craftsman yesterday off Craigslist after a tip from my buddy rileysan! It is a 4" and is built like a tank! I had never seen one before I bought this one but they certainly deserve their elite reputation! Scored it for $125 in a near by town!

It's been a while since I've had anything worth while to post.

The Workmate (Type 2) (photos 1 &2) was through craigslist and the small hand plane (photo 3) was at a garage sale. Hit up 3 garage sales on one street...all overpriced. This plane was the only thing worth buying.

$25 total.

No idea who made the plane yet. I hope to find some info after cleaning it up a bit.

Spray some oil on the shaft of that motor so that it will run inside and let it set, then try and break it loose.

Also, take the outer blade guard off and make sure it spins freely...

Finally had time to mess with. I oiled the two yellow oil fills, spun the fan some, it wasn't as tight asi thought, a little spray lube on the shaft wher I could hit it, hand spun some more and plugged it in. After a initial groan, it came to life.

I ran it all afternoon and it's fine.

They are short little guys for bolting on copper jaws to the jaws...I was not real stoked but they are very shallow. I already have a smooth jaw columbian for anything that needs to be non marred.

Ohh, they are slotted screws? That explains it. All in all, not a bad modification- as long as they are in a straight line! My OCD tolerates useful modifications, but not slap dash work, hehe. Not bad at all. Thumbs up!

A while back I posted this 4oz Bonney softface hammer. Today I decided to refinish it. I used rattlecan "orange" to spray the head. The new color is just a tad paler than the more intense original seen on the end with no tip. Outlaw had pointed out that replacement tips go up on eBay, but after searching and never seeing the size (93A for this one and 95A for two more) and further not liking the prices for the ubiquitous 94A, I decided to take a pass at making my own. I had picked up a scruffy, bent chisel that happened to have a cylindrical handle. From the piney smell, I think it's that old celluloid material. I used a tubing cutter to score my line. Then a mini hacksaw to cut it, and an eggbeater/hurdy-gurdy to drill out the hole. First try was too loose, second too tight. I reamed it out a little with a file, and pressed it on the head in my vise. Viola!

Edit: tested a leftover piece of the celluloid with a grill lighter - immediate ignition! Best not to use this stuff around high heat or flame. From what I read online, this is typical 1920-1950 handle material. I'll look for something more modern for the other hammer faces.
