Here's my take from a few weeks ago.

The Huot still has a decent amount of bits in it.

Another Diamond and Channel lok.

Can't pass up a good forged c clamp.

Thanks, fellas! I looked around for the planer manual but couldn't find it. I'm sure, as organized and labeled as everything else was, the manual was around at the beginning of the sale. Who knows what happened yesterday in the melee of Day 1. No matter--there's a guy on eBay selling reproductions. It'll be in my mailbox by Friday.

Nice find on the planer. Just a heads up if you didn't know Foley-Belsaw made that planer for Craftsman here is a link to the manual. http://www.vintagemachinery.org/pubs/detail.aspx?id=4447

I'm out in Colorado Springs this week, looking for a score in my down time. My only prospect is a Heritage-badged Craftsman vise on Offer up. Waiting on a response.

Ragtop, cool Blackhawk wrench find!

thanks! I thought what in the world?!?!?! funny thing is, in the tool box I got that still needed to be sorted, there was a MAC crow foot the same way! That tool box so far has given up a bunch of Proto and MAC chisels, punches, and Crowsfeet! haven't gotten to the wrenches yet!

Not a garage sale per se, but rather an on-line auction.
This lot was close by, and after studying the photos that were posted, I decided to bid. Surprisingly, I didn't encounter much competition and got the high bid for $35 + tax and fees. A little over $38 out the door.
- 8 pairs of Stronghand welding magnets. 4 were still on the cards.
-63 assorted heim joints. 1/4 to 5/8 inch, male and female, LH and RH threads. Some were still in the factory bags.
-at least 100 assorted thin jam nuts, both LH and RH.
-several small bags full of small size pan head bolts with either regular nuts, nyloc nuts, or wing nuts
- red Acro Mills bin.
-2 gray tubs
-5 large grinding stones
-3 large wire wheels
-a 4" diamond cutting blade in package
-5 bolts 1/2" by 4 or 5"
-Bag full of lag bolts and washers. various sizes.
-handful of pop rivets.

Nice variety of stuff and a decent price.

Had to at least look for a few things while in Vegas this week. Ended up at an antique mall and I picked up two old micrometers in the box - paid $25 for the pair, but at least it's money I didn't lose gambling. A little Starret and a Lufkin, not as vintage as I like, but the embossed boxes were cool, the paperwork was their, the adjusting wrenches, the calibration pieces, and the starret had a cool ball attachment in the original envelope.

Sweet finds, duddly, especially with the adjusting tools, the paperwork, and original boxes.

This morning's Early Brid flea market haul...

WWII Armorer's M5 chest, Ordnance Dept part number D28243. These were used to carry tools and repair parts for the M191 Browning .30 cal MG. I have a few of them - but this is the first one I've found with the removable tray intact. The leather handle will need replacing. Other than that and some light rust around the bottom seam, this one is in great shape.

Complete figure (3/16") and number (1/4") punch sets in dove-tail joint boxes, all made by MATTHEWS. Looking vintage 40's to me, but I have to do some research to confirm.

A '15 Cornwell MADE IN USA EW 12' 3/8 x 7/16 DOE wrench and a few misc 1/2-inch drive sockets (SK, None Better, Crafty (H))

No idea what the other thing is. Looks like something may have snapped off on th elower part, inside the collar. And it screwed into something else. Part number 512. No other markings. I only picked it up out of curiosity, and I liked the antique thumbscrew.

Anyone ever see one of these old things? It actually works, but it's only good for cutting thin balsa wood.

Syncro Model 800 Jig Saw. From Oxford Michigan. I think it's from the 50s or 60s

This wasn't exactly a garage sale find so much as a pre-garage sale find from someone I know.

I know it says jig saw, but it's actually a scroll saw.

Not many people quote Oxford Michigan. I lived in Oxford till I was 11. The Syncro plant was on the other side of M-24 not far from us. Pretty easy Oxford only had a few thousand people.
Here's a good link to check out.
Here's another one.

I had a Sears branded one when I was a kid. It was the first power tool my dad bought for me.

Having a garage sale myself tomorrow, for any folks in Louisiana. Hoping to clear out some space so that maybe, just maybe...I'll get back out looking for more.

Thanks, duddly. Me too, though I am a little leery of the "Safe Hed" marking. It's a brand, not a OSHA warning, like the ubiquitous "ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GOGGLES" that are a dead giveaway on post-1970 chisels, but still, I am leery.

Not to take up too much space deep diving here on this, but I did find out that MATTHEWS has been making figure stamps for 160 years! They started as Joseph Matthews Company and now they're called Matthews Markings Systems (because they do laser marking, electronic marking and RF tags and all kinds of high tech stuff now...), still located in Pittsburgh.

Letter and number figure punch sets in various sizes were part of several WWII kits…

1945 Army Manual

1944 Navy Class 41 Catalog

…and I own quite a few, in very similar wooden boxes, but these are the first that I have found that were marked/branded on the punches themselves.

Matthews had several WWII contracts with the Army and Navy, which I am excited about.

I also scored one of these helping another with a garage sale. Would anyone know what type of battery this would sit on, or have I got this all wrong?

... and is that meant to string through your belt?

I'd like a shot of the inside. It might be an oilier too. But that was my first reaction also. If it is a Fire sprinkler, I don';t think it will be glass?

Two pieces soldered together with low temp solder, and the screw clamps a seat into the end of the pipe part. When the temp pass the melting point of the low temp solder the "block" falls apart and water flows. I'm not seeing a water diffuser though. :dunno:

I had a Sears branded one when I was a kid. It was the first power tool my dad bought for me.

I got my son one of those from a buddy, also his first power tool. He still has it somewhere...

Out for a walk after dinner, came upon the remains of a garage sale with a "free / take some" sign. Had to walk home to get my truck. Picked up two roller stands:

d50b878f4ed6d60efb731c701723b924.jpg

And some bits and pieces from a box of random junk:

90028fa0d1b8bd0c7fec060832b54329.jpg

3 1/2" brick chisel, the handle from what I think is a gun cleaning rod (nice bit of aluminum rod with one end threaded), sphygmomanometer that seems to work, a couple a hoses, a switch that might be useful, and a big sealed bearing.

Passed on a Vermont router table, incomplete. Looked useful, but I don't need it, and don't want to store it. Somebody else can snag it.

You've got to be kidding! Suddenly the highly sought after Craftsman is an everyday item around here?

I saw someone post a long time ago asking why do they sell for so much when they aren't that rare? I'm not sure but I think maybe it was Snapmom in fact. It's true there are literally a handful of them on eBay on any given day. Still, it's the cool factor!

Nice finds.

Finally got around to posting these that I scored at the habitat for humanity! I was pretty stoked about the right angle drill head and the huge drill bit... Paid less than $15 for everything! The channel locks I drove by in the street... My ever keen tool eye said "channel locks" and I came back later and dodged traffic to get them[emoji51]

Also scored this super cool 2 drawer pressteel lower roller that looks like a plomb tool mobile for $25 off craigslist[emoji108]
