Was at a yard sale this morning and a fellow asked if I was one that normally ask about vises.

Told him I was and he said there was a decent looking vise at another yard sale he had been to earlier, then gave me that location.

So, went down and the vise was a for a drill press and was an import.

While there, looked and saw they had a Dazor Magnifier Floating Fixture Clamp-on light (M-1400). With owner permission, plugged it in and pushed and held the button, which would light the round ring up partially, but not fully and would not stay lit. Owner said he'd sell it for a $1.

When went to pay at little table for the Dazor light, there sat a Wilton Powrarm Junior from Schiller Park IL on the table. Was like a kid who just discovered horse manure and was now looking for the pony. Unfortunately, no Wilton Baby bullet.

Pic 4 shows rest of items today, which was the Dazor M-1400, Heller File, Stanley Chisel, New Garden Treasurers fountain pump and pump prefilter and a bunch of old towels in pic 5 that I use for garage rags.

Looks like with Jakemac posting, that these things must be falling like rain today.

Mike

Picked up a 5 drawer Craftsman rolling cabinet for $20 filled with a mix of tools from some nameless Taiwan wrenches to air tools, a RotoZip, heat gun, a Stanley screwdrivers, drill bits, pipewrench, Xcelite nut driver set, better wrenches including a Snap On, Mac, Matco and some Craftsman, 3 Knipex, drill bits and few pairs of pliers. The guy also tossed in a bag of rusty sockets and hex bit he was going to throw out. That bag had several Mac, 4 Snap On, a few SK, and Craftsman plus a pile of cheap sockets. I also got 8 new DeWalt reciprocating saw blades for $10. 3148d3fc0a9b705795518ff11e54be68.jpg

Too funny. I don't believe in all that synchronicity mumbo jumbo (it is just a coincidence), but it is interesting how the thread "goes on runs" as Outlaw would say. So who's next for a Power Arm Jr?

So we're finally off the Craftsman speed ratchet run? :lol_hitti

Jake and Mike, what did you guys start?

JV- nicely done! You **** price. The box alone...

So we went to a "Warehouse Sale" a few towns over this AM. Turns out they are involved in the shipping business and they are selling "unclaimed freight" items.

They had lots of stuff that I didn't need and then saw something of interest. I wavered and ended up buying 2 Wiremold UL2065BD outlet strips for $10.00 each. They are 72" long power strips with 24 outlets and a 15' cord.

Rated at 120V - 15A which is good to have lots of outlets along a bench or something. I'm sure I'll find a home for them.

Jim

Hit garage sale #2 of the day...not much at this one, mostly vintage housewares, but I got a couple items.

Tool box is an Umco from Watertown, Minn. It has misc small hardware and fuses. Made of aluminum and very light. Model 101A

2 Wright combos, 1-1/16 and 1-1/8, both need some cleaning.

$4

Went to a few estate sales today. Never fun when they advertise lots of antique tools and only have a single beat up miter saw and box for $90. Supposedly the rest sold yesterday morning. The last sale had mainly glassware and antiques. However, I did rescue a few wrenches, drill bits, Allen wrenches, hammer head, ignition tools, two small clamps and hardware for $5. Most of it was sitting outside in a bucket filled with rain from the last two days.

My other find for the day was a box of books. A coworker had asked me to go through a few boxes of books from his in-laws to see if any of them were worth a bunch of money. It was a mix of scientific and education books from the 1920s, mostly worth a couple of bucks with a few $10 - $15 and some Audels Guides. Later he asked if I wanted the leftovers which I did. Finally got around to the box out today and he gave me all of the Audels Guides and the Petroleum Production and Practical Electroplating books I was most interested in.

I had 1 good stop today. Found a plomb 1/2" ratchet, a bunch of plomb wrenches, some =v= craftsman, some misc. wrenches, and a circle u craftsman breaker bar. I read these are made by plomb during ww2?
I spent 24 bucks, but I really wanted that plomb stuff.

Had a good day at sales today.

First stop picked up some consumables. I rarely buy consumables at retail price.

11ebb9126389f9f3cde4bad181e6f4de.jpg

Plus a few tools including starrett drill and wire gauges, bonney extractor set, Mini huot index, camco knife and Stanley drill countersink set.

c93707c51c5142349c5d86ad3e452607.jpg

Total for first sale $10 (they asked $15 I countered with 10)

Then off to see an arbor press I found overnight on cl. It was in the Business section. I’ve had a few great buys from that section.

0391a9908e18530d2a2bcd27a51f17ab.jpg

Dake 01 press on very heavy stand. Paid asking price of $75. I noticed a bullet vise and asked if it was for sale (it wasn’t) but he remembered he had another vise for sale somewhere. After digging he pulled these out.

Columbia Gyro Vise. $40

Panavise $20

4 jaw chuck $30

Then off to a sale in its second day that had some promising photos online. Estate sale company is a no haggle one so it’s better to skip day 1 anyway.

Various pullers and accessories (snap on, craftsman)
ab14e978dfd518351d177f5d421505b0.jpg

Some pony pipe clamps, cutting board oil, Lufkin protractor, snap on screwdriver, snap on chisel holder and two other snapon tools that I don’t know what they do (DHP-8), Irwin drill.

30f13bc9db63c933d83d4a1052a62e47.jpg

Paid asking price of $25

Then off to garage of same house. Two old car batteries (for scrapping) and a Sun Electric Charger (working) all for $10

0d52ee0fc874a2b8f42b699ca43ba443.jpg

Last sale of the day was a machine shop in a basement with woodworking tools too. Many overpriced items but I found a Square D NEMA 1 starter (unused in box). They were asking $15 and accepted $10.

36acc1ea2ab878c0639587b0c4c3c126.jpg

I was eyeing a belt sander and decided to make an offer of $200 ($385 asking price)

c9bbc2869215ef0dcd7ef3d40d4bcb2d.jpg

Thy countered with $250 and I quickly grabbed two “bucket heaters” to make a bundle and came back with $250 for sander plus the heaters and they accepted.

7c8a21e9f6d6046a2331190be17e3a45.jpg

Sander also included a box of belts and discs. It’s a Delta model 52-611 6x48 belt and 12” disc. 1-1/2hp motor wired for 220 but can also work 110v

Did I mention this was in the basement and the owner made a custom base of 1/4” steel with heavy casters? Base alone was 100lbs! Took 3 of us to get up the bilco steps then we rolled to truck and got it inside.

11ab4021478c77692d257ac76f94ef14.jpg

To unload I had to remove base and motor and was able to handle each piece alone.

Well, it isn't a Powerarm, but that Panavise may qualify as the third shoe if nothing shows up tomorrow. Nice find on the GyroVise, Dake, and sander.

No Powerarm for me either, but my day was full.

First stop of the day was an estate with the title "Huge digger's sale" and a description of "BRING BUCKETS & FLASHLIGHTS - having issues in the shop".

It ended up being my only stop of the day which makes it my kind of sale :)

The amount of stuff I brought home was a bit overwhelming. I filled the passenger floor of my car level with the seat, put stuff in trunk and back seat, and still had to leave and come back with the Suburban.

First pick is a teaser only. I filled a 5-gallon bucket with Proto, Plomb, P&C, S-K, Snap-on, MAC, Craftsman, and much much more for $30. That's ~100lbs of vintage American made tools for $.33/lb. Most of that stuff is still in the car. I'll unload and take stock of everything tomorrow.

I went back with the Suburban to pick up my new Hein-Werner 4 Ton jack that cost me $65. I tested it on the Suburban and it works fine, but it does need a seal kit as it slowly leaks down.

Also pictured is an interesting Van Dorn 1/2 HP, 8" buffer/grinder. I haven't tested it yet as it needs a new plug, but the bearings have no play and the wiring underneath looks fine. Paid $10.

Brian

Picked this Wilton off offer up. I'd actually went to pick up a larger vise, then he showed me this one. Had to have it. I think it's missing the regular jaws, has pipe jaws in it now.

Probably not the deal of the day, but I saw this old toolbox at a flea market and had to have it. $45 including the drill, extension, and bit. It's much larger than it looks in the pictures and very heavy empty - I'm going to use it for my spare tool kit in the car.630ba0e8cb26474f03289a4d3e1cde7e.jpg1e4ae840007db222253cd1a6faa9a466.jpg

Picked this Wilton off offer up. I'd actually went to pick up a larger vise, then he showed me this one. Had to have it. I think it's missing the regular jaws, has pipe jaws in it now.

I have one of those. Handy vise to have, but I'm afraid to crank on it too hard.

I love my flip-grip for light use. I had picked up a set of these soft jaws when they were cheaper through enco. It may be easier to find a set to epoxy or permanently mount for yours though..

Like always lately I am a week behind. Hit a few sales a week ago Friday.

1st one was widow selling some of her husband's tools. I paid $36 including some household stuff I didn't take pictures of.

Pic 1: Air tank and Stanley Mobile work Center

Pic 2: The Craftsman stuff. New in box 3 drawer tool box, Crown label dial caliper, Made In England small machinists square and a few other items. The pliers are Fuller.

Pic 3: Mityuto dial caliper, some Starrett stuff and a few other things.

Went to another sale that started the week prior so most of the good stuff was gone but still found a few items. spent $7.50

Pic 4: Cal Custom air cleaner, air tool oil, Fuller knife, Craftsman table saw handbook and a small brown metal box.

So the third sale I went to a week ago was an estate sale in the country. Pictures looked good and it started at 10 so I had plenty o time to get there. And there was stuff everywhere! It took me 3 hours to go through the shop, lean to's , back yard and small buildings. Spent $75 total, most small stuff was not marked and the guy setting prices would just look at it and make it a bundle price. Not much for wrenches and sockets and stuff, the family must have taken them already.

Pic 1, 2, 3: Craftsman 6" planer, scroll saw and Companion drill press. It was fun getting these loaded in the Excursion.

Pic 4: On of the good "pickers" from a medical supply company, so much better than the cheap ones. Several yard sticks, True Temper Kelly Perfect double bit axe and a pair of USA made sliding bar clamps.

Pic 5: Ammo can, number punches, distributer wrenches, hold down clamps, Husky speed handle, Cal Van thread chasers, Starrett punch and tachometer, hole punches and tire tread depth gauge.

Pic 6: Oil can full of numbered drill bits, old tape measure, saw set, magnetic pick up tool, brass punch, hatchet that can be turned into a saw, Mac trim tool.

Pic 7: "Claw" garden tool, Eveready flashlight, yellow old toy fire truck, Six Flags whip, Stanley square and sliding square.

YS, Flea, Estate Sale, and finally a TOO ys.

The first YS yielded some Rockler 2-1/2" dust collection fittings for $7.

100_2658.jpg

The Flea Market was a bust. There was a lot of SnapOn, but it was all overpriced for my liking. (I'm not paying $5/socket)

The Estate Sale had nothing.

The TOO turned out to be at my nephew's old preschool teacher's house. So I got stuck talking about kids for half an hour (I don't have any). I see her every day when I pick him up at school. The whole time my brain was screaming HELP! .

Just to get out of there, I grabbed a pair of 24" alum. outlet cases for $3.
They may come in useful someday when I finish out the benchwork in my shop.

One last pic from the big estate sale above.

Freeze thermometer, old candy tin can, parts cleaning brush, Tidewater (oil company) first aid kit and a couple of C-clamps.

And then I headed out and stopped at a truck stop for drink and a snack. Ran into a guy I knew who was going to an old car salvage yard I had never heard of. Tagged along and snapped some pictures. Enjoy!

Very nice haul 3bay, like the little Williams ratchet and only $50 for that brand new Armstrong wrench set is a steal especially from a flea.

Haven't been out much due to work and cleanup from the storm.
Went to sale a lady was selling off what was left of her husbands tools.
SO battery charger, been wanting a decent shop charger and I think this one will fit the bill. $30.

Wow, nicely done cbacres. Would love just to have the opportunity to dig through a sale like that whether I bought any or not. I agree those are the best sales ! always at least want a chance to look over all the goods.
