Rag, I was about to congratulate you on the Firestone bike until I read on! A lot of you guys have posted some cool items that were a bit out of reach price wise. I tend to take pictures once in a while of cool things I could not buy too.

Usually these pictures aren't worth sharing because my phone *****.

Here I had to take photos of photos. I know, it's almost a sin. Can't even post from the phone.

Just wanted to show this neat Kennedy box I saw months ago at a flea market. A bit too pricey. I was surprised to see something other than plain shelves.

I had never noticed one like it before. There is advertising for the Saturday Evening Post, and Mule Kick Beauty Creme (by J.A. Sexauer Mfg. Co. Inc.).

Sexauer is a name some may recognize in the plumbing world. I see the name on plumbing tools sometimes.

Anyhow, this oddly named Mule Kick Beauty Creme with cool graphics in the tool box was a bathroom/kitchen polish.

Example here:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Jar-Mule-Kick-Creme-Polish-Beauty-Treatment-J-A-Sexauer-Mfg-Co-NY-/221050415570

Not sure how common these boxes are, but another Sexauer advertising Kennedy seen here:

https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/kennedy-kits-sexauer-mule-kick-133907958

A few lousy pics of the Kennedy Kits box with advertising I saw:

I have seen a lot of hip box cantilevered toolboxes over the years, but never one with advertising on it like that. Very cool. I wonder if it was just Kennedy or whether others (e.g., Simonsen) did the same.

Nice Rem! Is that an 1100 LT-20? Is it 2-3/4 or 3” chamber?
I’d sure like to know the lyrics to that song...maybe “you ****!”

11-87 Premier... Will shoot up to 3"...

It matches the 12ga 11-87 Premier I found last year at a sale that also had less than a box of shells put through it. :) I'll try to take a picture of the pair one of these days. Can't believe I found two that matched like that and both near mint. Maybe my luck will hold out and I'll find a .410 one of these days... lol.

My neighbor and I got to that sale maybe 15min after they opened and there were already half a dozen cars there. I walked up to the garage and saw the Wilton, which I immediately took and told the guy that worked there I wanted it and set it aside, then walked inside to check out the guns. There were some other rifles, but I'm not a hunter or an antique collector so these were really the only two that I was interested in.

Even after setting the guns aside from all the others and putting behind the cashier's table people STILL kept sneaking over and fondling them... *sigh* Thankfully I know the owners of the estate sale company and he came and got me so we could finalize everything and I could get them out of there before too many hands touched them... lol.

Forgot to post up these two instruments that I got for a song...

Ruger .17 HMR that doesn't look like it has been shot.

Remington 20ga with a spare rifled barrel, also doesn't look like it has been shot... lol

I keep telling myself I'm going to go to the range one of these days...

I had never heard of the .17 HMR before, pretty interesting after Googleing it.

Yeah, same here. That's why I had to get pictures. That Worthpoint box advertises Blue Spot Balloon Tank Bulbs, apparently a device for leaky toilets. I wonder if the boxes were supposed to aid in selling these products to customers while the plumber was on a house call. Also wonder how the boxes were issued.

You want a real oddball with some potential look up .30-.378 weatherby rounds. It's what I use during deer season. Though admittedly, not many people take a 300+ yard shot as I do.

I visited the recycling yard today to drop off some aluminum cans and some lead acid batteries. Found a big 'ol Columbian No 1525 drill press vise just waiting to be brought home. :dunno:

28# Columbian vise at $0.50 per # cost me $14
I got $12.50 in batteries and $1.25 in aluminum.
Net cost was $0.25:rocker:

Going to put this back to work along with the vintage Delta 17" DP I bought 2 weeks ago.

Wildcats rounds are kinda fun. I hunt with a single shot Thompson Contender in 7MM-TCU. essentially a .233 necked out to 7MM, fire formed to blow the shoulder out to 45 degrees, and then case trimmed to length. THEN you are ready to load for real! >2200 FPS at the muzzle with my load and shoots inside an inch at 100 Yds.

I shoot a rifle that my father found at a garage sale years ago, a Martini Enfield in .303 Epps improved. Never found a shooter that pointed so well.

Forgot to post last weeks pics, so here goes:

Wizard chain wrench, Snap On t-bar, Cleaning kit, Channelock fencing pliers and a cool little swiss file holder. I think $12 for everything.

Then on Sunday went to an antique show in Portland, spending too much, but here is what I got, tool wise:

$20 for the two planes on a Stanley 26 the other a Sargent. The Starrett 124 was twenty also, both deals due to last day afternoon pricing. Also splurged and picked this up for $32:

Yes, I spent too much, but it was a nice day looking at a lot of cool stuff (non-tools)

Yes they are! How many loads are you getting with that brass after so much stretch?

I had to start reloading because $140 for a box of 20 was insanity. Still comes out to about $3 a round though. I picked up a .270 Mashburn and have to fire form .270 wby mags through it to get brass to reload. It is basically closer to a necked down .300 H&H than a .270 wby mag. I guess you could call it a further wildcatted version of a wildcat cartridge?? Sure spits a fireball though. And a 1.5lb trigger is damn near scary.

Nicely done Ecotec.

I went to three garage sales today! You guys know I don't go to too many actual garage sales.

One was my TOO. Can't believe I just said TOO! There were a number of tools and interesting items. The other two sales were along the way, and full of the usual household shmutz.

Anyway, I was happy with the haul. $4 for the following:

Combo wrenches- Wright, Proto, Caterpillar (1991 or 2001 date code), Vulcan/Williams dual marked
attachment.php

Walden Worcester 1/4 drive Spintite
Snap On 1/4 drive 40's era spinner

Snap on socket -1928 date

Wright -Barberton era socket

Lastly,

Craftsman oldie bit screwdriver- The end cap is from a fitting and I found it in a separate box. Same exact threads go figure. Seller threw the cap in free with the Wright socket.

I swear, you guys are bad for my wallet....

Went to a sale today and spent $20....
Wound up with everything pictured and a large wavy glass front display cabinet. Anyone recognize the ratchets and tire gauge?

The unmarked ratchet was made by Duro/Indestro. I'm not sure what brand it was sold under. The Craftsman was made by Plomb. Those old gauges are always neat looking, they had some style to them.

Thanks for the info 3bay! You are one of the ones I have said "if they haven't seen it, it didn't exist!"

And here is that display I mentioned in my post.

They thought it was broken because the door was off. I started loading it and what did I find tacked to the bottom? A paper envelope with the brass hinges and screws! A little oil and she looks good now. Front is wavy glass that's bubbled on the edges.

SP nice cabinet score!

Kayak, you need to post that one in the Workmate thread!

SS looks to be some nice stuff there.

Winter is coming, and we caught a tiny bit of drizzle. Enough to kill most of the yard sales and the HS Flea market off...

I did get to one family run estate sale. "Come and make offers!" :pimpflash

The tool boxes were "all or nothing" for a Kennedy 520 top and a mechanics bottom and a Craftsman Top and bottom with nothing I was excited about inside. So I rummaged the bench, drawers and shelves and came up with this and offered $5. It was accepted.

Not shown was a can of Coleman fuel with not quite a quart of fuel in it. The "rod" is a 3 ft 3/8 extension, and the aluminum pot was picked up to carry my stuff as much as anything else. I had Hops it was a fit to my mini Weber kettle to make a smoker, but too small,

It was a sign week and a Motorcraft week for me this week as I've been cruising CL ads. Everything has received its necessary washing with Simple Green and is ready for use/display.

First find actually came from last week was this 7 ft long Motorcraft old dealer sign. I have some new aluminum edging to install then it gets hung in the new garage.
attachment.php

Another ad produced this 40" x 40" metal Napa store sign. It will get a frame made to provide some structure and also hung up in the garage.
attachment.php

Last item from a CL ad were these Motorcraft storage cabinets. The top cabinet nests onto the bottom part which has casters to roll to around so that makes it perfect for me as I want movable storage. This will make great parts storage and fits my garage theme.

Big Man Cave Estate Sale started yesterday but really needed to be at work all day yesterday so only option was to hit it early today. Quite picked over judging from the photo's that were posted of the sale. Was able to grab an essentially unused Armstrong 5 piece flare nut wrench set missing a wrench or so we thought. Probably was still sitting there because of the one empty pocket. Searched for the straggler wrench but couldn't find it and since it was 50% day and I pointed out the missing a wrench they said $10.

Get home and google the wrench set and lo and behold the set is complete but it seems at one time Armstrong shipped the sets with 6 pocket rolls thus the set looks incomplete.

Kayakranger I wish my Workmates looked that good, great score!

Sunset Z28 that's a nice little assortment for the money.

rmalkow2 the Ford Motorcraft sign and cabinets made me drool a bit!

WNYflyer good score on the Armstrong wrenches and roll.

Outlawmws that index is very cool!

Today I went back to the same sale as yesterday (couldn't leave well enough alone). I consider these tools, just tools for people who make a far better living than I do! Lol

All totaled I spent $150.

Wound up getting a bankers desk because I accidentally broke the glass top to my wife's desk. So it was the " I'm sorry I F'd up" gift.
Got a couple leather art folios and the decanter which has a
metric **** ton, <-- scientific unit, of bubbles in the glass. It's also purple w/ hand blown cut marks on all the pieces.

Picked up the leather jewelry box and the vinyl also. But, I'm clueless when it comes to vinyl so I'm not even sure what to do with it lol.

The I-pod nano was new in the case and fell from between the top drawers of the desk when I got it inside and started cleaning it. So, guess I have shop tunes now!

Stopped by one sale today, listed on EstateSales.net as having lots of tools and equipment. Sadly it was all picked over and mostly old/junky. I did manage to buy a few books for a grand total of $1.25 - will post a pic later.

From a private estate sale last weekend.

400 new carbide inserts, 266 US HSS drill bits, four NIB Starrett items. From a few business cards in the box, it was evident that the deceased was a sales rep on the inserts and bits. Propane tips, T50 stapler, Craftsman rivet gun, carbide abrasive hacksaw blade, four safety glasses. A small gun cabinet and then the most useful item to me: A like-new Debourgh 3'x2'x6' cabinet. Powder coated, 16 ga steel (with 1/8" angle corners), six double-reinforced shelves, rated for 1,000 lbs (but would hold two). Yes it's Smurf blue. Who cares? I can put a thousand pounds of stuff in it! $170 for everything.

Second weekend in a row I came home with something totally out of character for me, and it’s another modern, chrome-plated socket set. This time, a complete Challenger midget (1/4- and 3/8-inch drive) set. I’m going to need someone else to date/identify it more definitively.

In the heavy cardboard box (riveted corners) underneath that is a complete Armstrong No. 2 stock and dies set, six (6) dies 1/8” to 1”. It even has the original wrench to turn the adjusting bolts in the stock, also marked Armstrong No 2. The only thing missing from this set, which appears to be lightly to unused, is the box for the 1” split dies. They were tied together with twine.

Everything else, loosely left to right, top to bottom, is B&S 11” auto wrench model G, TRUTH socket, Red Devil Jak-Knife utility knife, Bonney standard 2” jaws clamp vise (RagTop454 – are you reading?), big *** antique Bonney wrench, and Bonney ball-pein, Cornwell obstruction wrenches, Snap-On, Blue-Point, and Herbrand DBEs, Vlchek 28-S early war DOE, 6” Erie Pipemaster HD pipe wrench, Dunlop MADE IN ENGLAND motorcycle tire spoons, antique era “VLCHEK” combination wrench (looking Ford-like, main bearing, connecting rod, etc), and a pair of halfmoon wrenches - a wartime Duro-Chrome and a pre-war Indestro.

I’ll try to post a few more photos later.

Like others have said, that New Process drill bit holder is great.

Looks like they started around 1880, but not sure when the company ended production.
