I told him his $750 in loose tools, even with a free toolbox wouldn’t fit in his Prius. Thankfully the tool box also came with a carrying case. 1990 F150 4x4 XLT Lariat. I think he did alright for $750, after following him home...now the **** part of it, I had to drive the Prius back to his shop!

Pics 1&2 I was thinking, "That poor guy got ripped, and you're a horrible friend."

Pic 3 I thought, "Ok - job box, maybe there's some gems in the first pics, but still....

Pic 4 "You ****!"

Well played.

Well played.

There’s a worm drive skil saw, a Milwaukee hammer drill, porter cable grinder/sawzall/drill/air nailer/air stapler/big air nailer/ oscillating tool, Bosch oscillating tool, Makita impact driver, ridged oscillating tool, the job site skil table saw, and all the bits, hardware, hand tools, chalk lines, Door jigs, levels and c clamps to be on a job. He was joking that he got the instant contractor kit, which he likely did.

I felt sort of bad about the guy who lost all this but then he hadn’t paid his registration or 4K in tickets, so he knew what was coming. If you’ve got that many tickets and leave your tools in your truck on a street, you shouldn’t be surprised it gets impounded.

If you fail to pick your personal belongings from the impound lot after doing all of the above I can’t feel bad for you.

@BFBOB, those DOE unbranded wrenches are probably made by SK, based on the flare in the shank near the ends and the FORGED IN USA markings. I have a fairly complete set of combos that are marked the same way and are identical to SK's without the markings.

The rest of the Pics are from an estate sale in one of the wealthier towns by me. Not a tool, but I've been looking for a decent mid-century desk for a couple years, and I finally saw this one buried in one of those horrible estate sales pics. So I figured I may have a shot at it. I got to the sale about 10 minutes after opening, and fortunatley it was still up for grabs. They had a $100 sticker on it, and they let it go for $75. It will need some refinishing, but overall it's in pretty solid shape.

In his retirement, my brother has become something of a picker for a local shop that sells mid century modern furniture so I've been paying more attention to it. I think you got a pretty good deal on that desk, it looks nice.

That "skewdriver" is a Milwaukee Power Head with the thumb piece missing.
https://www.greatlakespowertools.co...MIkuCG2PbT1wIVA41-Ch09zw1SEAQYBSABEgJGWPD_BwE
The thumb piece slides onto the raised ridges and keeps the head from twisting.

I've got a original SkewDriver Pro kit......this copy has no name or numbers or marks on it anywhere(nothing even on the bits) and compared to my SkewDriver it is very light weight and not the same build quality..... most likely made in china  If it were a Milwaukee I would hope they'd brand it somehow and make it a little more robust.
My SkewDriver Pro has the thumb piece so if I ever needed to I could use it on the light weight one probably.......

Looking at the link you provided.....at the end that chucks into the drill on the Milwaukee one pictured, it has that little space milled out at the end.....this el-cheapo is straight shanked....

1942 NESCO "QMC" 5-gallon gas can

PROTO Los Angeles (made in the J.P. Danielson factory) 1953 (date code "I.1.3") 8" adjustable with a 41-W-486 Federal Stock Number stamped in it. (This is going to be a 'Secret Santa' swap with a friend who has a 1953 Dodge M37.)

Herbrand tappet wrench with an unusual painted finish. Almost bronze color and dappled. They called the way the panel leads into the head of the wrench "scientifically engineered" in the 1941 catalog. It is a nice wrench.

Heck of a Wilton haul! I think there is some double suckage there.

I guess always listen to the woman...

....well, when she says look in the shed anyway.

Lugz, it seems like alot of these stock # tools are turning up here lately.

A couple prospects for me this weekend. We shall see what happens.

Nice recovery.

Agreed, especially compared to years gone by.

That's only the second time I've ever held a Proto 41-W-486 in my hand. The first was last year standing in a guy's garage in central Pennsylvania. I had just loaded a couple hundred pounds of his surplus tools in my truck, itching to make the drive back to NJ, and the guy wanted me to "assess" his Willys MB toolkit. That's always a tricky affair. Thankfully it was after we negotiated a price for the lot, but still tricky. It can mean he just wants to show off, or it can mean he really wants to know if it's all in order and correct or not. Anyway, long story short, I had to let him down on the 8" adjustable in it being post-war. That's the power of the FSN. You see it in a WWII jeep TM, you see it on a tool, voila. But they were around from the 30's through 1953.

Good luck on the prospects.

Finally made it to the flea after a few week hiatus. $10 a piece for the '92 Snap-On mid box (KRA-429F) that's missing a drawer, and an unbranded but in good condition top box. Both boxes came with a nice compliment of junk inside.

Looks like a K-22 from about '35 or so. See here.

No. The lids on those are not double-hinged - the front flops down like a loading ramp, while the lid flips up. This is a K23 - same basic design - but the 22 is even smaller.
I think what the OP has is bigger and few years newer. Looks like the drawer pull on the lid is a replacement or addition. The lock may be original or a retrofit.

The shadows are getting longer and longer and the hauls are getting smaller and smaller. This morning, came home with a pair of wartime Duro Metal Products "-D-I-" sockets, a post-war 1/4-inch Williams M-105 spinner (with a female drive end in the **** end of the handle), a post-war Red Devil putty knife, vintage uncertain PEXTO round-nose pliers, and a Wakefield WIZARD No. 19 monkey wrench. AA has one of these with a patent date (Nov. 14, 1922) stamped on it. That patent (1,435,548) was applied for May 9, 1919. This one is marked PATENTS PENDING, so I am dating it from 1919 to 1922. This is my second Wakefield WIZARD tool, the first being EDIT: 6-inch slip joint pliers. Love the logo, not to be confused with the much later Western Auto Store tools with the same name.

Before I do this weekends finds I need to finish up the ones from weeks ago. This is the stuff from the Main to Main 50 mile long yard sale the firs Friday of November. Not as good as last year when a I found a baby bullet for $25 but a good day regardless.

Pic 1: Craftsman workbench $5, 24 drawer hardware cabinet (missing 1 drawer) $15, Craftsman rusty toolbox with a bunch of Craftsman and some Blackhawk $10.

Pic 2: Coca Cola shelf, $20.

Pic 3: Oil and Coca Cola crate, $7

Pic 4: Tool box with tools $7. The old style hex drive ratchet set in the lower left has a Husky sticker on it.

Pic 5: Craftsman dremel style hobby tool case with flexible shaft, Craftsman socket and wrench, Stanley knife and a Petersen Vise Grip $7

Pic 6: SS hubcap, 409, pliers, Sears Sand and Strip, C-clamps, bottle $10. Spoke shave $6, Craftsman clutch head screwdriver and Crown logo hacksaw blades $2

Pic 7: Sears Allstate horns and razors $20, anvil hardy $8. The horns were used at a paper mill if one of the paper machines had a problem and shut down. Waiting to hear them make noise!

OK Nothing going on for me for yardsailing this weekend so:

WrenchGuy and I were discussing this, and I know we have "Show Me your" threads for the Heritage and Crown marked Craftsman tools, which are mostly power tools and boxes, (the tools generally having =V= or -V- markings...) but we were unable to find one for the older "Long C" Craftsman tools.

So, Ta-da!:

BB are the horns 120 AC or 12 VDC?

Nice finds!

Other than the Allstate sticker there are no other markings, lettering or anything. Those round "relays" have three terminals, I'll call them A,B and C.

"A" goes to a single horn so each horn has it's own relay. There are no other wires going to the horns so I assume the negative is grounded through the metal framework.

"B" is wired together with a short wire and has a long wire with a large ring terminal going from one terminal. I suspect that is a ground wire.

"C" terminals both have a long wire that probably went to power.

Suggestions anybody?

Lol. Not much going on I take it?

Things are going strong in FL. Business as usual. Quite a few post Thanksgiving yard sales turned up this week.

Say, shopper of the year reminds me we are 11 months in here. Wow! This year went by fast. We will need to elect a new host soon. Feels like just yesterday I kicked off this thread.

Outlaw way to get the Long C thread going! Looks good so far guys.
