I'm probably going to swing by my store tomorrow, I did today but I forgot to get some light bulbs... I'm fairly sure I've seen the Milwaukee boxes there, and Dewalt, and Husky... Not sure how QTY of each, they have big stickers on all the boxes like $698 or something IIRC...

No. And that's the part you need to be ready to explain to them. Some were confused because it was a different price than the site (like all clearance) or because it had the UPC for a full cabinet
Is there any difference in the top box being sold alone vs in the set, SKU or otherwise. I'm assuming they wouldn't split a combo up just for someone to buy the top on clearance

He said in an earlier post they had extra tops with no matching bottoms, that's why they went clearance for that half in his store.

One of the local Home Depot's had 6 of them in stock. Snatched two of them and left the others for any other garage enthusiasts.

Just looked, it's funny because the top-sku shows none in stock... But you look for the whole top & bottom combo (SKU: 1001399836 ) and they have 14 in my store! LOL... Yeah, those aren't going to sell anytime soon.

There are 2 Dewalt top boxes for $149 on clearance at my local store. Don't know how long they will be around for. Good thing they are up in the rafters but have the price tags facing out.

Stopped by my homedepot across town (close one didn't have any) and a guy working there said the top Milwaukee boxes got down to $113 this morning before being bought early today.

I'm hoping they are coming out with a better version as I still need the top to complete my chest.

Stopped at a new HD today and they had the Arrow 9100K electric Brad Nailer/Stapler marked for $22.06 w/ an 11/23/16 date. I checked the computer and it was down to $7.33 (I don't recall the tens) so I grabbed one. Reviews are mediocre though.

It's amazing to me how long stuff sits around here before it drops down in price. Lightbulbs especially.

I would take a quick walk around the store and see how many sets you see. I guess maybe if you were in a major metro store they would have more than a few, but 14 is a lot of stock of tool chests. Though I could also see them only have 7 total units, if they mucked up their stock counts by scanning individual top/bottoms separately.

The store I was at, had 2 Husky chests that were labeled with the Milwaukee sku (white sheet of paper for easier inventory... when accurate), when searching for bottoms. I was just looking for red boxes, but the employee felt the need to look at every sku.

Went back tonight for the remain 2, and when the guy took them down he said they had a sheet saying "do not sell." That's fine and all, aside from the part of telling me earlier in the day I could buy those after dropping the first 2 off my neighbors. I'll have to go back and find the person that assisted me prior. I can't say I needed to put the extra miles on my truck

Yeah it was a little over $7 in my store too, I grabbed one a week or so ago. Figured it couldn't be that bad, I've had to hand staple a bunch at once and it is very tiresome... This will be a lifesaver if it works!

I saw the Mosquito Sentry Gs-388d on clearance for 47.03. I bought one and then I saw that it was cheaper to buy it on Amazon. People are selling new in box for $20. This thing must be ****. I will be taking it back. sku 554827

These are still around. They had four at my local store. Got one for my wife's new office. One for my wife's boss. And one to resell, hopefully make my money back. The employee that was helping us even gave us an extra 20% off for some reason. Got each one for about $41 out the door.

Got these today too....

Saw them on the computer at my local store but found in stock at a different store. I like that it tells you.

Ended up being $3.18 each if anyone's interested.

at times some bulbs will be stuck on the same price for over a year. Bulbs clearance pricing is weird and they don't drop much.

There are some really good products that get clearanced and are great buys at the .03/.02 number. Then there are a good number of things that have horrible reviews so even at last clearance, it's not worth it.

I've had a few things a store would have given me for free that I left. They were such garbage, I didn't want them and I wouldn't stick a friend with them.

Yeah my store has a bunch of those Halo cans on clearance too, have been for the past month or so. I think they got replaced with a new SKU because there is a bunch in the regular area that look the same, but just cost a lot more... lol. Almost considered buying some for that cheap, but then I thought about all the work it would be for me to install the suckers! No thank you!

They also had a bunch of outdoor LED recess cans on clearance too, almost thought of buying some of those to do some lightning around the perimeter of the house mounting in the soffits. That is still on my to-do list when I can find a decent amount in a color I like.

I could never find any of the fridges in our store. They had 4 of the freezers a while back, but those got sold at $75 in a single weekend.

I took some screenshots yesterday, my store has some Makita angle grinders marked down (but couldn't find them... yet), and various dewalt stuff...

These uppers dropped to $75.03. I started to grab both at my store then ran into the local pawn owner who wanted one. I let him have one & told him I expect good will points next time I'm haggling in his store (they're actually far and away the MOST reasonable pawn shop I've ever been in)
Still sets at one area store. One marked to $448 from $498. Lots of keeper went to a penny. Restore finally to $7.00 gal $30.00 a five gal.

Got to HD at closing last night, just in time to see that they had 2 of the top boxes, still boxed up. When I got there this morning about 1/2 hour after opening they only had one left. I started to load up that one and the guy in tools yelled at me to stop. He told me I had to buy them as a set. I said that they are listed with separate skus online. He confirmed and said the price was $329 for the top. He wrote the sku down and told me to go to the pro desk. Guy at pro desk punched in the sku and it came up at $75 as I thought it would. He said that's wrong and called the guy from tools. He came over all pissy and said he wouldn't sell it for $75. Called the manager over who was confused but easily convinced by the tool guy that it should only be sold as a set for $649. Did not push too hard and walked out. My question is which employee bought the other top box between last night at close and this morning? Dirty.

Went to a different HD that had them unboxed and set up as sets. Asked the lady in tools about separating and she said no problem. Looked up the sku and found it was on clearance. Immediately printed out clearance tags and asked how many I wanted. Guys came over to help load and freaked out over the price and told the lady to stop printing clearance tags because guys said they were buying the remaining boxes. She said, nope, I'm doing my job and printing clearance tags and not holding for you guys. Nice job, lady :)

Anyway, great deal and glad to be the early bird instead of the worm for once. Thanks for posting.

The clearanced top and the combo top have different UPCs (but same model number), you got lucky for sure!

Maybe so. When I checked the PCA yesterday I saw that the store that I ultimately purchased from listed a quantity of 2 for the clearance SKU, so I suspected that they would have no problem selling at least one at the clearance SKU price. The sets that were unboxed on the floor even had a display card in the top part that listed the clearance sku and the $329 price.

I tried first at the store that listed none of the clearance skus in stock because it was closer to me, and because some others on here had indicated success in doing so.

So are there 2 sets of packaging for these top boxes; one with the top/bottom "set" bar code and one with the clearance bar code?

Yep. Top alone ends in a 1 in the UPC, combo top UPC ends in a 4. Same milwaukee model number though

Interesting. I'm wondering who else is able to get in on this deal. Seems like a very good quality box for $75. I don't have a base unit for it to sit on though...

As killer of a deal as that is, it's a lot of bench space if you don't have a bottom to go with it... Why can't they clearance out bottom's for $75... I would buy every last one they had! LMAO

I have a top box without a bottom. I mounted it on a stringer under a table. It was quick and effective, and doesn't cost me any horizontal surface space. Access to the top-chest compartment is the only real sacrifice, but it still opens up about six inches.

I'm considering that, too, but if I do I'll just remove the lid.

This Milwaukee top box is pretty useless. Half the box is the big open space up top. They should have made it all drawers.

I'm interested in the tops because of the power plugs built in so you can fit chargers on the top deck with the lid closed. Would much prefer the full set but the top would be acceptable. Unfortunately only one store in my area even has it at .00.

What do y'all think about wall mounting the top box? Would fit perfectly mounted across 4 studs. Weighs 170 lbs empty, so should mount fine into studs with proper shelf supports. Could even put a bench underneath.

I've used John Sterling brackets & GRK structural screws with good results. Across 4 studs, this setup would be rated to hold 1200 lb on a stud-mounted shelf. Also pretty cheap, especially if you can shop at Menards.

Weighs 170 empty? Once you add sockets, wrenches, etc. that number will climb quickly.

Sure but even 500# spread across 4 studs ain't THAT much load. The key will be nice long shelving brackets w plenty of triangulation. For peace of mind use GRK's instead of ****** Gr2 lags.

edit: gamp945 read my mind while I was typing LOL!
I'm thinking about doing this, but on pallet racking so very different in that regard.

Even if it can support the weight when closed, things can dramatically change once you open a drawer, though even if it was just on a solid base you could have problems if not secured well

I've wanted this tool chest since it came out, so depending on funds later I may splurge for the bottom if I can order in store, have my dad come in with his military discount & do it the same week Menards is having a 11% off, it would be around $345. Nowhere near 80% off, but can't get everything for almost nothing

I doubt the back metal is designed to handle that kind of load. Would probably tear apart at the seams. It's meant for a vertical load.

I agree it wouldn't handle being mounted by the back metal. What I meant was wall mounted on a shelf. That type of mounting would put no stress on the box itself, and the wall-mounted shelf could easily handle 1200 lb with the type of brackets and screws that I have used in the past.
