That's not code in my area either. Very few houses have floor drains and if they do, it has nothing to do with the water heater, it's for other reasons. And the plumbing code requires that the pipe off the pressure relief value ends a foot off the floor. I have never seen even one piped into a floor drain and I've been in hundreds of new construction houses.

Was it labeled this price on the shelf? I'm going be shopping for a water heater to replace our Ruud from 1991. While it still works and shows no leaks, it makes me nervous about the age.

So I ended up getting the $407 one (originally $679) for $271.60. The benefits of shopping gas water heaters in a town without much gas I suppose.

I think the price is a bit lower than normal, especially if you can use a coupon. Amazon was selling these blades for about $35 - $40 since last summer.

With that said, I decided to stick with the higher quality blades available (e.g., Freud) for the type of work that I do. These Hitachi blades are Chinese and have lots of reports of wobble/vibration. Still probably very good for rougher work. But I'm a very amateur woodworker so whenever possible I purchase higher-quality items that make it easier to get closer to pro results.
