I have one, seems to work great if used as designed. It is a digital version of a dial torque. No setting it to a number, just reads what your max is.It's garbage, don't bother.

Yup.... Put it in probly 6-8 weeks ago now.I know this is the deals thread but has anyone seen this at their local Lowes? This is in Queen Creek AZ. All the drawers have individual pieces. Wrenches, sockets etc.

They cant get Halloween over with fast enough. Skip Thanksgiving and strait to Christmas.I was in Lowes the other day, and a guy in the hardware section was over by the Irwin tools and up in the overhead area. I asked him about those right-angle needle nose pliers that were $9.99... Store said they had like 120+ one day, and the next they had 2...
Said some guy came in and bought 10 boxes of them (So I'm guessing it was a dozen per box)!!! I can only imagine they will end up on eBay, but still at $10 cost I don't think you will get near MSRP for those... If you offer $20 with free shipping you will barely break even... Maybe he bought them for a local school or something? But still, what kind of guy has to be a douche and buy up ALL of them and not leave a few for the next guy? $1,200 worth of pliers seems like it would take a while to re-sell, if Lowes couldn't get rid of them I don't think they are all that hot of an item...
Anyhow, guy said he thinks they might have a couple left (looks like they pulled all the german made Irwin stuff from the display). He looked in all the overhead areas, and even took me to all the clearance areas but we could not find them. Oh well... They were neat, but not really a necessity...
They are already putting up Christmas trees in my store, I can only guess that the summer outdoor stuff will be going on serious clearance soon...
They had a cartload of tools from reset at 75% off. Most of it was 20 volt porter cable.

They did that six weeks ago around here. You have to get on Your knees to look at the stuff.this is a new reset for the socket/wrenches,ect. They are trying to save space.

tree display houses, it took two of us 18 hrs. No blueprints, just pics and board measurements, then they didn't send all the corner parts.

A few more 75% of tool displays.

It's garbage, don't bother.
Any support or experience for that claim?
They are actually pretty decent, good accuracy and repeatability, in my experience and testing.
I can see the danger in the hands of a shade tree mechanic that doesnt know the difference of a wrench that one sets for a desired torque vs "reading" the applied torque, but at the same time, if I am doing something that calls for precision work, I'm not going to use a cheap/chinese made tool for that work. A few hundred will get a excellent torque wrench, not the place to cheapen out.
Thanks for the background and info, agreed that is not a good sign.
I fear the accuracy issues are a concern for anything other than a beam type torque wrench. It's impractical for home mechanics to get either the click type or electronic type calibrated, and it is very easy to get them out of calibration.
For most of us, a $20 beam type torque wrench may be an even better option. Since the torque is measured by physical properties of the beam material, very reliable and repeatable.

I have three stores in town, I try to switch between them to see availability of items between different stores and the website would not let me switch. There are some other issues also. At this point and based on nearly 25 years of internet experience I have arrived to conclusion that their website is run by incompetents even though on first glance it looks nice.
I use FireFox and lately started to use Opera browsers.
