OK back on track for the thread:

Bobcat - Nice find! Is if broken beyond repair or just the usual two stroke sitting around issues?

It seems to have the normal 2 stroke sitting issue. Also looks like it was never really used, the chuck has almost no wear to it.

Thanks Jayman.....The boxes belonged to an 85 yr old gentleman who keep them in a spare bedroom (on the second floor) he used as a hobby room....so, they were kept from any harsh garage exposure....

It's all of 8 degrees here, but after seeing everyone else posting their finds I dragged myself out of the house. No nearby tag/estate sales so I decided to poke around at one of the indoor flea markets.

Nothing super exciting, but I found a few things-
Craftsman and Billings wrenches
Craftsman H 1/4" breaker w SK socket
Craftsman punch

1/2" sockets from Craftsman, Easco, Indestro
3/8" sockets from Snap On, SK
3/8" Proto #2 Phillips

Here's my purchases picked up today from one of two online auctions this week.

First a lawn tractor mounted 36" snow blower. The thing is brand new and never use. I may have to do some fabricating to get to to fit my Cub Cadet but at $90 it was cheaper than other peoples rusty used junk. And I figure if I just go through the effort to make it fit that will be enough to make the snow stop for the winter. At least that's my plan….:D
IMG_2524.jpg

Second is a nice 3 step easy folding step ladder. I have a smaller version that is not as stable as this one with nice wide steps. I use one of these a lot in the garage to reach overhead storage. Much easier to handle than a full size step ladder and I can carry inside and out of house.

Rmal, I have the "painters" version of that three step. It has a folding shelf on the grab bar with a inset for a gallon paint can, and holes for drivers and such. Very stable and very handy for jobs you don;t need to be higher for. Nice scores!

Auction #2 for this week was from an ES but handled through an online auction. The seller was a big time music and video collector. I managed to get two lots of LP's totaling 34 albums at an average price of $0.30 each. I'll probably keep about half of them for my collection but did get some classic Motown, Elvis, Tommy James, Jan and Dean etc.

Interesting, that's a new one to me! :) I have kind of a cousin of that type of wrench, a double-headed "multi wrench", kinda-adjustable but not in the traditional way... got it for a buck or two at a garage sale several years ago, unbranded. Here's a couple photos of one like it from Ebay if you're curious. I also got its single-headed big brother (mine isn't rusty like the photos, again borrowed from Ebay for convenience; there were some unrusted ones on Ebay but the wording on their handles was a bit different). Mine don't even say where they were made, but some of the ones on Ebay with different engraving say Taiwan.

Picked up a few things at two sales today for $28.

NOS B-Line 3/4 HP 1725 RPM motor...this thing is massive.
Blitz gas can
Kreg clamp
Some books for the boy

Also another freebie...Delta Rockwell 14" bandsaw in pieces. Went through a New Orleans flood that shall not be named, but still has a lot of good parts. They also threw in a good 3/4 HP Delta motor. It's comical looking at it next to the B-Line, knowing they're the "same" HP and RPM.

If anybody happens to know protocol for how best to handle the B-Line motor, I'd love your $.02. I know grease / oil doesn't last forever, so I imagine I should probably disassemble, clean, etc. everything before significant use. But this being NOS, and still having grease packed to the top of the caps, I wanted to make sure that this wasn't a different situation. I'm hoping I can fit this into the bottom of the enclosed Delta Rockwell stand I bought for my wood-metal bandsaw. It does run, like a champ...I hooked it up briefly just to verify.

I don't care how you're posting pics, Merc, as long as you're in for this year! (Now go find something as cool as a "bomb table" and that's an order!) :)

subscribed! Jesus 9 pages already? I need to quit slacking...
HAHA! My sentiments exactly. This damn snow and cold is really putting a crimp in my own collecting!

HEX: i'll pass on the tip of eliminating the "S" in HTTPS on the Imgur links to get them to work for those members that are having issues. if it works that should help some of the guys get their pictures posted.

JM: it's been a while since i've seen toolboxes sold full of tools around here and always a bonus if you find something you can use or resell to get some of your TOOL FUND (FUN MONEY) back.

ALL: GEESH it's only the first week of 2018 and look at all the activity. WELL DONE!!

my bride wanted to go to the first garden and home remodeling show of the year in our area yesterday so i spent a couple hours eating KETTLE CORN and seeing some good ideas, some cheap imported tools and inventions and she bought a little steamer to clean our hardwood floors that might have some tool cleaning capabilities so stay tuned.

anybody else buy or know about these hose nozzels? I bought a couple last year and I almost bought another one yesterday for $25 for my shop/storage cause they work great and a lot easier than pulling out my Honda pressure washer. they also have a lifetime guarantee instead of buying those cheap ones (for close to the same price) at HD or Lowes that last a year or two.

I came across a couple Snap on clocks at an antique store today and couldn’t leave them there. Gotta find somewhere in the garage to hang them now.

Saw a Crafsman 3/4 HP grinder on stand listed for $100 on local craigslist.

I stopped by today and paid asking price plus paid an additional $50 for a few extra items.

The daughter was selling her late fathers collection. He lived in the back of a gun shop that he ran. The ashtray was a gift from when he worked at the Mack plant.

They had a fridge full of black powder:

She was asking $200 for all the powder if anyone is interested in reloading let me know and I’ll get you her contact info. The house is about 15 mins north or Princeton Nj.

Looks like that fridge is vintage too - I'm guessing 50s?

Most of that is Smokless not black, and without special arrangements and hazmat fees, difficult to get shipped. Two cans in the bottom Pic are black (might be more behind that) and pic one has two cans of Pyrodex (imitation Black) .

So it's likely a local sale, a tougher sale. Value would have a lot to do with how much is in the cans... I see three 8 lb cans of (probably) shotgun powder, again, how much is in them?

Here is my first attempt at posting my 2018 tool finds. The first pictures are the items found at the Concord, CA flea yesterday and the later pictures are from a local estate sale today. Lots of Craftsman and some Kraeuter metric 3/8" drive sockets. Today's included a Worth Stillson and Erie Pipemater 8" Stillson pipe wrench.

Some nice finds guys.

Today was a good day here!

Finally got to meet up with fellow member cbacres for a flea market pick! What better place to meet a fellow Garage Journaler. I believe we put forth a very good team effort in hunting bargains to take home.

Other than it being probably one of the the coldest mornings since I’ve moved to FL (threw on a vest for the first time), it was a good old time!
Pretty cool to hang out with a like minded tool enthusiast. We’ve been trying to meet up for a bit. It was sure fun to not shop the flea market by myself for once, and talk tools with somebody other than the vendors.

I have to say CB is a cool guy. Except for the part where he admitted envisioning me as some “grumpy old retired guy” who came from up north. ;) Too soon for that.

Now for the day’s haul. I spent 50 some dollars on the following.

Park folding metric hex key set
Snap on screwdriver
Mac DOE wrench
Yellow handle 4” adjustable,maybe Crescent?
Little Ridgid
Craftsman pro screwdriver
Cornwell extra long DOE
JC Penny 1/4 driver
Mayhew punch
Hazet spark plug socket,Craftsman 1/2 ext., Precision Bilt socket, Duro Chrome male 1/2 ext., unknown USA 3/8 locking ext.,
Two SK Wayne chisels

Ratchets- Craftsman 1/2, Cornwell long 1/2 that is broken, S-K stubby 3/8, New Britain 1/2 flex head, Williams 3/8, Powr Kraft 3/8

I enjoyed it, great to finally meet you, I mean how many people get to walk around a flea market with 2017's garage sale host:lol_hitti. I haven't even took my finds out of the truck, I'll post up tomorrow.

Threebay does fine on his own, see it's about " know your estate sale competitors ". Now I know who to drive like a maniac to get in front of at the next sale!:lol_hitti

Hah! I heard about the Lista virus going around. I can’t afford to catch that bug. There’s just no room.

I'm flush, my shop is gridlocked. I have two more cabs at a temporay holding facility in Tally. No more for me, really, honest:beer:

Three bay and I may team up on upcoming estate sale to take control of the garages, I know not to get in his way of a ratchet:lol_hitti

We used to go to the Concord flea all the time. They always had big bags of fortune cookies. Parking *****.

Saturday is a much nicer day to go to the Concord flea. I went on Sunday once and I won't do it again! Here is the Herbrand ratchet and the Wright flex handle cleaned up

Hey drives, I use that type of nozzle. If you like it now you should try putting a quarter turn ball valve on the hose before it - works great for washing vehicles. I found plenty of options on Amazon.

I took delivery of this p&c top chest this weekend ! Rileysan found it and negotiated the price for less than the listed price ! Can't ask more of a guy ! It is filthy and the exterior paint is not in great shape but the inside paint , even while filthy looks pretty shiny ! I think it was used very little... all physical attributes point to being made by pressteel and it will get cleaned up in my pressteel thread in due time !

I came across a couple Snap on clocks at an antique store today and couldn’t leave them there. Gotta find somewhere in the garage to hang them now.
Love the tag line on the bottom one!

Place was pretty well picked clean... Didn't buy a single thing... :(
My philosophy is you need some of these days to make the good days seem even better. Or at least that's what I try to tell myself. :)

Here is my first attempt at posting my 2018 tool finds.

Nice haul, Don. Two years too early on that flex head! :)

Picked up this cool little Drillgine yesterday. Doesn't run but it's in excellent condition. Will bring it to work along with my Husqvarna 2100CD as display pieces. Price was FREE!

FREE! My favorite price. Nice find.

Vidmar 7-drawer 42" mobile cabinet (52" with casters), old USAF circa '95-96. Drawer dims 27-1/2" wide, 26" deep, 5" height and 400lb per drawer limit. Few dents and dings but hard to pass at $200. Those casters are like train wheels! Just wish it still had all the Snappy for those cutouts ;)0e41a7cb3753cf5a3197edcebef7d833.jpge73cf000f51c07160614051a6a043531.jpg27ee26d1fc1ee913cabd0796431d2100.jpg

Then again, I don't have vises I don't use. Doing otherwise would be like dating Jessica Alba and sleeping on the couch.

First weekend out of the year. I slacked off pretty hard in the latter part of 2017, but my first weekend finds have got me all charged up.

Hobart Handler 140, $100 No gas regulator, just the welder with a roll of flux core in it. I have a regulator that will work on it, so no biggie there. Family run estate sale. There was a picture in the add of some junk in the garage, but nothing that looked great. It was close to my house, so I went anyways. Maybe 10 people showed up, and they all went for the house. I of course headed straight to the garage. No haggling, that was the price on it, and I just grabbed it. It works, and looks barely used.

Drill doctor 750, same sale, still sealed in the box, never used. $15

Not a tool, but in the work shed behind the garage of the same sale. Old Benjamin Franklin pellet gun. No price on it, so I asked how much. $1, it does not work, and the leather cup seal is rotted out, but for $1, I had to take it home.

So my question to all of you is are the garage sales and flea markets that you all go to more of a hobby to see what you can score and collect old tools? Are you building out sets for personal use? Or do you guys buy and flip? I think when the kids are grown 20 years from now I might get into this. But for now I do not have the time. Just wondered because some of you toolaholics would seem to have an abundance of tools.

Not saying that it is a bad hobby but I can only imagine some of your tool collections! And I thoroughly enjoy looking!
