Ha! Great minds...well done, bc!
Saturday afternoon I decided to go back to the Westford sale. Spent another hour there digging.
Man you ****!After paying up for my treasures, I should have left. But, being friendly and conversational, I asked the sale guy if the big shop equipment had sold.
Sale Guy: "No, not yet."
Me: "I probably shouldn't ask, but...how much are you asking for the Delta 1.5hp Wood Shaper?"
Sale Guy: "This sold new for $900, and this guy paid $600 for it. You can have it for $75. I don't want to have to move it."
Me: "Well, okay, I'll take it."
I pull out my wallet again and paid up.
------------
Me: "That Delta 1.5hp Model 10 table saw is really nice too, but I already have a table saw."
Sale Guy: "Yeah, that's the problem: everyone already has one. You can have it for $30."
Me: "Well, okay, I'll take it."
I pulled out my wallet again.

I gave $10 for the stuff in the pictures and I also got a food processor for the mother in law since she been wanting one due to her old one burnt up, got it for $6.Shaking my head. I think of Craigslist and eBay as 50 cents to the dollar, yard sales as 25 cents to the dollar, and estate sales as 10 cents to the dollar. There are exceptions to the prices on rare or collectible items, but I walk away from anything dramatically different than that.

Hemi: the workbench was a thick, heavy duty one for sure, but I don't have a place for it in either of my garages. This sale was in Westford, Mass. Not sure where you guys are geographically--but you didn't take that bench with the vise???

Yeah, that's ridiculous. You want high-end eBay prices, then you pull the items before starting the local sale, post them on eBay, and be prepared to store them for months or years until they sell at that price you found one eventually managing to sell for (or worse, that one only was listed for if they weren't smart enough to only check sold listings).
Second stop: 16" CM driver, a NOS sun compression tester, 6" 60 grit wheel with a nice ping, gallon of WW fluid and a 55,000 btu mutli-fuel Reddy Heater. $20 for all.
What's the part # for that CMan screwdriver???
Hey Bagged, tell me more about those jaw covers on the Parker, those are sweet! Did you make em?A few purchases this week.
First is a 1/2 HP delta grinder. This one is on a walker turner pedestal. The tag says 220v but it’s wired for 110v. I plugged it in and it purrs and the lights and bulbs work too.
The water turner stand is a little damaged but it’s a very cool stand.
$62
Then I picked up this 6” Rock Island 577 today for $70.
Need to find a swivel base for it but it’s in very clean shape under all the black. And the rust is just slight surface rust. If anyone has a lead on a swivel let me know.

"oh I didn't price that so I need to look it up and see what what it cost on eBay."
Shaking my head...
Yeah, that's ridiculous.
I am usually very stoic at flea markets, long-inured to the 'it sells for umpteen dollars on eBay' eedjits. But lately, after experiencing a noticeable uptick in instances of it, I have been less than unflappable, responding, against my better judgement, with the obvious retort: "But this isn't eBay!"Spot on!

...or the fact that there is no shipping & handling involved, no sales ads to monitor, no transaction to manage, etc, other than holding your open hand out and taking my cash on the freaking spot!Yeah I've seen quite a few estate sale companies around here too price things basically at the top price they can find on eBay... Doesn't matter if the ebay item is a NOS complete set and hasn't sold in a year of sitting on ebay and their item is beat to hell, incomplete, and doesn't work...

... I am headed to Japan for a week and my daughter has already said she will be taking me to:
1 - a couple of cool thrift shops
2 - one or more 'shrine sales' - essentially flea markets
3 - a four story 'Daiso' - Japanese Dollar store!! crazy snacks!
The real reason for going is to see the grandkids. and there will be lots of off-base time and things like bullet train rides, various shrines, Tokyo Disney.. but I am happy that she threw a couple of Duddly things in the itinerary as well!
Edit - Oh I will be there for peak cherry blossom time and she says they blow away what we have in DC - so that should be cool to see!
If you like candy, look for Japanese Kit-Kat bars. They come in all kinds of crazy flavors over there, I recently learned.

... I decided to take apart the ratchet for a good cleaning. Unfortunately, during disassembly I broke the small snap ring that secures the selector switch.
I sent an e-mail to Cornwell not expecting much of a response. I told them that I was not the original purchaser. The next day I was contacted by a fellow who asked for pictures of the ratchet. Once he saw the photos he gave me an address to send it back for repair. I just received it back with a new rebuild kit installed. He estimated that the tool was made sometime in the 1950s!

I'd say that was pretty good customer service!
