My haul this weekend, got everything here for $20. The Coleman stove has never been used and was still in the box. I got the Ridgid pipe threader for $5. Pretty happy right now. Needed some nut drivers, so I picked up the Snap On's, missing 1/4" and 5/16" though. Also picked a Merit Abrasive model 200 pneumatic drill of some sort. I think it had 14000 RPM listed on it.

So, I went back to one of the sales I was at yesterday, picking up a couple small things, then hit what looked like a good one about a half hour south. Nothing worth mentioning, but saw a sign for a moving sale. Stopped at that, and hit gold! For $20 I got the following:
2enn3uh.jpg

Snap-on 3/4 T-handle from 48, P&C C clamp and P&C socket.
280qkcg.jpg

P&C top box, which was packed. Here is the best of what was in there
65wvu0.jpg

Starrett calipers, Proto socket tray and 4 universal sockets, P&C brake tool, wood level, cool sliding rule and P&C sockets and wrenches. This is what else I am keeping:
103v0nn.jpg

And the box on the left is what is going to Habitat, while the right is trash
23krrtg.jpg

I love going through an old box, you never know what you will find.

I picked up this Peters & Russel Hand Pump at an Estate Sale yesterday. I couldn't find out any info on it's age.

Picked these up Saturday morning at two local estate tool sales. Starrett Mic, Mitutoyo dial caliper, couple of Snap-on wrenches/sockets, Mac wrenches, SO 1/4dr ratcheting thumbwheel, Whitney Punch, thread Gage. I put some new batteries in the light and it even works! Some Proto line wrenches and two sets of DBM leads.

Not killing it, but picked a few items. $23 all.

Snap-on scraper, 3/8 and 5/16 screwdrivers, 1/4 drive extension and flex head. MAC wobble extension, NAPA brass punch, and Craftsman Pro 8mm wrench. I've found these long 8mm or 5/16 are handy to have in tool kit or glove box of each vehicle that uses the 8mm side-post battery clamp.

Went back to the flea market hoping the guy had found the Snap On puller to fill out the set I got from him last week but no dice. However he did have more Snap On and other brands for cheap. Picked up all this for $20. The Snap On is in the back starting with the red handle Blue Point pliers and above. The 1/2 drive sockets are all 6 point. The lower part of the picture is Craftsman, Mac and a few other USA brands.

Findings from the last two weekends hitting only a few promising sales.

Barcalo wrench set $12. Been looking for a set of these.

View media item 86195

Proto hex ball socket set $5

NOS Snap On ratchets F747A & F851 $35 each. I don't often see Snap-on at normal sales and if I do they are typically priced well above the price point in my head. Got lucky and ran into some good deal pricing this time

This Utica branded parallel pliers followed me home. Only tool related thing I found to be worthwhile this weekend.

Still slow on the event day, found a few more things. but the thing that I'l probably get the most use out of is the pencil torch in pic one. its fits perfect through the match hole in the bottom of a Coleman lantern and can reach the generator so I'l use that to preheat and light the lanterns propane quick!

The army Shaving kit" tool bag is a great size for things and I have several. I like these to make up kits. Hand carved wood flute for the music collections, Champion DeArment (Channellock) battery pliers, Utica dykes, a hose fitting.

Great deal. I bought a similar well used Coleman 413G alone for $20 last week at the ReStore and thought I had a good deal. It was mildly rusty, banged up and dusty but there was fuel in the tank and it fired right up!

The date of manufacture is printed on the underside of the tabs which hold the gas tank against the stove housing. Mine was from 1970.

Picked up this 26" Craftsman top chest off Craigslist. In good shape, just missing some paint here and there. Paid more than I wanted at $100 but I have never seen one before.

We went to the Tahoe flea and a couple of garage sales today and found some interesting tools. The first picture is everything. The second and third are Plomb and Proto. The next two are Snap-on and Vlchek. Next is a Vaco universal nut driver and a Pratt and Whitney aircraft wrench.

A couple of things from a local flea market - A long Bonney 3/8 extension, a short Proto LA 1/2 extension, a The Billings&Spencer pocket wrench, and a Proto LA socket - all for $5, and A GE 26136 motor for $20. The cord has shorted at the broken part when I plugged it in (stupid, should have tested it with multimeter), but hopefully the motor itself work - just need to get it a new cord

Snagged this old box today previous owner said it was an old cornwell got it for $20.00 more than I wanted to spend but couldn’t pass it up.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Could be a cornwell. I have an old mac (with original emblem) just like that down to the flip up handles for the tray. Somewhere I posted it on here.

Edit, I went back and found mine. Guess there are some differences in build style.

I missed another thing today... a US modern military vest with ammo pooches, and a couple of smaller pouches. My son and I keep discussing modding one of these into something to replace the fanny packs we often use for hiking.

Finally bought some Evaporust so got all the sockets and wrenches I have bought in the month of August together for cleaning. Not a bad haul for 4 weekends worth of searching. I have a lot more but this is going to be the first batch to be cleaned.

95% of the sockets are USA made. Craftsman, Snap-On, Blackhawk, Proto, S-K, etc... Same with the wrenches.

Can’t wait to clean these up and get the sockets organized on my new socket organizer!

Having spent the week with two of my daughters and my labrador at my parents’ house, we headed home Sunday. Stopped at two places along the route and found three items. Bonney C32 ***** pinch, Bonney 7/16” Loc-Rite combo-line wrench (first I’ve seen outside of eBay), and a No11 E.C.Atkins 2-man saw handle. $2.50 for all.
Took pics of this interesting, early Channellock, but decided to let it stay where it was for the time being.
Edit: Here’s the saw handle after cleanup.

So looking to the resident Military gear collectors for help here, as I suspect this "tin" I picked up Sat. is military:

About 4" tall, not quite 1" thick and a bit over 2" wide - its NOT steel (which I thought at first) or if it is, its non magnetic SS. The only magnetic bit is the hinge pin.

There are no markings other than the "1" stamped in the lid, from inside (so its raised from the outside).

There is also a groove in the inside bottom that does not show up on the outside... The bottom is .060 thick and the wall thickness is .030.

No visible seams... Almost certainly drawn and the the other things formed onto it. So probably relatively expensive to manufacture?

The black finish appears to be paint on close inspection. (I thought it was blued steel at first...)

Any thoughts?

Outlaw, I think that's either German WW2 or (MUCH more likely) Soviet-bloc container for weapon cleaning equipment. Both of those categories are outside my area of detailed knowledge, but I think will get you headed in the right general direction. You've been cleaning up on the Coleman lamp shades lately!

Thanks GPW! I'll see if my google fu can sort it out.

Those shades were a surprise. I was able to get the second, "plain" one to a Coleman No. 306. The 306 shades were made for Air-O-Lite lamps.

I've been trying to track down the hobnailed shade but there are many variants, and dang few matches, and those they are guessing Ray-O or Alladin.

GPW, you nailed it its an East German AK-47, AK74 RG-57 "Tin Can" for a Cleaning Kit-

I'll probably add this to my carry case for the guns with cleaning supplies.

Got 2 small boxes:
Snap ON KRA250B 1984 (missing a handle)
SK looks like a 1/2 drive set.

Bought them unseen (except for couple of pics) - picked up by friend, delivered yesterday. Missing some paint and handle (SO), need a lot of cleaning (both)

But well - $9 SO and $3 SK...

Best part: SK logo looked like it was all scratched up on pictures: the image is after just wiping with wet paper towel...

P.S. sorry for crappy pictures - too tired to make good ones...

Nice!

I wonder how the vintage coolers like that compare to ones today keeping things cool.

Older coolers are only really good for 1-2 days of ice. (assuming the typical party ice) These were designed to have a BIG 920 lb) block of ice which might go three days. I'd relegate them to home BBQ's and cooling the drinks for that...

Modern 5 and 6 day boxes can actually get that, however block ice still helps and starting cold is essential for all coolers for max time.

I can get more that 5 days out of a 5 day cooler by:
  1. Starting with everything cold and where fesable, frozen
  2. having a "bed" of block ice (I freeze water in quart sized cardboard milk containers, and use three to make the bed)
  3. place the frozen food on top of the block ice
  4. put in everything else
  5. add party ice to fill in the gaps.
  6. Keep the box out of the sun and off the hot "deck" of your vehicle if possible

By doing this I've gone 7-10 days... (cooler weather also helps...)

I used to get about 5 days out of an older all plastic Coleman 100 cooler, but used 3 blocks made with 1/2 gallon cartons, and did the above. usually used 1-2 bags of party ice...

With the 70 Qt 5 day box I use less ice (carry just as much food) and get 5 days under the hottest weather, if not more. usually use less than 1 bag of party ice... (I can get by with the ice from my refer's ice maker, but now I have a "bulk" ice maker...)

The Coleman 100 with all plastic was a step above the old metal side coolers like pictured above...

Outlaw, you are the resident camping guru!

Here is a small but decent socket haul from the pawn shop.

Mac, Kobalt, Proto, 2 Matco Silver Eagle, Indestro 3/4 flex, Cal Van 5/16 bit holder, and last but not least an old Williams socket of some interest. I almost tossed it back in the bin but then noticed the stamp on the back.

It’s an SF-1218 1/2” drive 9/16 12 point socket. Normally that would be a ST-1218. The stamp reads NOT GUARANTD SPEC. DESIGN.

Not sure if this is a Ford connecting rod socket or other, and don’t have my cats. handy. Nothing jumps out at me as special unless it is thinner walled. I’ll have to compare it to an ST-1218.
