Yeah, my store too... Actually they had like 3 different models, each with slightly different PSI ratings...

I got my neighbor that 2800 PSI model for ~$80 last summer, it was out in the garden area one of the reconditioned models... Has worked great, and even being a reconditioned HD still offers the usual 30 day return / 1 year warranty.

Finally scored buckets of screws for a penny! The green screws were still $25, but I got some tan and red. Didn’t mind paying the 25 after I already scanned the tan at a penny. They were up in the rafters. I moved a ladder and grabbed them. Nobody said anything about being up on the ladder. :)

Well, some areas are better than others, hundreds still don’t have a safe place and hurricane season starts in2 months, like 20% still have no power or water

I grabbed 3 of those coolers for $10.03, great deal. I was also able to get through self checkout with 24 1lb boxes of deckmate screws for a penny a piece. Not as good as a 25lb box for a penny, but there just weren't any around here. Thankfully the SCO attendant was playing with their phone while I was checking out.

Similar to the 60 gallon for $120ish posted earlier in this thread, one of the Huntsville stores clearanced the 30 gallon (C302H) for $110 (but they are currently out of stock).

All the surrounding stores in the same town still have them at $399-449. Maybe some other stores are clearancing them too?

My dishwasher oversuds and leaks out the front with Cascade pods. I think it has to do with my water hardness. I had to switch to powder detergent only pods (no jet dry, or whatever other the green/blue liquid is in the Cascades).

Nonono... You are supposed to eat the pods, they are better than Tide! (JUST KIDDING, DON'T EAT THEM!)

As for the compressors... I think stores are getting new models/SKUs in... Like I noticed some 8-gal huskies they clearanced out, they now have some new SKU models that look exactly the same as the old ones, just full price...

Nothing spectacular. The diablo has been posted long time ago and I find a 12"
Diablo pruner for $1.80. A orbit water flow meter for $7.50.

Re: 2018 Home Depot Clearance Thead

First want to say hello and thanks to everyone for helping with great info. I have been able to find some good items but never came across any penny items until I think today. But there is a problem and hope I can get some help.

I found few items, and I went to pro desk, opened up price checker...and some of the items did not show any price...it said I think either "No Item" or "Not Found". I have read that when you see that most times it is a penny item.

Happy I finally, found my first penny items I went to the self checkout, scanned item and that window popped up saying something like "need assistance".

Everything I've read said, when you see that message, you just keep scanning other penny items or just check out...BUT when that message popped up I couldn't do anything. Meaning, the screen was blank and all I could see was that message. There was nothing on the screen to click or etc.

Can someone take the time, please walk me thru that part of the process. Was there a certain part of the screen I should have clicked, if yes what is it called.

Sorry to write so much, I'm hoping this is not some kind of updated system on Home Depot to stop us. Any other tips please pass them along.

Someone else had the same thing happen to them on Mar 9: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=7074819&postcount=338

If this is due to a software update, it would probably be rolled out gradually, taking months to be implemented in all stores.

Apparently you can ask the cashier for the lowest recorded price (above a penny) when that happens, if you really want the item.

There are a couple of stores here in Ohio that do not allow you to scan penny items in the SCO. You just need to take your chance at a manned register. Just buy some other items along with it!

Nope, they do it all the time. It's to prevent people from scanning the regular UPC which could either be at a penny or full price.

Those might be marked down because they got dented, returned, or maybe their age? Either way they can't simply throw that in the regular trash (hazardous chemicals) so they try to mark them down to sell...

Sometimes you can search and if the item says "not found" or whatever, you can 'refine' your search and it might be in the inactive items list.

*somtimes* the item's SKU drops out of the system entirely. I had that issue with some nails. One box rang up as a penny, other was not found. They ended up just giving them to me, but I can see how in self-checkout that would also cause an issue.

Like someone else said, some stores have it stop the process in SCO and trigger an assistance thing...

Re: 2018 Home Depot Clearance Thead

Thank you everyone that replied.I appreciate the info. Correct me if I'm wrong, I thought I read somewhere that when you search on the price checker, that after entering in the item number (example: 0000-444-866) if it cannot find it, then this is how you know its a penny. If there is another way, please explain. Aside from the way I mentioned above, how do you know if its a penny item before you goto checkout?

Next, so the problem I mentioned about after going to the self checkout, there is no way to get around it, or continue to check out?

For the other people who have done the SCO, what happens on your screen? Meaning, does it just scan and display the price with no problems?

There was a article written, that said when you goto SCO, most times after scanning item, it will display "assistance etc"...but the article mentioned, when this happens to just continue scanning other penny items or just check out. They article didnt explain how to "just continue scanning or check out"...is there something I'm missing, or a button I just press?

Thanks so much for the help...truly appreciate it.

At self checkouts by me, Assistance Needed comes from scanning items where they need to verify your age. That would be aerosol spray cans and knives.

The cashier running the self checkouts usually glances over, presses a button, and you continue.

Re: 2018 Home Depot Clearance Thead

Hello..as for the error message that comes up...this was my first time doing this so I didnt really pay attention to exact error message...I just know that I couldnt do anything else until cashier for the SCO came over and cleared it. So I'm asking if this is normal and how do I continue so I can checkout.

I'm going again now to different HD, and going try again. I hate the feeling of being nervous this whole thing is silly...it shouldnt be a big deal for them to sell it at penny...its extra money for them plus you make customer happy who then will buy other stuff anyhow. I know when I go there I buy extra stuff.

Please, if someone can read the post I did above at 8:02 and help with those questions.

Thanks so much for your time

Re: 2018 Home Depot Clearance Thead

FYI, there is a Home Depot Discussion Thread, probably better to post questions in there as this thread is really for posting deals....

When you search, don't use the dashes... in your example, 444866 is all you need to search for. Make sure it does indeed say 'no item found' or similar, sometimes it can timeout and you usually see a 'connection issue' or similar error. Best to always search twice if you think you found a penny deal to make sure it's not going to ring up at an unexpected price.

The self-checkout's do have a 'price check' button on them too. Look at the screen before you start scanning stuff. I don't know if it will ask for assistance doing a price check.

*Usually* the self-checkout will ring the item up at 1-cent. *Sometimes* you have to scan it twice, the first time it can make a weird beep sound. That only happened to me once though.

If you have to 'wait for assistance' it will not let you scan any more items, for obvious reasons. There is no way to checkout either, it locks the terminal till an employee does something.

EDIT - There is no reason to be nervous, it's not like you are breaking the law. If you get the penny item, great... If not, then life goes on... If it's something you really want, ask if they will sell it to you at the 'last sale price' which is usually 75% off, or make them a reasonable offer.

My store usually tries to catch the penny items and if they are little things they disappear (I'm assuming either trash or employees keep them), larger items they will marker over the SKU and slap a "This item only" clearance price tag on it starting back at 25% off and dropping price usually each week until it sells.

Be aware of the age of most articles and info people post. Some are quite old and the systems are constantly changing so what might have worked 5 years ago probably has changed since then...
