Re: 2018 Home Depot Clearance Thead

I tried to access the APC at a Home Depot I don't normally go to. The display was the normal layout, with the price check icon in the Public category. Instead of going to the store's inventory page, though, it opened an Internet Explorer page to check the store's inventory from the Home Depot website. I tried on two different computers and it worked the same way. Is this a common thing? Two other stores I've been to work as expected.

The PCA is web based, but it's a different URL (obviously) than the public homedepot.com website...

Maybe their IT people at that store changed it to discourage people?

I've noticed at my store some of the computers employees like to minimize the "public" section, or they close the splash screen entirely so you have to click the icon in the task bar to bring it back up.

you are getting too many of the mark-downs before they have a chance to hide them . . . .

In my experience, offering to purchase the penny item for $1.05 seems to work for just about anything. $1.05 is a standard clearance amount that is tied to a specific SKU that most managers know.

Good to know, thanks for sharing. Do you happen to have any receipts from past $1.05 purchases to see what that SKU is, in case anyone wants to try this with a less-familiar manager?

Edit: Thanks for the reply. Typing it out for future searchability, the Home Depot "Generic Clearance SKU" that rings up $1.05 is 0000-923-699.

that must be a good dream.. Yes sir, I will pay $1.05 for the $400 mitersaw. never happened to me, maybe small junk items like nails or **** lights. But power tools $$$ cost. Never. and if it did, maybe a very rare store or manager.

Most of time I have been told its a recall, we can't sell that. Sometimes they say pay website price which is more then amazon price. lol. These HD people lie on every turn. Maybe on rare occassion you get a honest manager or employee but 98% time get shot down big time and most of its small $$$ items too. These days, I don't try to get penny stuff and clearance stuff is gone by time it gets to .06 stage. Just way too many employees hiding stuff and deals before public even get a look.

I guess I shouldn't have made such a broad statement. I did not mean to imply you can expect to get a $400 miter saw for $1.05. Here's a sample receipt:

Re: 2018 Home Depot Clearance Thead

EOC Jason...First want to thank you for taking out the time and helping. I didnt know about the other forum and will go there now and post question. As for entering in the number correctly when using the price checker...example: 0000-444-866...I did know to enter it without the dashes...lol, I learned that much. But thanks for explaining cause that could have been the reason.

So...as for entering in the number into the Price checker...if you enter the number and it displays no info...meaning no pic, no price etc...is that the correct way to know that item is penny? Or is there another way? I know you can check the BOD on the yellow tag and use tht number try and figure out when it might be lowered again, but (correct me if Im wrong)...the BOD doesnt always mean after 5 months or etc...it will be penny. How do you check to see if its a penny, basically?

when you goto the SCO..and scan a penny item...all you do is scan and it displays a penny on screen? you dont need to do anything especial or hit extra buttons?

I agree about should not be nervous. But I couldnt help it. I even tried to talk myself up and remind myself Im doing nothing wrong...Im doing nothing wrong...lol. Still coldnt help but feeling like red lights where going to start flashing, alarms would scream...and a gate would fall down over me.

You mentioned in a post some of the great deals you found...I look forward to getting at least one hopefully. I'd be happy getting a 25lb screw for a penny first. But as for some of the things you found...if you remember, how did you find them? Meaning where they in the clearance end caps? I can see it being kinda easy to bring a small item upto the SCO but how do you score a big item? Like a vanity or say a front door or etc...how would you go about scanning and paying that one?

I promise to goto the other forum to ask my question, just wanted to finish this one with you. Truly cant thank you enough for helping me out. Take care

PS: I just searched for the other HD thread and only found one. I went there and its basically dead. There doesnt seem to be any pros or experts who do this sort of thing to help out. Normally I do my own searching and dont ask but could you please maybe post link here or PM the thread you mentioned. Thanks

PSS: This forum is the BEST...lots of great info for anything you need help with. you guys are amazing

They are busy putting out all of the Spring Black Friday stuff in the racetracks. The signs say to begin on 4/5, but it also said not to put on the floor until 4/4, so you may be able to find some stores selling stuff on Wednesday. I'm surprised the ad hasn't leaked yet.

noticed some Andersen storm doors hit .03 pricing - looked nicer than most of the options Lowe's has on clearance currently

2 1/2 faux wood blinds hit .03 pricing I believe last week ymmv

bought a 25lb box of deckmate for .01 and got stopped after I had already paid, the SCO attendant grabbed my receipt and called a mgr over. I didn't feel like arguing over it, best the manager offered me was $68, so I walked empty handed.

They refunded you? That seems illegal if not.

The 8 gallon compressors with the accessories are apparently still out there. Just picked up 2 for a penny a piece. Right above the rest of the compressors, in easy yellow ladder reach, just sitting there, waiting for someone to adopt them.

Re: 2018 Home Depot Clearance Thead

It was an exceptional weekend for me at the HD. I found the most and the best penny items and some other nice deals.

The Gorilla platform was penny, the hitch adapter and grill igniter and grill cover, all pennies.

The Ryobi rotary hammer drill, marked $70 price checked at $50 and the weed whacker, well, after listening to the nitwit in garden tell me the price is what's on the tag over and over I said, okay and went inside the store to find someone else. Had them look it up on the puter and what do you know, $25.03 and it even had a battery in it! The employee literally said "what the F!!??" LOL

Those Gorilla work platforms are great, I got one on Black Friday. They have several models, what's the one you found for a penny?

It looks like the 250lb model that was $20 on BF (I got one of those too)... I think the 300lb model has more black plastic moldings on various places.

Seabrook NH never has great deals. They did have a ryobi 15a table saw hidden up top for $100. Was marked $160 down from $200. Got some of those $25 deck screws there and one of the ryobi impact guns. None left now

Pennies are almost never marked as such, because that is what happens when something is supposed to be removed from inventory. for one to get a tag means somebody screwed up twice on that item.

Huh, just saw both of those at my local HD, the 2 gallon wasn't marked to twenty and the 8 gallon was listed at full price.
