There is no benefit to membership for HD deals, but the inventory tracker is as accurate as the in store pca. No prices on clearance though.

What is LCP?

Is it me, or does it seem like there's ALOT more MET employees in the store? :headscrat. My store has been crawling with them in the last 7 or 8 months.

MET team missed these. Now $22.

Brickseek is best tool. Uses zip code and internet #. Still can be inaccurate but it’s a place to start. They can usually tell you price or at least if it is marked cleanrence.

TY

I looked and was not able to figure out how to find any deals for HD

Edit: I think I figured it out. every time something goes on clearance near me it looks to go out of stock immediately. :/

sometimes 'this item only' has a bit of a pattern...
ive noticed certain types of items show up all at once at diff stores. most recent examples were lincoln welders. saw none for months, saw 7 in two weeks, each at half off, some looked unused. an assortment of models from mig to flux to stick. no rhyme or reason except they all showed up in a 2 week span and all were lincolns

the other ones that come to mind were ryobi inverter gensets and large makita rotary hammers, both at least a yr ago, if not two

Sometimes it is stuff that has been reconditioned or repaired at my area stores or used for one project and returned.

Regarding this item only, Ive successfully had a manager delete the "this item only" tag since the regular price was at .03 pricing and the tag was $600 more expensive. Not sure if that is something that commonly happens

i'm seeing a ton of **.00 discounts. Heck, one store still has those air impacts from months ago marked with a .00 price. Haven't moved in 3-6 months :(

not seen anything with a decent markdown in quite some time

these were from today. there were a few more, but I lacked ambition, and honestly felt a little conspicuous taking images of price tags.

Did you price check those? .03 from August, I would think they would be a penny.

How long have those items been on clearance? I looked up a few items and they seem to be out of stock everywhere for the closest 50 stores.

That Milwaukee voltage tester seems to be full price. It is actually cheaper on Amazon. I can't speak to the quality of it, but I recommend this one:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000GLAC5G/?tag=atomicindus08-20

The adjustable sensitivity feature makes it a winner over any other I've tried.

get this one:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002JGQAQ6/?tag=atomicindus08-20

for 3$ extra you get a receptacle tester, which I have, and use all the time. great product. even includes a GFCI tester.

I also have that receptacle tester and it works great. However, the voltage tester you linked to does not have the adjustability feature of the one that I linked to, and the adjustability feature is what makes it a winner IMO.

oops, did not notice that, sorry. since they were on the same page, I assumed they were all permutations of the same items.

Curious as to how you are filtering / what you are typing in at the pro desk to see items not pennied out that are years old and no way in store. Every time I sort by lowest price I see a bunch of old penny items that have likely been gone for years. What’s the trick?

Search a brand-name example Milwaukee. Go up to the top and filter results. And click clearance only.

I assume that's not an everywhere deal? I looked up the 56 inch box and its 1100 here in Michigan

I am not an expert, or an insider at HD.

but, from my interactions, it appears that there are at least three (four) "systems" in use:

1) there is the publicly facing web site. it is accessed thought homedepot.com, and through express.google.com. the reason I list them separately is that while the prices appear to be largely the same, there are deals available on one but not the other. as an example, there is currently a 20% off, up to 20$ total value, coupon for HD items available through express. note that not everything available on the main site is available on express. express also seems to have a floor of 15$ for free shipping, while homedepot.com is 49$. these databases don't seem to show a lot of discounted items. if they are listed at all, they are at the regular price. they will often show out of stock once the item enters the "discount spiral" that leads to a penny (or to the MET (merchandising execution team) removing them). this system usually lies about stock levels, reserving some amount of units for local sale. if it says they have three, they likely have five on hand, assuming no one has stolen any, of course.

this is why it is maybe four rather than three systems.

2) there is a "register" system available in stores to fixed location terminals (registers, SCO (self check out), price scanners (in locations that have them) and computers in various departments (pro desk, appliances, etc)). this is the database where you find those prices you see in screen shots here. this system is usually on a per store "view". if you want to see what neighboring stores have, you need to reset the location that the terminal is looking at (only available on the computers, not the registers or scanners). this view includes accurate stock levels, but again is only available on the computers.

this system is the most authoritative at the store level. what it shows as the current price is what the registers charge you. it is also the system that decrements the stock levels.

3) there is a hybrid system available in the hand-held units that employees have (assuming these are available everywhere, don't really know). from observing their use, these systems seem to take stock levels for the local store from the register system, but pricing from the publicly facing system. they offer easy access to checking other area stores for stock, but cannot see the prices there, they assume that the prices are the same between stores.

it appears that the MET can update these systems. on one or two occasions I have seen the prices on the hand-held units with a yellow background, and the "spiral" price listed.

the best place to check for local deals appears to the the computers. the best place to check individual prices (which I have occasionally found to be wildly off the sticker on the shelves) is either the price checkers through out the stores (in locations that provide them) or SCO (although I imagine that it will attract attention if you are constantly scanning items and then canceling and going back into the store with the item).

I am sure that this is incorrect in thousands of distinct and subtle ways, and I am also sure that various people who understand far better than I will chime in with corrections, but this will at least get you started.

I called a friend who works there. He said that must be local to wherever he was posting from due to overstock or something. My friends store and everywhere else in the district doesnt show the clearance on that toolbox, nor can he price match unfortunately

Homedepot's clearance is often completely arbitrary. I regularly find stuff on clearance at one store and then go to the store 10 mins down the road only to have the same item be full price. I have even found this with penny items. I really have yet to figure out the over arcing rhyme and reason behind some clearance. Some of it makes perfect sense like the special buy items that are not normal stock at any store. but other items seem completely random from store to store.

according to one talkative manager, one issue is that they don't have a mechanism to shift stock from store to store. he said that there were times when he had run out of something, and a store 10 miles away couldn't give them away. he couldn't get anymore, and the other store started slashing the price to get rid of them.

he couldn't understand. they have trucks parked there. they could have sent an employee over to the other store, picked up the stock, and brought it back. but they can't. there is no way to check it out of the stock on one store and move it into the stock of the other. so rather than him selling it for the regular price, the other store knocked 50% off the price, and even then it took awhile to sell, because the internet said they had none in stock.

people, and organizations, can be their own worst enemies.
