according to one talkative manager, one issue is that they don't have a mechanism to shift stock from store to store. he said that there were times when he had run out of something, and a store 10 miles away couldn't give them away. he couldn't get anymore, and the other store started slashing the price to get rid of them.
he couldn't understand. they have trucks parked there. they could have sent an employee over to the other store, picked up the stock, and brought it back. but they can't. there is no way to check it out of the stock on one store and move it into the stock of the other. so rather than him selling it for the regular price, the other store knocked 50% off the price, and even then it took awhile to sell, because the internet said they had none in stock.
people, and organizations, can be their own worst enemies.
Few things I stumbled upon today while I was at HD.
I worked there part time and we pulled store transfers every day. That was almost 10 years ago now so who knows what's changed today. It would be really helpful if they still did transfers though that's for sure.
Curious as to how you are filtering / what you are typing in at the pro desk to see items not pennied out that are years old and no way in store. Every time I sort by lowest price I see a bunch of old penny items that have likely been gone for years. What’s the trick?

That black Husky Tool box for $250 is a stupid sick deal. Jump on that deal if you can.
I assume that's not an everywhere deal? I looked up the 56 inch box and its 1100 here in Michigan

We used to do it all the time when I work there. Don't know why they don't do it anymore?
We have some XR models, but these are not XR. Not sure how they stack up longevity wise.
1001802031 fire pit down to $9.83. Everbilt swimming pool pumps pennied.

That is weird they show stock at other stores.$368.00 price.
Did you price check those? .03 from August, I would think they would be a penny.

I have a couple of them that I bought a couple years back... I think I bought them back then in a two-pack, for like twenty bucks. Work pretty good for what they are. I’m just old school and prefer a regular multi-meter. Bought a few of the Milwaukke units a couple years ago and they seem to be holding up very well. I really like the backlight feature, they’re easy to read when you’re working in unique, hard to see spaces. Also got one of the Milwaukee clamp-on amp-meters. Happy with all they’re meters, actually. How good is that voltage tester? I need one and herd some funky reviews on the Klein one?
First penny score. Self checkout gave us grief but ended up giving it to us for free. We learned you should go to self checkout with penny items only when it is not busy to fly under the radar.

And scan the original barcode, not the yellow tag.
If it is in a shipping box take it out. Those barcodes will not work. Hope this helps. And scan the original barcode, not the yellow tag.

it seems like I always do that, but it never occurred to me that they would be different. . . . . .

Yeah. Easy swap.
BOOM, great post, thank you.
There is a Milwaukee endcap display with a few tools on display on a little stage above 2-3 deep shelves. The impact combo was in those shelves with other special buy and clearance items. I set it up on the little stage for the photo. There is Dewalt and Makita endcaps just like it with clearance items mixed in.Was this in Clearence area or top shelf?
Depot chat took care of me again though.
