according to one talkative manager, one issue is that they don't have a mechanism to shift stock from store to store. he said that there were times when he had run out of something, and a store 10 miles away couldn't give them away. he couldn't get anymore, and the other store started slashing the price to get rid of them.

he couldn't understand. they have trucks parked there. they could have sent an employee over to the other store, picked up the stock, and brought it back. but they can't. there is no way to check it out of the stock on one store and move it into the stock of the other. so rather than him selling it for the regular price, the other store knocked 50% off the price, and even then it took awhile to sell, because the internet said they had none in stock.

people, and organizations, can be their own worst enemies.

I worked there part time and we pulled store transfers every day. That was almost 10 years ago now so who knows what's changed today. It would be really helpful if they still did transfers though that's for sure.

One of my local stores did inventory today and I was able to score a 2731-20 7-1/4" fuel circular saw for $100 but it was a 'this item only sale' so I cheeked another store on the way home to see if maybe they had anything good but no luck there.

maybe the guy I was talking to was also only referring to the Milwaukee tools, since that is likely what I was talking to him about. the actions of the TTI people make me think that there are special rules for the power tools . . . . . my location often has dewalt stuff in the yellow tag section, but other brands are rare. . . .

I have also noticed the TTI rep with a carriage full of various tools (including Milwaukee) that they were pulling from the shelves. when asked why, they mumble something about changing stock over or these things are not selling "at this location". they left me with the impression that they were clearing things out before HD started to run clearance on them.

or maybe it is a sophisticated program run by HD, who monitor this and other internet sites, to make sure that nothing is ever understood. they send daily updates to the stores, telling them what to say when they receive certain kinds of questions. if so, some of the employees at my store deserve Oscars for their performance.

Curious as to how you are filtering / what you are typing in at the pro desk to see items not pennied out that are years old and no way in store. Every time I sort by lowest price I see a bunch of old penny items that have likely been gone for years. What’s the trick?

yep what he said. I usually filter by M18 as those are the tools I use but I had some time to blow that day so I searched all milwaukee hoping for som
e saw blades but nothing in stock :(

That black Husky Tool box for $250 is a stupid sick deal. Jump on that deal if you can.

Don't really need another toolbox. If there is one in stock I'll let you guys know. I got my husky top/bottom for $50 :) which is smaller than this but I have 4 more husky 24" deep mobile cabinets.

I assume that's not an everywhere deal? I looked up the 56 inch box and its 1100 here in Michigan

I guess so if you aren't seeing it. I'd keep the SKU handy and watch it. I bet at some point it'll be on sale.

First penny score. Self checkout gave us grief but ended up giving it to us for free. We learned you should go to self checkout with penny items only when it is not busy to fly under the radar.

We used to do it all the time when I work there. Don't know why they don't do it anymore?

We transferred inventory as well, however was only to help with the out of stock report; not to preserve profits. DH's were just trying to cover their asses. i would drive to another store to transfer quantities of 1 or 2. I never once seen clearance merchandise move store to store.

We have some XR models, but these are not XR. Not sure how they stack up longevity wise.

So I purchased 3x bandsaw kits with batteries @ promo $199 ea, and 4x XR kits with 2 free tools for $379 ea. $2,115.

Tools came in over a couple days. I am just now going through them and realize they never sent one of the bandsaw kits. I check online and it says it shipped and they charged me.

I talk to online chat and they do some investigation and the can tell the box shipped 3 lbs lighter than it should had been. She wanted to just refund me and call it a day, but I said that price is so good that is why I got them. After 10 minutes of trying different combos (the "kit" is now sold out), she was able to piecemeal the same kit for the same cost.

SO, moral of the story, always check your inventory! Since I am the same one that purchased and inventoried, I was able to spot it. If someone else had inventoried it could easily had gone unnoticed and I would of been out $199 plus taxes! Depot chat took care of me again though.

How good is that voltage tester? I need one and herd some funky reviews on the Klein one?
I have a couple of them that I bought a couple years back... I think I bought them back then in a two-pack, for like twenty bucks. Work pretty good for what they are. I’m just old school and prefer a regular multi-meter. Bought a few of the Milwaukke units a couple years ago and they seem to be holding up very well. I really like the backlight feature, they’re easy to read when you’re working in unique, hard to see spaces. Also got one of the Milwaukee clamp-on amp-meters. Happy with all they’re meters, actually.

The 1/2 in. Husky wheel protector impact socket set (3-piece) (HD2DIWPSS) is $13 (down from $26) in some stores. That's putting it down quite a bit from even Harbor Freight prices per piece but still made in Taiwan. For comparison: https://www.harborfreight.com/12-in-drive-sae-metric-lug-nut-impact-sockets-7-pc-69781.html

The 1/2 in. Drive Speed Collar impact extension (H2DSPINHNDLEXT) is also $13 at some stores (down from $21.97). Made in Taiwan.

This is around my area.

I didn't buy any of those sockets because hub caps and galvanized steel lugs.

Was this in Clearence area or top shelf?
There is a Milwaukee endcap display with a few tools on display on a little stage above 2-3 deep shelves. The impact combo was in those shelves with other special buy and clearance items. I set it up on the little stage for the photo. There is Dewalt and Makita endcaps just like it with clearance items mixed in.

4x8 gray wood look paneling... I’m not much of a paneling guy but it’ll be perfect for a camper project I’m doing. 7147bc6e218e0ba3102e92f45e4e903a.jpg

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how poorly informed the companies reps are? *cough* Milwaukee.
I had one call it a Stackout (Packout), when I asked the runtime another told me the m12 2.0a would keep the inflator running for a couple weeks? Today I heard him telling a customer the new Milwaukee wrenches/ratchets were way better than snap on etc...

Anyway on that note: new Milwaukee ratchets and wrenches means a large pile of clearance husky equivalents in my store. All were 50% off. Offset wrenches, impact lug nut sockets. Etc. keep an eye out.
