Went to my HD today and they had cleared out the front register aisle. All of the tool and small appliance promo stuff was moved to the sides of the store. What's up? With one more week and weekend before Christmas what might they promote in that large area? Toolboxes?

i dont wield the double battery makita but i have the single battery version and its excellent... the tiny subcompact one vibrates extensively in no load... never actually used that one

I was hunting for the subcompact set today... struck out at stores showing 2 and 3 still. Oh well.

I saw a makita tracksaw rail sitting in an odd spot. Figured I could use another for $25. Rang it up and surprised to see $.01
So if anyone sees any rails, they have pennies. Pretty stoked!

The garden center is always worth a walk through this time of year.

I was in there last week and saw Black Flag hose end ready to spray lawn insect killer plus fungus control. Sticker said $12.97 marked down to $1.00. I bought the last 10 they had. Normally I buy concentrated lawn chems from Tractor Supply, but for a buck a bottle I can wrestle with the hose end for a treatment or two.

It's the same concentrate in hose-end bottles. Just dump in your favorite sprayer

You guys have any luck buying floor model displays? I was at my local HD last night and noticed a loose M18 Fuel circular saw sitting on the clearance end cap. No price sticker on it, but it was dusty so I figured it was the old display model. I took it to customer service to ask how much it was, but the girls up there didn't have a clue. They called the tool dept. guy over. He didn't know what to do either. It took him 15 minutes to even find the model on the HD website. The only thing he found with the exact model number was a kit that included the saw, 2 batteries, and bag for $450. He called his manager, and he didn't know what to do either because the only SKU they could find was the full price $450 one. He said they were just going to send it back to corporate for disposal (HD or Milwaukee, he didn't say). He tried to tell me they don't usually sell floor models and doesn't know why somebody put it there, but I told him that wasn't true because I always see floor models on the clearance shelf (recently there have been a ton of Husky air tools loose on the shelf). Oh well, I thought I was gonna get a score but I got nothing. I should have offered to buy a brand new M18 battery if they let me have the saw, at least they would have gotten a high margin sale. I wonder if the tool dept. guy is just gonna end up keeping it for himself somehow....

I’ve only bought a floor model once. In this circumstance I bought the last m18 radius light (on clearance) and asked if I could buy the display at the same price and he cut it loose and gave it to me.

They don't sell floor models because some are not working displays. Very common.

All of the Milwaukee cordless are usable tools. Now the Dremel section with all the cords cut is another story. I actually can't think of any dummy displays at HD, at least recently. Even when I worked at Best Buy, the only dummy items were cell phones, as they were always growing legs, both the real & fake ones.

My HD has a couple display sets Spyder wrapped in the clearance shelf currently, and I've bought other displays such as the Radius light mentioned & a tower light. It's usually cheaper to just have real units on display, than producing them for display only. Often display only units are not of the same quality, and would give the customer a bad impression of the tool

Not what I have been told by several stores,. It I'm not going to argue. Just trying to pass along what I have been told.

Well, I had this circular saw in my hand for a good 20 minutes. It was definitely a real tool (seemed to be in good shape too). I really hate when chain stores implement different policies from location to location. Makes for a frustrating shopping experience

I just bought a former display circular saw a couple weeks ago for $100. They were asking $134 and I got them to do $100 on it rather easily. With the exception of the one small scratch on the blade guard it's in perfect condition so I was very happy at $100 for it.

Is that the version with the 12.0 battery, charger, and bag?

most/many displays for nailers, welders, dremels, and many corded tools are inoperable.
battery stuff is easy: they have tester batteries, just pop one in and test.

scoring a major markdown is ymmv and often not worth the effort. a manager you know is usually best, but a dept manager you know can be just as good or better. i usually only talk to 'the manager' if i dont know anybody at that store
my memorable display scores:
flexvolt grinder $50, ego blower $10, m18 jigsaw $30, dyson vacs $45, batteries that 'wouldnt charge' free... i jumped a free flexvolt battery and use it everyday for a year and a half since

I got an M18 impact driver kit when it was $56.03. Floor model. They cut it off the display board for me and the dept mgr wrote up a ticket to give to checkout. There was only one battery (on the tool) and no charger, but for the price I didn't care.

The battery had gone so long without a charge it was DOA

But Milwaukee's warranty states 5 years from manufacture date or purchase date. I sent the battery in with a copy of the receipt and a note explaining why it was so cheap on the receipt. I received a new battery back from Milwaukee e-service. edit 2 years compact batteries, 3 years XC's

As for additional discounts on floor models, good luck. My store regularly puts loose tools or kits missing pieces on the clearance rack for 10-25% off full retail. I can always find the unmolested NIB product elsewhere for less. Their markdowns on these items are a joke

Dead batteries can be jumped with a good battery.

usually if you do warranty claim they send a new one... presumably to jump the 'dead' one they let you keep. neeeeever let them force you to take it to a service center.. they will keep the 'dead' one. threaten with credit card warranty if need be... bc then -everything- is free

Any Guesstimate as to when all these holiday promo displays will start dropping in price ? I have only seen the action camera & rachet drop

Edit: by promo display I mean things like the screw extractor/gloves/flashlights etc

Tried to share this as a link but don’t have 5 posts yet.. 🤦🏼****♂️

HD is selling Hilti PD5 for $99 right meow.. Hilti site has it at $269.
Very rare for something to be cheaper at HD than on Hilti’s site... let alone by nearly $200.

The Hilti MCU diamond blades are a great price at HD also. Blade sizes 16"-24". I wish I would have seen this before ordering a handful of the same blades directly from Hilti.

Yes, I was doing a clearance/special buy search through their site last night and saw the blades as well.. just assumed more people could use the measuring device, haha. A bit more universal

No - the store inventory manager was wrong. Idk why people keep saying brickseek is wrong. Whatever information you get from them is whatever the merchant fed them. So I believe the term is “ the store on hand inventory is off or not accurate”. You’re welcome
