Not a fan of the 1/4 hp block grinder but definitely a **** on the Sure Shot.
It's 1/3 HP and 4.7 amps. (That was before the days when Sears lied about HP ratings.) 4.7 amps is usually over 1/2 HP. Either these motors were really inefficient or Sear's spec'd them very conservatively.

For comparison, the HF 3/4 HP 8" grinder is rated at 4.8 amps.

Outlaw and Dave both rate *****!

RTM, I found a Bonalloy DBE in 15/16 x 1" Friday. It is amazing how often the same or similar items show up at the same time on this thread and on the vintage thread. Often a long distance apart, even thousands of miles!

So the Blue box caught my eye in a corner of the garage. I'd been looking for lanterns or stoves to no avail, despite indications he'd been a camper, (fishing rods, tents and bed rolls...) I saw that adn said "No way!" It was siting on top id the longer box:

E6 Optimus 8-R Volcono---.jpg

WAY! An Optimus 8-R! the other I didn't recognize (Partial Name is Vulcano---?) but is a gravity feed alcohol stove not a pressure feed:

E6 Optimus 8-R Volcono---b.jpg

practically under my feet is a Coleman 413F 2 burner stove (which I passed on) Bu was moving things and digging down there when I see the top of this peaking out!

EE7a 242Ca.jpg

I recognize that vent as a 242 or variant and its a 242 C from May of 1948!

It's VERY clean and if the little bit of rust on the bottom hasn't bit through, it should be a god runner! the Vent Appears to be pristine under the layered dust (VERY Rare!) I think I'm in luck as when I popped the fuel cap, it had a little pressure still (probably decades since last used)

EE7a 242Cb.jpg

this was also where the Coleman fuel can was - I keep digging and this pops up:

E7 M1942-a.jpg

Inside is a nice looking M-1942 army stove!

E7 M1942-b.jpg

This French made catalytic heater was down there as well:

E8 Herms Heater-France.jpg

And his box, which unfortunately was empty: (but I have a coupe so I grabbed it)

E7c 502 Box.jpg

and this Box which was NOT empty!

E7d HD Box.jpg

Its a heat drum for a 502:

E7d HD.jpg

More to come!
Ok, you **** profusely! I don't know exactly what I am looking at but I know you got a good deal and don't think these could have gone to a more appreciative home! Nice pulls!

Even if only 1/4 HP, I think Dave earned a Usuck on both!

Thanks Guys! I'm still grinning ear to ear, and planning on going back today if open. - it was that kind of place...
So went back and Spent most of an hour REALLY digging, then I hear her ringing up another guy for his purchases, and she says she was alerted to the joys of Eprey, and prices have risen... I watched him leave most of his picks behind.

I left ALL of my picks behind. Yesterday this would have been 20-25 bucks - today it was 150! Nope!

Bummer. What did you find today that was left behind? And, would you have left yesterday's treasures behind if they were more expensive?

What I can remember was: A Bell systems hatchet (round hole), A box of lathe boring bars, most of a gallon of acetone, 3 ford Adjustable wrenches, another bike adjustable, A fuel can for back packing, a 0-6 lb hand scale, copper tea kettle, antique crate pry bar with a wood handle, a few more things that escape me at the moment.

A friends grandparents are moving out of state, and I got to come in before the yard sale. Expected a little more gold, but the price was right (start a Sears GT tractor if it will, I think it will)

PXL_20210719_022838206.jpg

12" PG&E branded Proto click stop wrench, four 4 inch USA clamps, brush I already owned but forgot to move, Hertzog file card, USCCO (United States cutlery Co 'tempered steel' Belleville NJ) meat knife C1923-1933 I think, new but old coarse sharpening stone, cutco bread knife, bar clamp, ball file, grommit punch? feels quality no brand visible, 11" auto wrench needs a visit with mr press, a pin vise, and a Williams Hornet socket box.
The breadknife was folded in cardboard from before zip codes.

I think your "pin vise" is really a sewing awl or "stitcher." Take the cap off the back of the handle and I'll bet there is a spool of thread in there. I see the end of the thread poking out.

hmm, I thought it might be there becasue he had a hard time getting the cap off, but didn't look in there. It has a nice 'chuck' on the other end, and a thumbtack holding the broken other end of the string/thread.

I like the Williams box.

I didn't understand your comment about the Sears GT. Did you get one of those there too?

I had a little luck this weekend:

8” Chevron adjustable wrench (I haven’t seen Chevron tools before)
Crescent #50-8 linesman pliers
a transfer punch set with stand (missing three of the smaller ones)
General Hardware Mfg Co. Drill Tapping Index (57/60 = almost complete bit set)
Brown & Sharpe American Standard wire gauge
small, medium, and large hollow-handle combination tools.

Chevron tools seem to be Proto and tend to come out of the Bay Area refineries.

I have a few Chevron marked screwdrivers and sockets that I picked up at the Concord flea market.

PickEd this wire feeder up for 200, everything seems to be working needs a good scrubbing. Did not include the power source.

Picked up an ammo box full of wrenches the other day, the box itself was heavy and with all of these wrenches in it I could barely carry it out to the truck:ROFLMAO:

First set of pics:
  1. Ammo box
  2. This is kinda what it looked like but way fuller. This pic is after I already dumped a bunch of wrenches in the Evaporust
  3. Craftsman, VLChek, P&C, the little one on the right is Blue Point.
  4. VLChek
  5. Proto
  6. Plomb
  7. Herbrand

Second set of pics (clockwise from top left):
  1. Snap on, Indestro, Williams, unknown, Barcalo
  2. Fairmount, Blackhawk
  3. Boker pliers, I don't know what any of the stuff on the right is, Craftsman (CI), Barcalo
  4. Drew, Proto, Armstrong
  5. Arcturus, unknown (to me)
  6. Williams Superwrench
  7. More Fairfield, random pack of 25 plus cheap tiny wrenches, VLChek, unknown, Barcalo, Craftsman
Pretty happy with this, I'll get rid of most of it other than the Plomb, VLChek, and maybe Herbrand but seemed like a pretty good haul for just over $30.

Very nice!

What are the markings on that hook spanner to the right of the DBE's in the third photo? Looks like an aircraft tool.

It doesn't have any marks on it that I can tell, I actually tossed it in the goodwill box so you're welcome to it if you want it! I ran back downstairs and grabbed a couple better pics of it.

Last post, can anyone identify these wrenches and the larger ratchet? The smaller ratchet is stamped Japan.

What is that Snap on spinner/T handle? I would be interested in that.
Let me take a look once it's out of the Evaporust, I normally keep Snap on / Blue Point but if it's cadmium I don't really like that finish much and won't be too attached to it. I'll PM you once I get it cleaned up.

Thanks saukit.
Craigslist hit on my lunch break.
1/2” drive Snap on deep socket 3/4
Snap on 1/2-3/8 adapter
1/2” drive Bonney 11/16
3/8 drive plvmb ratchet
Blue Point DBE 1/2x9/16
And a complete KAL 1/4” set in its tin.
I left a lot of stuff there.
Think I did okay for $12.

saukit, now that I have had a better look, the hook spanner isn't what I thought it was. The lack of finish machining hints that it is something mass-produced, like a plumbing tool. Thanks for posting the photos!

Nice pick on the box of wrenches!

I stopped at four estate sales and one Restore today, with the first three estate sales being completely worthless. Either **** tools, or the one I stopped at for vintage bicycles and pellet guns, wanted $900 for a vintage Schwinn heavyweight. OK, that is twice eBay pricing! And the pellet guns were garbage. Well, I am guessing the family insisted on the price for that bike, as I wasn't the only one shaking his head at it. The restore delivered a P&C ignition wrench and a small screwdriver rack, or at least that is what I am calling it. The rest came from my final stop:
51328740161_30b77a4395_h.jpg
Most of an Indestro Super ignition set, adjustable level, 4" Proto adjustable, chisel handle, one of those vintage nut drivers with the bits in the handle (bits showing), and some kind of adjustable angle finder that is rusted shut. I also picked up this old canvas satchel:
51328946938_9f0fbe81ec_h.jpg
No probe was in it, but when I was with the phone company we used the same bags to keep our protective gloves for high voltage in.

Going to try to sell some this weekend. There is a 100 mile yard sale on Hwy 21 from Statesville NC to Wythville Va

Wow, I can't wrap my head around that!!! Of course, I grew up in a state that's barely 50 miles across at its widest point...
