Somewhere around here, I read that "seasonal" items go on clearance, then go back to full price when "in season" again.

They may have overstocked those cords for holiday lights, then tried to blow them out after Christmas, and now they're back in with normal inventory?

Of course, this is completely speculation, just trying to make sense where it probably doesn't...

My local Lowe’s removed the prices from all of the lumber. Did this happen anywhere else?

Lumber is stupid expensive right now as it is. I just spend $6+ per 2x4x8' at home depot for an aquarium stand build.

These used to be $2.4ish.

$8 each here. Used to be $2

Odd thing though is 10ft 2x4s are cheaper than stud length or 8ft.

I really, really hope the lumber pricing is temporary. There's no way it won't cripple industries (like building homes). Sure, pass the cost to the consumer, but eventually they get tired of paying the premium (and we all know that our paychecks will never keep up with these price hikes).

It hasn't crippled construction in my AO based on new home sales,

I work in this industry. When construction is low, like after the housing crash of 2008, we have excess capacity and have to drop prices super low to make sales and keep people employed. Sometimes that means taking a loss for a year or more.

Right now, the construction industry including remodeling is booming. Many products like lumber and drywall are sold before they're made; demand is higher than production. That drives prices and profits up.

When new housing demand goes back down, prices for lumber will also go back down.

TLDR: Lumber prices are cyclical. If you can wait, prices will come back down at some point.

Isn't there more to lumber prices than just increased demand? I think there are some major supply issues, including the devastation caused by the pine beetle. From what I understand, high lumber prices are here to stay for a while.

That would make sense if they reactivated the webpages for those items, but the webpage for the orange cord still shows "This item is no longer sold on Lowes.com".

I was going to buy some more, but BS is now showing $89.99 for the remaining few at the store. DOH! :Homer: Now I'd have to drive 45 minutes to the next nearest store with a clearance price.

I would usually agree with what you wrote BUT..... "These are unprecedented times"! :(

Historically, what I have seen is that when one product goes up for some reason, the others stay the same or may even lower their prices to help absorb the overall increase in the job cost. This time, it's different, everything is up, way up! Could some of it be inflation that is here to stay and/or most likely get worse? Oh well. this is not the place for this discussion.

Anyone see the snow shovels get marked down in their area yet? :)

No, but I saw a small handful of snow brushes on a clearance rack at a store in RI.

The pine beetle does have some effect on supply, but relatively minor. The bigger effect is saw mill shutdowns. The lumber industry, like many others, shut down early in COVID times, partially to help slow the virus, but also because they expected demand to plummet. Demand never dropped, and actually increased. So they started back up already behind the game. And many are forced to periodically shut down due to positive COVID cases and worker shortages.
Demand is through the roof, and saw mills are struggling to catch up.

But this is a deals page, so no more on this topic.

Well at this point.. A lumber deal is what i am waiting for to do my room addition and enclosed patio.. But the sky high lumber price is stopping everything.. I am going to wait it out.. Damn.. When i have time available, material prices stop me. Can anybody tell me if the paint also jacked up.. Basically what materials went up to do repairs and improvements to your house.. Going to have lots of extra time soon to do repairs.

Does anyone now of any active discount codes for Lowes? A 10% or something? I'm getting ready to buy a kitchen sink and want to lower the cost a bit more if possible. Thanks everyone.

My local Lowe's took a harbor freight coupon I had for 10% off on my purchase. Manager just had to approve it. I also have had them honor other companies coupons with manager approval. Don't know if the manager at my lowe's is cool or what. Worth a shot

Snow shovels for $16.
My shovel wore out the metal cutting edge so I just cut it off and every year or two recut the plastic straight. It's getting where the handle pocket is rubbing now.

Anyone snag one of the Craftsmen 243pc tool sets for $99 when they had them?

I was lazy and missed it, but seemed like a lot of tools for $99.

I just picked up a Bosch GXL18v-251b25 brushless hammer drill and impact driver kit with two 4ah batteries for $139.60 on clearance at my local Lowes.
I was initially just going to get the $99 impact driver, but I figured it was a no brainer to get the drill and two 4ah batteries for essentially $40.

Found this at Lowe's today, Item 759134, 60% off. Not sure that I need one this big, but it's close enough for an upcoming project.

They had others ("Marple" version) for regular price, which were much cheaper than the original price of this, but they had round shanks.

I'd love to find a full set of these on clearance!

My Lowes had the USB power adapter that slides onto a Kobalt 24V battery marked down to $6.**, and the Kobalt 200 lumens 24V flashlight for $9.**. I picked up a couple for camping, and to use on my cart to recharge my phone if needed. The flashlight is OK, only has a loop for hanging, no magnets or hooks, but does have a rotating head. Plenty bright for my needs.

Thanks for the step bits, I didn't see those when I was buying up some other things last night. Stack that with the GC that were 10% off at Newegg earlier this week and it's hard to say no.
