Well Dang, had this all written up on the phone, and it disappeared from saved mode.
Saturday I took
another dive into the
hoarder's garage, and pulled out a few more goodies. Needless to say, the great values are not there, but on average still happy with what I paid. Sunday was the last day, and I couldn't make it back. She has to be out by Wednesday, so the junkman comes today.
First thing that caught my eye was a large toolbox that I'd seen before. Very heavy. 17# at 21 x 10 x 10, tombstone shape, Little bit of goodies in it, nothing spectacular. I measured the metal, seems like its 0.054 thick body, vs about 0.041 for a Kennedy. Didn't see a tray that fit, and it really doesn't seem to have been planned for one. The flange shows no wear where it should have had a tray. Handle is screwed on, and welds are not well ground. May have been home made. Eventually became a case to carry stuff to the car.
Next up, a bunch of drafting lead, for a friend, a Miller Falls auger bit leatherette roll, decent shape. Have not arranged them back in the appropriate slots yet, etc. Bridge clamp for a 2nd friend, Stearns Hollow auger, Delta Rockwell miter gauge, tool rest w Square shank for a wood lathe, file handle, Jacobs Multicrafter chuck and two more keys, big perfect handle style screwdriver, tip looks unused, but the shank is bent, single trammel point, Yankee and brace drivers, and a round file with a nice handle
Blackhawk Porto-Power and accessories in a Cobra International box, pump and ram both move, not sure if it leaks down yet.
Box of Sprague capacitors in a box, for a different friend, 2 big wooden clamps, 6" & 8" Adjustable clamps, length of 3/4" pipe knurled for a handle, will fit my Spade MKE drill nicely, and two flat belt pulleys.
The fun stuff, set of Taiwan made Chrome Vanadium flare wrenches, Proto 86A chisel, Torx bits, the T40 is trashed, probably a bad sign, Do-all set up blocks, some are rusty, hammerhead, Lisle harmonic puller, 2 pairs of 1/2" and 3/8" socket organizers, New Britain 10" pipe wrench (buried), 4x Craftsman 3/8" extensions, still on the packaging. Challenger by Proto 1819 3/4" sliding Tee handle, and 3 other sockets, too rusty to read, NB flexible extension handle, could of normal sized sockets, extensions and universals, Waldes No 34 snap ring pliers, Snap-on needle nose, unmarked cutter crimper of some kind, weird hex hex socket, weird socket with parallel grooves on top, Yankee type ratcheting screwdrivers, Goodell Pratt drill for a 3rd friend, file and pull rope handle, V.T. co Phillips 3 screwdriver, SK 42470 1/2" driver with a square to hex bit on it, SK, Crafsman and unmarked boxes, Huot fractional drill index, and a bunch of wrenches.
Some of the pieces need major derusting, others just a bit. Keeping one or two dirty to show off my 3M 220 grit wheel next weekend to some friends.
In the left behind pile, this giant 12" grinder, Brown Brockmeyer, Dayton Ohio 220v 18Amps
