Went to one family run estate sale quite a few years back on a Saturday but in talking to what I was assuming was a daughter she said they would have more man stuff on Sunday so stop back. So stop back Sunday morning and a county sheriff's car is now in the drivewayI went to a sale last year that looked really good; two three car garages, the regular two car, basement, etc. Apparently the night before the sale, the executor let some family members in to get some "personal items". Well, they grabbed all the tools and high resale items. The estate sales guy was PISSED. He had spent a lot of time preparing and was also loosing out on a decent percentage from the sales.
It sounded like lawsuits were going to be flying around, as other family members were loosing monies willed to them, the estate sales guy had his contract broken, and so on.
These things are complicated.
Forgecraft knives were made by a company called Washington Forge in the 1950s. They were created for professionals, butchers and chefs, and sold through Kitchen supply stores throughout the US.
Unfortunately, the cheap stainless knives that flooded the market in the 1960s killed Washington Forge and Forgecraft. The last one was made in 1968.

Got your own little Animal Farm going there. Some cleaned-up close-ups (and the mystery "item")...
Ha Ha, thanks! I sold just over $500 worth of items yesterday. Wife was certainly happy and I was too since it was mostly bits of a haul I pulled last year from an estate sale. I wanted to go to the swap meet but dont think I would have "made" money thereSmoke! That is exactly the look of a garage sale I would stop at!
So many baby clothes sales in my usual area, is why I typically prefer flea markets.
Sorry to have missed you RTM! That would have been nice to put a name to a face as well. That swap meet is always kind to me. Over the years I have met BMW and provincial there for the first time so it would only stand that you would meet a fellow member as well!hey wow, following on a theme, I met up with @bmwrd0 at the same swap meet, on Saturday. Arrived about 7, started at the back, and made it to the front by 10, when I had to run to make my next event.
It was nice to put a face to a name, and enjoy a different set of eyes and perspective on why they grab certain things. The vendors themselves were all a pleasure to deal with, unlike some at our regular flea.
Lots of small items, from many different vendors, mostly in the $1-5 range. The big purchase was the 18” firm joint Lufkin caliper, a Starrett whatzit, and a German made PH type screwdriver, from a guy who is the face of the PNTC organization, and hosts many club events at his place. I’ve tried to coordinate work and pleasure trips to hit one of their swap meets. Eventually.
The biggest left behind was a guy had a bunch of Teeny Tiny bicycle wrenches in very nice shape, but with the appropriate price tag. Forgot to take pix.
The X-Acto box is a bit newer, the Starrett bar to the right of it has a broken off thin piece of metal, too thin to be a lathe tool, so Whatzit #1. The next thing under the box is a Plomb stud remover, looks like the two wedges are in it, the next thing looks like a piloted counterbore, a Thorsen 3/8 ratchet, 9/16” Indestro auto wrench, a recessable bench planing stop up to, the German made PH driver, and some thing that looks like it clamps down on something drill bit like, and then brings an edge to it. Two whatzits, yeah.
The smalls were $5/ bag, so I grabbed 1-1/2 mortise bits, a Craftsman ratcheting right angle driver, flat head and Phillips, 3 brace screwdrivers and a countersink, unmarked and Pexto chisels, felt wheel holder, and a Proto stubby.

I'm still in charge though!Got your own little Animal Farm going there.
Well, we do have an Eastern screech owl as a permanent resident and mascot."The Lugzonian. and Pet Sanctuary"
Definitely. Has the right plastron, and long rear claws, too. On top of that, it just rained, when they are always generally more on the move afterward, and, late June early July is egg laying season. Unfortunately, she died. As you probably know, they have a very small range, living within just a few miles their entire lives. She has no visible signs of being struck by a car. Her shell is intact. Her hinge is intact. No fluids of any kind anywhere. But she was extremely lethargic. She barely responded to stimuli. Listlessly pulling her legs in, barely able to close her hinge. So I do suspect she was struck. Their shells are VERY hard. But I suspect her body got crushed. I moved her to the side of the road she was trying to cross to and watched her. She never moved. After 15 minutes I decided to take her home. If she recovered, I was going to take her back to where I found her. Technically, this is illegal, but I called an area reptile rescue place. I was going to take her there tomorrow. But she just never moved. Eventually, she didn't respond to any stimuli and her eyes glazed over. I will probably bury her for a few months and clean the carcass out and preserve the shell.Looks from the eyes to be a female?
Outlaw ***** for that axe, and doubly so if it's a Norlund!
Hit a few sales yesterday and blanked on the first three. The 4th turned out to be pretty good though, they had a big tool box listed for a couple hundred bucks and I figured they wouldn't let me pick through it. After talking to the guy though he was really mellow and didn't really care what I picked out. The prices were also quite reasonable, I paid $25 for everything and probably could have low balled even more but I didn't really feel that was appropriate given how nice these folks were.

Another little clamp vise, this one is pretty rusty but the label is in great shape. Any recommendations on how to de-rust from you vise restoration experts? Normally I'd just dunk it in Evaporust but I'm pretty sure that will destroy the label.
Cool little Ward Master cabinet, has a few drill bits and taps in it.
Probably my favorite pick from this sale, I've never seen one of these Buckeye DBEs before and this set has all the sizes from 1-5/8. Need to do some research on these as I have no idea who made them.
And the random stuff I picked out of the tool box and off the wrench wall. The bottom DOE is a Plomb 3020, also stoked about the little P&C 2114 DBE.

nice WB padlock, I have the same one w/ ISG tagHere’s yesterday’s truck show swap meet haul. Total ≈$25, already made $12 back from selling the pliers.
Husky line wrenches:$2 apiece
Hats: $5 for the pair
NOS Wilson-Bohannan lock: $3
Craftsman offset screwdrivers: 3 for a $1
NOS Craftsman linesmen: $7
S-K 7621 Brake ring pliers: $6
Here are some pics of some of the trucks.
Do you guys see what’s wrong with this truck?
I have a similar vise that was in similar condition. I normally use Simple Green and Evaporust, but was worried about the impact to the decal as well (yours looks even better than mine). Following GJ advise (I think it was d42 jeep), I cleaned with Formula 409 and followed up with WD-40 hand applied with 0000 steel wool. I didn’t want to take off any original paint either.Another little clamp vise, this one is pretty rusty but the label is in great shape. it is addicting!!My brother collects them, he bought the other 2 the vendor had, both with those tags, mine and one of his where both still in the bag.

Thanks! Lately I've been finding many items that are actually going to be useful in everyday chores. The collectors items are also turning up, and I'm needing to move a lot along to make room!Another double ender, nice find. The padlock resemble a Reese, but I'm not the lock expert here.
Prov- great haul there

Smokstak forumIs there a thread for vintage chain saws like this?
This week ended up hitting a couple of neighborhood sales with the family. Found a Starrett Last Word for $20, but not much of anything else. Headed home, and saw another sale so we stopped.
On a trailer in the back was an odd contraption, with a "Make Offer" sticker on it. As we all know, these could either be "I want it gone", or "This is super valuable". Thankfully for me, she asked if $20 sounded good. Paid her, and made arrangements to show up later to pick it up with the truck.
When I showed up to pick it up, she said another person had talked with her afterwards, and told her a whole story about what they were used for, etc. According to him, they are worth up to $1500 fully restored. Thankfully, she didn't ask for more money, and I told her it would get put to use with my son and I, not flipped for money.
It is a Snow-Moped, or Sno-Runner. Made by Chrysler for only a few years, this one has the Sno-Rabbit decal showing it was NOS from a company that bought out the remaining stock. 7HP 2-stroke motor, has a couple "skis" and a narrow snowmobile track under the back cover. Should be a fun restore project! Missing pets are in a box that I took when I first paid (including pull coil).
