Those are real beauts!
Those are real beauts!
Haha! I'm more disappointed you didn't prearrange another meet-up, but I'm guessing you wanted to stay on 95. Columbus, that flea we hit together last year, was on your route, but I only go on Thursdays. You were closer to @Jim_No_Garage and @NJ Marty territory. In the end, nothing of the vintage that Lugz usually looks for, so no BOLOs to issue, my friend.
Those are real beauts!
I’ve been slowly building up a set of blackhawk nutmasters, it’s cool to see other companies who have made something similarThx! I can't say they are beautiful, but they do have an attraction. Sometimes its al in the way its all put together?
The Peugeot Freres Surpans are indeed metric. A company in England called "BNT" (Brades, Nash, and Tyzack) made very handsome knockoffs with a black finish in British Standard Whitworth sizes on license from Peugeot. Emile Petit, who owned the Surpans patent, beat Fritz Diebold, who owned the New Britain/Blackhawk Nutmaster patent, by about a year.I’ve been slowly building up a set of blackhawk nutmasters, it’s cool to see other companies who have made something similar
Edit: are these metric? Doubly so if they are!

I thought about it, but figured a pair of sales would be quicker, and I wanted to get around the NYC Gordian Knot before it got too late. Maybe next time!Haha! The Lugzsonian - A Virtual Tour
I hate to contribute to thread drift, but to close a circle, here's the finished product of the motorcycle front end that Leg17 posted up-thread. I have a few Avon cars and now that Lugz suggested it (reminded me of it) I'll start posting them over on the Automotive Paraphernalia thread. Joewww.garagejournal.com

Maybe next time!
Sorry to hear you got hurt! Gravity *****.A month ago, I fell off my roof, landed on cement pad, broke left shoulder clavicle, sprained right shoulder, 4 ribs, toe, & got knocked out with a concussion.
You **** for that $16 haul! Two or three companies from Taiwan offered that thin gauge cabinet. I found one labeled "Test Rite" with a matching top box that was in a little worse shape than yours a few years ago for $5. I straightened the thin metal out with my hands and some duckbill pliers. Gave it a coat of paint and now my wife uses it for her sewing stuff.

Very nice find, 'Cuda!3” jaw clamp-on Lehigh vise.

3” jaw clamp-on Lehigh vise. Looks like horn broken off and missing the bar.

I think the box is for impact sockets.BMW, was the box for the Hex keys? or?
Oh that boxAfter two false starts at sales that were supposed to be open, I found a decent sale while waiting for something to open around noon.
A box of hex keys, string line, some taps, and a GTD tap wrench. Now, I need more hex keys like I need extra holes in my head, but it was the box itself that interested me
Who knows how long that has been tucked away?
After that I swung back by the thrift store I was at the day before, and picked up these books I missed
All of them early British editions.

), this leaves something like a grey/black oxide finish on the plain steels?

Nice find!but it was the box itself that interested me
No later than 1959, when the Plomb Tool Company changed their name to Pendleton Tool Industries, Inc., and no earlier than 1948, when they started slapping Proto brand name stickers on boxes and ads hoping it would be enough to get Plumb and the court off their a&&. (They were wrong!) So, somewhere between 64 and 74 years.Who knows how long that has been tucked away?
That residue wipes right off with penetrating oil and steel wool or a rag.this leaves something like a grey/black oxide finish on the plain steels?
Just before, but there was very little in the military inventory other than assembly lines. It did not catch on until much later. Off the top of my head, I believe the first Plomb Tool Co catalog that any "Power" sockets for "power nut-running equipment" show up is EDIT: 1939, "Cub" (3/8") drive, and they use the term "Impact" for the first time in very late 1947, 3/4" and 1" drive. I have not gone laterally with that in other mfgrs, but I would bet it's similar. Like you, I had never really looked at it closely before. Interesting question.I'm not sure I've ever sorted out when Impacts became a thing. Likely in WWII?

Uh-oh. Is that a spouse sighting?! Those are rarer than unicorns around here! Was able to pop over to the farm where we picked up a bunch of signs to get the rest of the stuff we couldn’t fit on the first load.
If it spun, you could host disco nights, gulag torture experiments, or both at the same time!My favorite pick up was the large Radial Fan Gas Station shade. I’ll keep it and eventually put it up in or on my shop.
Nice leg vise/post vise/blacksmith vise........Looks like you have the mounting bracket underneath it there but the spring is missing. Very common but easy for a blacksmith to make one. Does it have a maker's name on it?
Here’s more. Anything else you want to see, just ask.More pics of the Lehigh? Cool little Machinists Clamp on.
One of our GS OG’s helped me with his favorite flea markets in PA and NJ (there are a heck of a lot more than in CA).
Absolutely! We've had enough middle and side of the road finds over the years that several hosts have included it as an official source in their Intros!...do you officially have a “picker’s eye” if...

I agree with Lugz, that thing is adorable! And incredible that the impossibly long tail is still all there...SWMBO and I went to our 1st sale in a long while. No expectation of tools, and it did not disapoint. Being empty nesters again, we don't want a dog right now, but SWMBO did allow me to buy a Dachshund....in bronze.
What's interesting is this dog was made in the 1950's by Richard Rohac and have been sold for anywhere between $300-$600. For $8, I'm keeping it......
Ok it has been a while for me since able to do any yard sailing.
A month ago, I fell off my roof, landed on cement pad, broke left shoulder clavicle, sprained right shoulder, 4 ribs, toe, & got knocked out with a concussion.
Ended up in hospital 2 days then rehab hospital for 2 weeks.
Once I could move a little better, several time a day on my phone I came to the garage sale thread to see how you guys are doing.
Anyway, after a month, I have been cleared for driving and as long as I don't lift anything heavier than 5 lbs, I'm back in the game!
There is an estate sale company called Caring Transitions, that I get notices about.
Most of the time very little tool stuff is listed & I ignore.
Occasionally tools are included, & while most stuff is bid higher than I will pay, since they mentioned a large amount of cash & carry items also available the day of pickup, I paid enough to at least win one lot.
The plot thickens...
When I got there, I went through the house scoping out the confusion, & passed where auction lots were placed with lot numbers & saw my stuff.
Rather that deal with picking that up, I headed out the back door where there was a shed/garage that I saw was just being opened up.
At first it was just me and another polite fella picking, but after 30 minutes, there were 10 of us bumping into each other.
Keep In mind that 3Jakes shoulders don't work, his toe still hurts, & my ribs don't like to cough in the dust.
Here is the $70.00 pile I made.
Craftsman (imports) metric & standard 6 point sets
2 ford filters
Then the big pile:
2 pair 8 ton Rino Ramps
New condition Propane heater
Nice 4 awg jumper cables & sling
A bunch of motor oil including 4 sealed gallons of Castrol Actevo
24 Foot 3/8 tow chain
12 awg ext cord on reel
Jugs of winter wiper fluid
3 jack stands
a bag of replacement gas can nozzles
And a couple other doodads
I walked back to my car while the attendent watched my stuff & drove it back to load up this stuff.
Parked in the ally & went back down to where my won auction lot used to be.
The 3/4 socket set had walked away.
I found the manager, explained what happened & she told me my credit card could be refunded for the whole lot & make a cash offer on this puller set, which I then paid 10 bucks for.
It's good to be back in the game.

I like the light, but the holder for the other one betterHere’s the highlights:
