Not a garage sale per se, rather an estate clean out guy being evicted offering $5 “Fill a box”. Sadly someone had cleaned out hundreds of sockets an hour before me but left these goodies behind. A lot of Proto and all interesting USA tools.
Would you be interested in parting with a few of your newly acquired gems?

If so, let me know.

Another small haul today. Way out in the country, the PO was a big ham radio operator. Not my thing, but I remember the MARS sites from my time in Europe.

Starrett No. 130 Bench Level
Blackhawk 3/8 rat #34998 from 1959. Didn't see another piece from BH.
Sturdy cast Aluminum spray nozzle. Spending a lot of time trying to keep the plants and shrubs alive...
Aluminum Craftsman chalk line. Some of you CM experts help me with the era--font has cut corners and the A is wide.
Craftsman wood handled screwdriver. First one I've seen in the wild like this. I know a few of you have picked them up before.
Craftsman 9-40682 pin vise with four sizes of collets inside the barrel.
MARS pin (Military Affiliate Radio System)

$10 total.

Acquired a SO KR4200 trolly on my way home from work today found on FBM. It was a bit rustier than I had hoped, but I brought it home…

Anyone know if this is supposed to have a stay, or a strut to keep the lid open?

I spotted some stuff in the background of an estate sale post on Facebook. Unfortunately, it opened while I was a at work, but luckily my bride was available. She is cool like that, and as soon as the sale opened, staked my claim on these two pieces.

The shorter piece is actually a service writers desk. The taller Autolite cabinet is actually two cabinets, with the smaller top pieces intended to hang on the wall above.

When I went to pick them up, I scored a pretty great K-D manual valve spring compressor as well. IMG_4859.jpegIMG_4860.jpeg

One sale yesterday. It was a bit of a dig for most items. The PO liked drawers, like dresser drawers ,cabinet drawers, etc, but hey it kept the toolboxes away. I was surprised mid-late morning had the garage to myself for the most part. I spent close to an hour digging and came up with this batch:

That last picture looks like pickers paradise too me!!
Most of the wrenches and ratchets were out on a table ,and about half of 1/2" Craftsman sockets were in a Craftsman tool box/workbench . The rest and all the smalls came out of the drawers pictured above. I pulled them out 1 by 1 and over to a small clearing on another table to sift through. I was amazed that this sale which was advertised the same way I find all my sales ,was empty and I pretty much had the garage space to myself, I didn't get there at the crack of dawn, or in a line for a 10am opening and I'm surprised at the finds ,but I did dig pretty hard. I'm contemplating heading there tomorrow AM as it is last day/deep discount, but I'm not sure I missed much, but it could happen.

Estate & garage sale ($30): Grace Microplane; Carborundum no. 106 razor hone; Corona no. 4 gardening shear; Buck No. 301 Stockman knife pre-date code (NIB); 7" polished abalone shell; Beeman pellet trap; Craftsman 1/2" 943797 ratchet; SK 1/2" extension; 3 - Pre-1968 Revere Ware pots (2, 4, 6 qt)

I'm getting a lot better at not picking up too many otts and sots. Gives me more time to get my next weeks garage sale ready for selling all my otts and sotts .

From the looks of that last picture you were probably suffering from sensory overload when you were there today. If you go back tomorrow you'll probably either find some more overlooked goodies or you'll change your mind about items you previously passed over. Been there, done that.

That was probably the estate sellers "display state" very few make much effort to organise and regroup sets. they don't care.

the bulk is off to the garage sale.
in the second to last pic it looks like you have a couple of mess kit knives from WWII?

and if it were me I'd keep a lot of the rivets, eyelets and such in the tins - those come in handy for me all the time.

Otts and Sots from just 1 box of shoemakers tools. This is what remains after I've sold all stuff with value. Might keep some, but the bulk is off to the garage sale.

I have two of those three leather punches in my GS pile, but none of the plier sets, I have poor luck with those.
I just bought several boxes of those types of rivets. You willing to ship? If so, how much you want for them?

made a special trip on thurs to score a pair of hard-to-find bozak speakers.
MVC-031S.JPG
other than that, there aren't enough sales in the area to justify going out again this week.
that's four weekends in a row.
maybe its the heat...?

Nice score on the Bozaks! good rep,

I haven't had a pair to listen to/test. Not likely to as few vintage speakers are found for cheap anymore. "Back in the say" I went though more than 60 pairs of Speakers playing with Vintage Stereos. Sometimes pairing up the Speaker to the Stereo is also important.

The vise gods have shined on me again! Went to a thrift / antique store and there was this big Reed 3C combo 5" wide jaw Reed. It was in good shape other than the missing swivel lock. Both pipe and main jaw teeth look nice. It was priced at $325 but I managed to get 10% off. The vendor is a guy I know and he often has good finds.

After getting the vise I went to the guys booth and dug out some more goodies. The vintage Sears and Craftsman items were my favorites, especially the hammer. Total for the day was $403 with tax including the hammer.20230908_181408.jpg

I had hit up a couple of estate sales yesterday as well. The first one didn't have much guy stuff but I picked up the Proto tool box, screwdriver, Craftsman and Williams wrenches and a small copper headed hammer. $15 total.

The second estate sale I went to was a diggers paradise. 4 buildings to go through, mostly household stuff but some guy stuff. The scraper in the first picture is a Stanley No. 82, the knife sharpener is a Lee's, the branding or marking tool has separate letters W R M. Spent $50 total.
