I see new stuff all the time. Usually it's when somebody died though.

I find a fair amount of NOS at many sales. I prefer estate sale over garage sale as I am usually looking at listings/pictures and planning which sales to go to,which to skip. Garage sales are often loaded with baby clothes and few tools. I'm sure I miss plenty but I have time constraints and have to plot out my courses. It helps too at estate sales the previous owner usually isn't there asking for their stuff back.

Don, My OCD is kicking in and it's saying you have the start of two incomplete sets there. LOL.... Next time I get to the NW side of town there is a vendor that had/has?NOS SK and others still available. I'll have to look for screwdrivers. If they have any there might be a date on the packaging??? I haven't been there in a couple years but they still had Makita 9.6 stick battery tools advertised/mounted above the showcase/parts counter.

I’m actually perfectly happy with those. They must have been in a transitional time period because I ordered those in all at the same time since I was doing all the buying. It was probably in the in the mid to late ‘90s. I had to pay cost plus 10%.

There were two sales listed today on EstateSales.org that we checked out. The first one was in Lafayette, CA put on by one of our preferred companies. It had been picked over fairly well since we arrived 1-1/2 hours after opening. We still found some worthwhile items and I was able to name the price. My wife found the Klein bag. The 3/8” breaker is Blackhawk, the rusty DOE is Plomb. The socket is Powr-kraft, the pliers S-K Tool and the dykes Channellock. The monkey wrench was too rusty to determine brand and the ltttle square is empire
I cleaned some up. The second sale was in Pinole and we arrived right after opening at noon. They were just trying to get the house cleaned out and the prices were VERY friendly. Snap-on hacksaw blades, punch and stubby ratchet. S-K Wayne combo, 6” Diamalloy adjustable, Craftsman early =V= DBE, Armalloy combo and on the right is most of a Vlchek DOE auto kit if I’m not mistaken. The deep sockets are Indestro

Speaking of which..., you didn't mention them, but I never pass up dental picks either. They are great for cleaning tools. I just used one to scrape the gunk out of all the hard to get to places in a swivel joint.

The model with the polygonal hammer head are lasting pliers, if you didn't know. For stretching a leather sole and hobbing the nails. The model with the widening jaws, that looks like glaziers' pliers, but aren't (at least I don't think they are with that knurling inside the jaws), are also probably for leather. You wouldn't believe how many Osborne tools I see here.

Found? Or brought home? I see more in a week, but I don't bring them all home! I swear I don't know where the heck some of these guys are putting them all or what they're doing with them! My house would sink.

And, it seems like pick tools are always cheaply made (bend, break, pull out of the handles). I'd never really thought about it, but solid dental picks might be the way to go!

Thanks Don, I would have guessed newer than that as well. I did find a 2018 catalog and they have a font/silkscreen similar to the 3 smaller ones in your set. They also had a set of black/green drivers that look identical to the red/black Craftsman Professionals . Which I now assume were made by Ideal.

I hit a sale this morning that I was going to blow off as it didnt look that great. Glad I went as each item was $15 each. She threw in the hammer head. I saw the Wilton under a shelf in the garage on some car ramps. Before pulling it out I asked how much and after hearing the price grabbed it. Looks like it was put away in near new condition. I should get some money back on the canteen and hammer head after I figure out the maker.

I saw a garage sale 4 minutes from home that opened a 8 AM this morning. In the ad pictures I noticed a couple of early California plates that I could add to the ones in my basement. Here is the picture from the ad that I noticed.

I was the first to arrive at opening time. The seller pointed out a bankers box full of plates and they were cheap. I made an offer on the entire box and he accepted. As I was carrying them out to the car another customer arrived asking about the plates. I felt kind of bad that I had taken them all so I offered him three of his choice at my cost. We both went away happy.

Of all 38 plates there was only one matched pair.
I went through and put them all in order to find the matched set.
Now I have to figure out how to display them with the others in the basement.

If you run out of basement space to display your expanding license plate collection may I suggest nailing them to the rafters of your garage? And since your most recent ones have a great patina they'll look like they've been hanging there since 1934.

The old plates probably wouldn’t stand up to the outside weather for long. We checked out another garage sale across town and my wife found some coloring books for the grandkids and I got a Stanley Yankee ratcheting screwdriver and a couple other things. We then went down the same street to where the Corvair is garaged to set a variety of rodent traps. I found the plate I took off of my boat trailer when the state issued permanent plates. It might as well end up in the basement too. -Don

I landed a pretty decent Oswego 24-1/2B at a good price. It seems like vises have come down in price lately but are much fewer and far between.
