Hello Guys and Gals,
First off, thanks for having me. I've been lurking on the site for a long time. I'm in the process of building my new garage, It's 26x26 and I want a 20 foot wide door. Problem is, I can't find a 20' wide door anywhere. Please tell me where to look!

You could also go with a commercial rolling steel door - like the ones found on at loading docks. They will make just about any size - we just put in one that is 40' wide x 20' high.

Of course the Haas doors mentioned in a previous post look a lot more like a conventional garage door.

I'm going a 28x14 tomorrow. Clopay 906 or something like that. I hope you like the look of monster struts.

Call your local garage door guy or 3 and get estimates. Doors that size are commercial not residential. My 20x12 r20 insulated door will probably cost around 4k installed.

I have more questions than answers.
Post your location for more direct advice.

20' x 8' is still a residential sized door. Box stores are not a good choice to be looking. Go check out your local door companies. Make sure they add struts to each panel. Unless you are in a high wind area then you may have to step up. Depending on your location it should be a lot less than $4k.

Welcome to the forum. May I ask why you want a door that wide? I have a 16ft wide door and it is more than enough to drive two cars in. I am just curious as to why you want a door 20ft wide.

I had a 20 x 8 door installed when i built my garage 2 years ago. Goi it from Overhead Door Company. It is insulated and has windows in the 2nd section. wanted some light in. Cost was about $3000. I am north of Atlanta, GA. Hope this helps. Bert

It will be hit or miss as some manufacturers go to 20' and most do not in residential. All will have a commercial style door in 20'.
Windload doors in residential are about non-existent. It would have to be a custom door and then approved by an engineer.

This thread is from 2018. The OP has likely figured it out by now.

I agree. However, I had a request from a customer, and I was researching it myself, and coincidentally I came upon his post. In my research I found you can get that door and it might be helpful to others in the same boat. Cheers!
