Well after some discussion and mind changing we got the garage all planned out and ordered. Its going to be a steel garage because of the price. But it is a 24x26x12. Its gonna have one 10x8 door, 6x8 door, one window and a walk in door. We did the walls 12' high because a lift is planned for the future. Heres just a rough layout I put together with my truck and the tractor inside.

Heck no....lol. Grey is the tractor, its a 1954 Ferguson TO30. Its our work tractor, gets used and abused but I try to keep it looking nice. Eventually I want to do a full resto as my grandpa bought it burned down to the ground along with a 2nd 30 and several years later bam we had one good running TO30.

Did alittle more playing.....did what I could with the blade. Uncle came over with the transit. Turns out the one corner was lower than we foot and 2.5-3 foot lower than where we needed to be wich would take all fill :dunno: This was level with the driveway to the house wich is up high and we wouldn't have to worry about drains. After much thinking (and some arguing. lol) we opted to lower it all down and do a French drain on one side and a drain in the front. This will make needing less fill... From the looks of it, if it doesn't rain too bad tomorrow we will be getting some gravel.

And some pics...the sticks are around the 4 corners of the garage. Parked my truck and the tractor there to see bout how much room wed have.

And got the next toy today....sadly just borrowing it. 695 CIH 4wd....the bucket is too big for it but other than that works fairly nice. Itll be real nice for the gravel work.

Heres a pic to help tell you what kind of slope we are working with. No where round here is flat so makes it a pain. lol.

We also finally got our gravel and sand. 15 tons of #2.

15 tons of fill sand, got another 15 tons coming tomorrow. We are using the fill sand first to fill in because of the amount needed and the price. Its just a tad more than half the price of #2.

We are currently awaiting footer plans from the garage company to know for sure how big to make it. As of right now were planning for exactly 26x24 of 4" concrete with 6" where the lift will be.

Well we are running, garage company is running late, everyone is running late. lol. Hopefully within 2 weeks we will have a garage! As of right now we are ready to pour cement. Got prices today. All were within 45 dollars of each other delivered. At the end of it all we ended up using about 35-40 tons of fill sand and around 10 tons of the sand/gravel fill.

Here we are getting the sand level....raking and measuring...fun fun.

Everything got level and we decided to make it an inch higher to pack down. We ran over with the tractor to kinda get an idea how much it would pack. (note....theres a low spot for extra concrete in case we do decide to put a lift in)

Here we are putting the footer boards in...

Now is where the real fun came in....somebody in the family decided to make the fill up to the line where the top of the concrete would be because it would pack down that much. RIGHT....packed it, went down at most 3/4"...so a lot of shoveling raking and headaches later we packed it again and right at 4" thick for concrete. Good deal. Also leveled out a drive to the left for a future garage behind maybe in the future.

Poured the cement yesterday!

Wedensday we got everything ready....in a hurry because we knew rain was coming again. We were already playing in mud from the night before when we got about 1.5" of rain....got it all done and covered right before we got 2 more inches and rained right till the cement truck pulled in at 11:30 in the morning.

We had a little dip and needed some extra weight on the float....so had the little guy hop on and go for rides back and forth! haha

All done...came out real good except for one spot and around the drain. The first spot that was shot out of the 2nd truck gave us issues...the top of it started to like peel up and just made a mess...did the best we could to fix it, not pretty but what can ya do. And the drain I did myself, first time...not too bad. Overall we are pretty pleased for doing it urselves, only cost about 75 bucks in rentals.

Gonna wait bout a week to pull the forms and hopefully they call to deliver the building the next week! Getting anxious now!

And for anyone wondering why we did the pad first it is because the garage is full steel. On each side there is a beam that runs on the bottom and it is anchored to the cement. From there we seal the bottom around. The one nice thing about it is if ever needed we can move it....and also a decent warranty also.
